+though she tries her best not to show it, xiaomei's a tiny ball of anxiety, ready to break down at any moment. it's not something she's fond of admitting, but she does get easily nervous - especially in social situations. no matter how insignificant it might be (say, introducing herself to a new person), she can't seem to keep herself from feeling scared that people would view her in a negative light if she were to make even the tiniest mistake. the same goes for when she has to perform. she gets very nervous and jittery right before, but for some reason she can't exactly explain, all of her nerves and worries fly out the window the moment she steps on stage.

 though she was born in beijing, china, xiaomei moved to south korea at the age of 5 after her parents found better job opportunities there. she was very chubby as a kid and was often teased by her classmates. she tried her best to get along with everyone, but it didn't exactly work, which is probably why she's become so timid and insecure. regardless, she kept her head up and turned to music to help her get through the days whenever the insults got too bad. once she entered high school, she forced herself to start going on diets and to work out everyday. the bullying eventually stopped, but the memories of their hurtful words would remain in her thoughts forever. after graduating high school and gathering as much courage and confidence as she possibly could, she decided to audition for jellyfish entertainment so she could finally fulfill her dreams of performing on stage.
