As I noted after we talked, what we didn't discuss was the provenance of all these craftsmen, labourers and materials. Slaves procured from foreign lands had built the fountain, that was obvious, but what had they brought with them in addition to their skill? How many were spies? I was thinking like a spy myself, by now.
