- here are some deets that aren't immediately obvious:
- (1) game takes place inside a tube. you can roll around the tube with the s and d keys. hold left click to accelerate and space to boost.
- (2) there are three championships: rookie, pro, and ballistic. rookie is slow as hell but way easier because the below rule doesn't apply. pro is slightly faster, and ballistic is the fastest. the ai scales accordingly as well, so on rookie they are very slow, and on ballistic they are very fast. also, rookie only has four tracks, pro has six, and ballistics has all seven.
- (3) if you are on the INSIDE of a turn (excluding on rookie mode), you get detached from the track and have to reattach (right click) [note: some exceptions to this, you'll probably see them often]
- (4) if you are on the OUTSIDE or SIDES of a turn, you don't get detached.
- (5) if you take damage from hitting an obstacle or other racers, your "HEAT" meter goes up. there are five rows of five boxes to show your HEAT levels. if the boxes go over a certain amount (25 boxes) you explode and the race is over.
- (6) to reduce HEAT levels, you can either go over cooler pads (the blue things on the track), or you can use an internal cooler (the z key). the internal cooler slows you down a ton though so it's better to use cooler pads.
- (7) to gain boost, go over boost pads (the yellow things on the track)
- (8) by holding down the boost key you go incredibly fast, but you are more prone to crashing and probably exploding.
- (9) the max speed you can go while boosting is around 3200 kph. while using a superbooster you can go up to ~4500 kph.
- (10) going over boost/cooler pads doesn't necessarily give you the same amount of boost/cooling each time. it entirely depends on how long you spend on the pad, so if you're going fast you won't get as much boost/cooling.
- (11) if i use the internal cooler it's most likely because i'm intentionally slowing down. using it is the fastest way to slow down (aside from crashing), which means i can be on a boost pad for a longer amount of time and potentially refill my entire boost meter. sometimes i'll use it just to cool down the speeder cause i crash into shit a lot
- (12) there is an item (a pickup i guess) called a superbooster on every stage (you can tell because it has a B on it). that item increases your top speed and acceleration for about 10 seconds after you pick it up. i avoid it on most of the stages because it's too hard to get, plus the hitbox for it is tiny and you miss it most of the time anyway
- (13) there is a glitch with boost pads where you can have essentially infinite boost for the majority of the race. as far as i can tell, this only happens on certain pads, and you have to be in a certain position to do the glitch (i think to the far sides of the pad).
- (14) there is a glitch where you can crash into something, go out of bounds, and explode. the game doesn't know what to do, so it basically gives you a seizure by flashing colors at you, then ends the race with a "You won!" message, telling you that your top speed was -2147483648 (the absolute minimum value of an integer). this means you can win the race way faster than usual, but i have no idea how to perform this glitch. video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MktWsjDQxY0
- (15) fastest car:
- -engine: n203
- -cooler: airvent 4
- -seat: l-profiler
- -front: wavebreaker
- (16) default car
- -engine: ox II
- -cooler: nll triburst
- -seat: steadysteel
- -front: backpipe
- (17) the speeder skin and car skin don't make any difference
- (18) RA% or RA-mode means i'm using a specific save named RA. this save gives you $100,000,000 to spend and unlocks every track and championship; generally that just means i'm using the fastest car possible and racing in ballistics-mode championship. download it here: https://mega.co.nz/#!N8ojQBiZ!LDy-Uzyw6H3YLGmHMPSP5xSdK-aYZ5QVmF8YSwJKsIA
