- STORM FRONT
- >Be Anon
- >You were just walking down the street, trying to head home after a long, long day at work.
- >Unfortunately for you, you had somehow managed to miss the bus home, and thus had a nice long shitty walk to look forward to.
- >It had been pretty stressful recently. You had a new boss, and things had been getting shaky. The higher ups wanting to "reshuffle" everyone.
- >In any case, your job was at least safe for now. Hopefully.
- >You stopped at a crosswalk, pressing the button and waiting for the intersection to clear up. Rushing across the road as soon as it seemed safe, you tried to dispel the thoughts that were troubling you.
- >On the bright side, you at least had something good to come home to.
- >Your wife, Lucy, could always be counted on to help ease your stress and make any day into a good one.
- >Thinking of her, you couldn't help but smile. You were only about a mile and a half away from home, so you still had a good while before you would get home.
- >God, you were eager to slip your shoes off and lay down for a bit. Maybe in her arms. Probably in her arms.
- >You picked up the pace a little, the skies getting darker as storm clouds rolled in. It was supposed to storm pretty hard tonight, and you didn't want to get wet.
- >Good thing you were almost there.
- >Stepping into your apartment building, you sighed.
- >Weathermen were complete bullshit, and you hated them.
- >You were drenched from head to toe, the storm unexpectedly beginning an hour before it was supposed to. It was coming down in buckets, and you had quickly gotten soaked only a few blocks away from home. God dammit.
- >Pressing the elevator button, you waited for the steel box to descend.
- >You waited.
- >And kept on waiting.
- >You soon gave up, groaning as you realized the fucking thing was broken again. The landlord really needed to get off his fat ass and get this thing fixed already. It had been two weeks now!
- >Shaking your head, you turned to trudge up the stairs like some sort of poor person, leaving a trail of water as it dripped from your clothes and hair.
- >Man, why did you have to live on the top floor? You seriously were not looking forward to trudging up four flights of steps, most of which were poorly lit and stank like cheap cigarettes.
- >You were already exhausted from both work, and your walk home, and this really isn't something you needed.
- >God, you just wanted to eat a sandwich and fall asleep.
- >Stopping at your apartment door, you fished around in your pocket for your keys, managing to drop them on the cheap linoleum tiled floor like an idiot.
- >You picked them up, this time actually managed to poke the key into the lock, the key sticking for a minute before successfully turning, unlocking the deadbolt.
- >You went inside, closing and locking the door behind you. Didn't want some fucking crackhead feline to rob you or something.
- >Just as you started to peel your soaked jacket off, your wife, Lucy, poked her head around the corner from the kitchen.
- >"Ah, Anon, you're home!"
- >She smiled at you, her ear flicking in that classic border collie fashion.
- >Her grin was quickly replaced by a frown, as she saw the state you were in.
- >"Oh! Did you miss the bus again? I told you, you've gotta hustle to the bus stop if you don't want to take a walk..."
- >She stepped out of the kitchen, walking towards you.
- >Lucy's appearance was... Unusual, to say the least.
- >While everything above her shoulders was that of a Border Collie, she had the unfortunate luck of having the lower body of a kangaroo.
- >Hybrids were fucking weird.
- >You loved her though, and so it didn't matter much to you. She had always been very sensitive about her appearance, but in you she had found someone she could truly be comfortable around.
- >She gave you a quick peck on the cheek, before helping to take off your soaked clothing.
- >"Just head straight to the shower, 'Non. I'll take care of the clothes for you."
- >Standing there in only your underwear, just as soaked as the rest of your clothes, you trudged towards the bathroom, feeling the Roollie's eyes running over your body as you walked through the small apartment. Or was she a Borderoo? She always got pissed when you asked that. Or she tried to look pissed, at least. It was hard to tell when she was simultaneously laughing and also trying to smack you.
- >Stepping into the bathroom, you shut the door behind you, quickly rubbing your face against a fresh towel. A little counter-productive since you were about to just get wet again anyways, but it felt like the right thing to do.
- >Climbing into the small shitty tub, you turned on the water, hearing the pipes start to knock around in the walls as you nearly froze to death from the initial blast of over pressurized water.
- >After a second though, the temperature become more comfortable, and it didn't feel like you were being attacked with a pressure washer. The pipes were still loud as hell, though.
- >Sighing, you began to wash yourself, the stress of the day already beginning to melt away under the steamy cascade of hard water.
- >Climbing out of the tub after your shower, you began to dry off, once more rubbing yourself with the towel. You noticed the water was draining a bit slow, and you shook your head.
- >As much as you loved your wife, living with an anthro could be a real fucking pain with all the time you spent snaking the goddamn fur out of the drains.
- >Oh well. You'd worry about that later. Right now, you just wanted to take a load off and rest awhile.
- >Drying yourself off as best you could, you wrapped your towel around your waist, before opening the bathroom door, a wave of chilly air hitting you. Jeez, why did Lucy always have to keep the AC up so high? You knew she had fur, but you were in danger of freezing solid in situations like this.
- >You shuffled into your shared room, hearing Lucy messing around in the kitchen and humming an unfamiliar tune. She was probably getting dinner ready. You couldn't help but wonder what she was going to make tonight... She was by no means the best cook, but she usually did a decent job at making you something you liked. Usually.
- >You quickly threw on a pair of clothes, just some pajama pants and an old t-shirt. You were staying in the rest of the night, so no need to wear anything fancy.
- >Stepping back into the living room, you looked into the kitchen.
- >Sure enough, Lucy was there, intently stirring a pot on the stove. Her ear flicked as you walked over to her, and she turned to face you with a smile.
- >"I'm making some potato corn chowder tonight, Anon. Found a recipe online I wanted to try, and we had everything I needed. It smells good so far, so I think it might be a winner!"
- >It did indeed smell good. Like, well, corn chowder.
- >"You take a seat, and I'll let you know when It's ready, alright?
- >You nodded, heading over to the couch and laying down.
- >The TV was on, turned to some movie channel.
- >Ugh, Slaughter-Sphere? You hated this movie. For some reason, it always seemed to be on. Either it or one of the countless sequels it had.
- >For now though, it seemed you'd have to endure it. You couldn't see the TV remote and you felt too lazy at the moment to try and find it. So instead, you laid back and closed your eyes, just wanting to rest them for a moment.
- >You heard Lucy call from the kitchen.
- >"Hey! Don't fall asleep just yet, It's almost ready!"
- >You mumbled back, telling her not to worry, that you were just resting your eyes for a second.
- >That was a lie of course, you suddenly felt like you could sleep for a week. No way were you opening your eyes of your own accord.
- >As you began to drift off, you could hear Lucy say something. You couldn't make it out though, as sleep suddenly decided to claim you.
- >You were awoken with a start, your eyes popping open to reveal a certain Roollie staring you down with a stern look.
- >She was poking you in the gut, leaning right over your face.
- >"Anon, what did I say? No sleeping!"
- >She gave you a quick peck on the forehead.
- >"At least not until after you've had dinner. Come on now, up and at 'em. I made this special, so you better come here and sit with me!"
- >She pulled you up to a sitting position, shutting off the TV, then moving back into the kitchen.
- >You got up, trudging over to the small table the two of you always ate at. Rubbing the sleep out of your eyes, you asked her if she needed any help.
- >"No, no. I have everything ready, Anon. Just give me a second."
- >The table was already set, your wife walking over to the table with a couple steaming bowls of hot soup.
- >"Here you go, Anon. You want any salt or pepper? If you do, you can get it yourself."
- >She smirked, sitting across from you after setting the bowls down.
- >It smelled GOOD. This was definitely looking to be one of the better things she'd made.
- >You made a quick joke, saying she should've made some Roo tail soup instead.
- >It's a good thing there wasn't anything heavy at the table, because she gave you a look like she wanted to hit you in the head with something. Instead, she settled on just huffing and giving you stern look for a moment.
- >"Oh, just try the soup already! It'll be getting cold."
- >Conceding, you picked up the cutlery, lifting a spoonful of the hot liquid up to your lips, blowing on it for a moment before tasting it.
- >Hot damn, this stuff wasn't half bad. It wasn't bad at all, really. The corn... Potatoes... And especially the bacon all came together to really make an excellent soup.
- >Telling your significant other it was really really good, you wasted no time in starting to eat more, succeeding in burning your tongue.
- >Lucy chuckled at you as she tasted it herself.
- >"Slow down, Anon! I know you like it, but we have plenty. Don't hurt yourself over my expert cooking."
- >The two of you settled in for a good meal, your Roollie wife asking how your day went.
- >The both of you soon finished, both of you having two bowls of soup before calling it quits, leaving just enough for you to have for breakfast in the morning. Nothing better than reheated soup at Seven in the morning.
- >You took the bowls, then depositing them in the sink. They could wait.
- >"Wow, 'Non. I'll be sure to save that recipe."
- >You told Lucy you were glad to hear that. It had certainly been a good dinner, an excellent way to end the day in your opinion.
- >Yawning as you moved back towards the table, Lucy turned to look at you.
- >"Feeling like turning in early tonight? Me too. Tell you what, after we finishing cleaning up, just go on and head to bed. I was going to take a quick shower, and then I'll join you. Sound good?"
- >Nodding, you quickly moved to clear the table. You just wanted some sleep now, and you always slept like a log when Lucy was close.
- >Soon enough, the table was cleared and Lucy headed for the shower. You went straight to the bedroom, stripping down to your underwear before climbing under the covers.
- >You could hear the storm outside, thunder making the room almost seem to rumble, rain pattering against the window.
- >It was a little cold, but you knew it would warm up quick. That goddamn AC was going to be the death of you.
- >You got comfortable, the only thing keeping you awake was the sound of the pipes shaking in the wall right behind your head. It was almost soothing in a way, after becoming so accustomed to the sound.
- >Eventually though, the sound stopped as Lucy finished her shower, the sound of pipes being replaced with that of a fur dryer. Or a hair dryer. Or whatever the correct term was.
- >At this point, the bed was nice and warmed up, and you couldn't fight off sleep any longer.
- >Right as you were about to drift off though, you felt the mattress shift around as new weight settled on top of it. It was, of course, your kangaroo collie wife.
- >She snuggled up close to you, holding you tight from behind, pressing her snoot up against your neck as she gave you a few quick sniffs. You didn't know what it was with canines and sniffing, but you liked it. It was pretty cute, in a way.
- >You reached back, petting her head and giving her a few ear scritches as she squeezed you close.
- >It wouldn't be long before the two of you were fast asleep.
- >And there was nobody you'd rather spend the night with.
