- Here is what I buy:
- * Big Guy is not fast. Merg does a good job evidencing this, and this is also clear from Mik's own scans (the scene linked to demonstrate Big Guy avoiding piercing also depicts Big Guy, you know, being hit, in fact he nearly dies). Furthermore, many of the counter-arguments given are somewhat nonsensical or self-defeating. At one point Merg mentions that Big Guy fails to hit an unmoving target for 3 seconds, and Mik counters by mentioning the target is "agile". Why does this matter? They're standing still!
- * Big Guy is obviously very durable and has great firepower. This is both obvious from the scans, and also obvious through Merg conceding this point several times. Big Guy is going to one-shot the opposing team essentially regardless of what option is used.
- * Big Guy's scanners *may* be overhyped. Merg provides a few antifeats regarding this point, but also admits they're "crying sour grapes". I understand the difficulty in proving a negative, but as someone who's not going to and isn't supposed to watch this show, it is kind of on you to actually demonstrate that Big Guy usually doesn't just "find people". Things like "a guy right behind him escapes" and "he uses blimps for visual aerial searches" are great, but the amount of evidence provided for the extent of the claim made kind of leaves me in a position where I'm just agnostically flipping a coin. For the purposes of the judgement, I'll say that I don't think Big Guy's scanning ability is super relevant. That being because...
- I have literally nothing to buy or not buy vis a vis Merg's team. After reading this debate and then reading it again, all I really know about Szeth is that they're probably capable of bending bullets, that their sword is really sharp in reference to flesh and bone, and that they're agile. I can believe that Szeth is "faster and more agile", sure, but that doesn't tell me if Szeth is capable of damaging Big Guy (or to what degree). Seemingly, "cutting through giants" is used as the main feat to support the conclusion that Szeth could "penetrate to critical systems", but I don't know why this is the case. Are the giants made out of steel, or something?
- Ultimately, I've ****gotta go with Mik**** here. I don't think Merg did a bad job arguing against Mik's team, but this has to be paired with an argument *for* your team as well. It's not enough just to know that Big Guy is slow and bad at fighting if you also concede that one tap from him obliterates your bodyguard and your bodyguard has like one feat that sort of suggests he could be able to hurt BG. Tell me more! Is there some spiritual thing that lets the sword pass through metal? Does it extend in length in unpredictable ways? Remember, I don't know (or at least I'm supposed to pretend not to know) anything about Stormlight Archive, so what may be obvious to you is not obvious to me.
