- KH2FM-R JOATT TOURNAMENT TOP 8 AND TOP 16
- -----------------------------------------
- Congratulations to those who made the Top 8, and also to those who made the Top 16!
- It was a crazy run set of qualifiers and there are many great runners who didn't
- make the Top 8 or 16, that's how tough the competition was in this tournament.
- I'm going to break down how the brackets will work for both the Top 8 and the Top 16
- portions of this tournament.
- First of all, this is a list of players who made the Top 8 and Top 16!
- Top 8 in Seed Order:
- 1. JaredWeakStrike
- 2. Ninten
- 3. VGmaster
- 4. Salad
- 5. SonicShadowSilver2
- 6. Alios
- 7. ZakTheRobot
- 8. Jaylawn
- 9th -> 16th in Seed Order:
- 1. Ekyx
- 2. Desa
- 3. IanMyDude
- 4. CoreySG9
- 5. Hypodeck
- 6. Acelord_
- 7. Sandsneks
- 8. Ragnoth
- The two brackets for both Top 8 and 9th-16th will run the same way with the only difference being the Prize Pool for each.
- ----------------------------------
- HOW THE BRACKETS WORK + SCHEDULING
- ----------------------------------
- The Challonge bracket for Top 8 and 9th-6th can be found here -
- https://challonge.com/Top8JOATT
- The final Qualifier is on Saturday 10th July. The deadline for your first Top 8/top 16 match will be Sunday 25th July. This gives everyone some time to practice the different Settings and get in the right headspace for a Best of 3 vs your opponent.
- This means you have a whole 2 weeks to schedule and run the Best of 3 Matches with your opponent.
- For future rounds, you will have 1 week to complete them. (Top 8 finishes on Sunday 25th July, therefore Top 4 matches must be done by Sunday 1st August, and the Finals must be complete by Sunday 8th August).
- Players can play their best of 3 matches whenever throughout the week as long as they are done by the deadline. This means that you can schedule with your opponent to play all 3 Settings on the same day, or spread them throughout the week.
- For special unforeseen circumstances, I may allow players to play after the deadline, but I would very much prefer people to stick to it. A week should be enough to get 3 rando races done.
- If you are doing back-to-back Games vs your opponent (getting all 3 done in one day, for example), we ask that you have the racetime open or making sure you can be contactable by an organiser. This is so you can find out when you've lost the first game, and then move on to the 2nd. This is to prevent one of the players waiting for multiple minutes or an hour or something for their opponent to finish the seed even though the winner has already finished.
- ---------------------------------------------
- WHICH SETTINGS DO YOU PLAY? [THE VETO SYSTEM]
- ---------------------------------------------
- Players in the Top 8 and players through 9th-16th will be placed in their respective Discord DM Group with everyone else in their Bracket and the 6 Organisers. The VETO Process must be held in this Discord DM, @ing the Mods with your final decision for VETOs and which setting will be played first. Scheduling your Matches should be done as early as possible. If you're doing back-to-back seeds in one day, make sure you have the correct amount of time to play both. Please don't wait until a day before the deadline to do your first game in a best of 3, unless you know that you and your opponent can complete all 3 games before the deadline. DQs based on Inactivity can happen, and that will be ruled on a case-by-case basis, looking at who was most active/available throughout the week.
- 1 The player with the lowest seed will choose a Setting they would like VETO. (this means it will be removed from the matchup)
- 2 The player with the higher seed will then choose a Setting they would like to VETO from the remaining 4.
- 3 You now have the 3 Settings that will be played in the Match.
- 4 The player with the higher seed will now choose which Setting out of the 3 to be played FIRST.
- 5 The loser of this first Setting will choose the next Setting to be played, out of the remaining 2.
- 6 If a 3rd Game is needed, it will be on the final remaining setting.
- I have put an example of this process below if you're finding it hard to understand how this works. Myself and all the organisers are around if you have any Questions.
- EXAMPLE - Match between 1st Seed (Aurrunek) and 8th Seed (Bulcon)
- 1 Bulcon, as the lower seed, chooses to VETO his least favourite setting - Rando Rando.
- 2 Aurrunek, the higher seed, chooses to VETO - Beginner Blitz.
- 3 The 3 settings played in the Match will be - Lv1, League Settings, All Blue Numbers.
- 4 Aurrunek, the higher seed, wants to play League Settings first, as he believes it's his strongest setting.
- 5 Aurrunek ended up losing the League Settings match, but as he lost, he gets to choose the setting to play in Game 2. He chooses All Blue Numbers.
- 6 Aurrunek managed to win Game 2 and now both players are tied at 1-1. The deciding race between them will be on Lv1 Settings.
- Hopefully this makes sense to you all. AGAIN, I stress that you can reach out to any of the organisers with questions about the settings if you're not quite understanding something.
