   	→ shin areum. the first person petra connected with after she moved back to korea. she's kind of the opposite of her; bubbly and friendly with good grades, but she was the one who showed petra the ropes at school and accepted her though she's "foreigner". probably helps her with korean because petra struggles a little with writing.


SECTION 3 — HOW DO YOU LIKE ME.

➝ THE FUTURE: she plans to go back to canada for college and come back to korea for a job. she's a little torn about what she wants to do; part of her wants to teach english and part of her wishes she could travel because she likes observing people and learning about different cultures. probably takes a gap year for that and becomes a teacher in korea later.

➝ PERSONALITY:
	→ petra likes to view herself as functional, and realistic. she dislikes most classes because of how much effort she has to put in, but she doesn't completely give up on them because she's sensible enough to know that she needs it for her future. she's quite straightforward, and doesn't like to beat around the bush. disarmingly blunt, which surprises a lot of people in korea. she isn't easy to work with because she's the type of person that always goes at her own pace, and doesn't like adjusting to other people's levels.

	→ appreciates honesty and doesn't take bullshit. generally just jaded, but gets angry quick when things don't go her away (because she's used to getting what she wants.) also a little bit of a snake; she's not above doing underhanded things to keep herself safe, but is upfront about it (won't backstab you, but will talk shit to your face). selfish, almost always puts herself first.

 	→ the reason she has a lot of beef with the teachers is because she doesn't like their methods, and hopes to become a teacher that puts herself in the shoes of the students and is easygoing. wishes she weren't as difficult to deal with, but doesn't make much of an effort to do so. likes things handed to her on a silver platter.

➝ BACKGROUND:
	→ petra grew up in a very "informal" type of household. her parents weren't home much in canada, and she was given every freedom as long as she kept her grades up and didnt do anything crazy. very close to her sister because she was the one who "raised" her (i.e helped with homework, cooked for her etc). she also loves her parents though they weren't around much for her. she got into teaching because of her mother, who is a professor in anthropology, and because of the nurturing attitude of her sister.

	→ grew up immersed in western culture, but she was never crazy during school in canada. worked hard because it was expected of her. however, what made her slack were how bad the teachers were, and how they pressurized kids. kind of grew sick of it, so she regressed a lot. this is why her father to go back to korea because of the stricter education system (was close to her father till then, and still is, but lowkey salty because of his decision).

	→ all in all, she had a normal and happy childhood, with everything she could ask for, except she's not sure what she wants anymore.

	→ at first, she works as a cashier in a convenience store (tired face, done with customers) but later switches to tutoring elementary school kids who surprisingly aren't scared of her.
	→ petra doesn't own a car yet because she wants to earn enough to buy one. her sister sometimes drives her to school, and sometimes hoseok gives her a ride. later on, opts for walking with yoongi.
