The dm was scathing and rude according to Dream, and it was him calling tommy a liar and accusing tommy of manipulating his audience and being fake

"Not everything is black and white, so in my opinion these editors are probably being completely (or at least mostly honest), and that part of my video is also not dishonest.

I obviously know a lot of editors, and my statements were based on first hand accounts from (multiple) editors and also screenshots provided by editors. I am not in that discord myself to take screenshots.

Obviously my first screenshots are direct references to specific dollar amounts (in regards to Jack, and the text on screen says it's about Tommy's friends, not Tommy). The context of those screenshots is Jack's editor saying how much they are paid per video ($50), and then another editor asking who they edit for so they can avoid working for them because of how low the pay is. That's exactly what's expressed in the video.

The secondary screenshots were to demonstrate proof of editors in that circle using fans to get very low cost/free labor. I have multiple first hand accounts from editors being paid what works out to be dollars an hour, specifically for Tommy videos, especially for captioning, and some of these accounts are of captioning/cutting work being outsourced to stans for essentially nothing. I think that it's questionable in this case to outsource editing work to stans due to the parasocial relationship problems, not even accounting for extremely low wages.

I have also seen instances where editors are paid fairly by Tommy, but due to "time pressures" push the work onto stans/others for a ridiculously low amount. How much of that Tommy is aware of, I'm not certain, and Tommy has me blocked so it's not like I can ask!

Due to Tommy's video being 5 minutes, I condensed mine as short as I could while containing whatever information is absolutely necessary. The less information there is, the easier it is to misconstrue things, and the easier misinformation is. In a case where money and work is involved, it's not going to be very common that someone is willing to talk bad publicly about their past or a potential future employer.

Obviously the main point of that section was to point out another reason that Tommy's critique of me that he puts effort into his content and I don't is ridiculous. Given I edit my own videos, and have heard horror stories like the above. Obviously I'm HAPPY to see that his main editors are saying they are fairly paid and treated well, and I will always hope that is the case. Obviously it's also dramatized, and I'm overexaggerating to make a point, using a phrase "editor sweatshop" that is commonly used in the editor community to refer to being overworked and underpaid.

Tommy read a summary of Dreams stream, he watched part of Dreams video.

He didn't expect Dream to snap at him over the if youtubers were honest video. He used that video to test Dream because he had many friends telling him that Dreams a bad person but Tommy told them no and didn't believe them. After he posted that video, dream sent him a very long angry message that was full of horrible words which made Tommy realize dreams a bad guy. Tommy viewed Dream as still a  friend/or at least on good terms prior to the sketch and he did not think it would go down so badly. early 2020, dream says he watched many of tommys videos and they become friends. He and tommy don't become too close until around aug-sep. They hang out a lot on dsmp but tommy also shows up in dreams speedrun streams to hang out with him. They tease each other on minecraft and have a rivalry as they have opposite streamer personas.

2020- 2021, Dream and tommy are fairly close friends. Tommy refers to dream as closer than a brother in 2020 dec. Tommy refers to Dream as a youtube genius as Dream calls him very often giving him tons of advice and being his friend. But on oct and november 2021, tommy makes n0nce jokes about dream, the second joke he made had dream treating tommy less closely and he distanced slightly from tommy after sending tommy a long dm. Their dsmp lore is the main focus of their dynamic. The twitter thread with philza happens. Dream gave tommy a doc of youtuber advice 200 pages long. Many people tell tommy that dream is taking advantage of him as inniters were in tommys dms telling him that, and so were many of tommys friends.

2023, Tommy who was excited for dsmps2 is now excited for usmp and he is friends with Dream but they are not as close as before, Dream is distancing himself more from tommy as he is paranoid his friends think he is a grmer. Dream gets involved with drama with quackity, leads him to writing a long tweet which tommy at first liked but then changes his mind on later on, The two still have plans to meet irl at a convention. june 3rd george gets into controversy at the techno event. In july, tommy starts banning 'discduo' and 'dream' in his chat and talks about how he does not want to meet dream.. , he meets quackity irl, then later tommy makes a video mocking the situation which makes dream angry. Tommy thinks that dream will not get mad over this video and views the video as a joke.
aug 2023 onwards, dream is mad over this video, angrily messages tommy and tommys mom about it. He later apologizes to tommy. Tommy says that they should no longer talk to each other anymore. Tommy makes grming jokes about dream and jabs at him months after.
nov 2023, dream streams talking about how he and tommy arent friends and how he wants to reconcile with tommy and he says that he doesn't believe the 'if youtubers were honest' video was meant poorly by tommy.

Dream partly clings onto his former friendship with tommy, and also is sick of the things tommy says about him and he wants to talk to tommy. He believes that tommy is emotional and is a good person in his heart but he wants tommy to take down the videos of his family members and he believes tommy is disingenuous and does things for clout. He says tommy has no backbone. He says he wants to talk to tommy and blames tommy for blocking him. He also believes Tommy was a fake friend.
