2016 Recap

Apparently I got over 150(!) PBs this year, but the ones I'm most proud of are (descending order of importance):

===Kirby 64 100% - 1:08:49===

At the start of the year, my PB was this ugly 1:09:19 that got amazing luck everywhere. With the help of new strats by suzuri/nadu, 0x, and seraki, I got a run that was 30sec faster and got 20sec worse RNG for a net 50sec improvement in execution. Getting this run on the one-year anniversary of my first 100% WR was nice, too.

===KDL3 Best Ending - 1:23:41===

I only returned to this game because of AGDQ, and I had no idea I'd be able to improve my PB by almost five minutes. I think this run most demonstrates the difference between my 2015 and 2016 selves in terms of speedrunning mindset, skill, etc. This was also part of the 1:43:25 100% run--I was just hoping to snipe the 100% record before suzuri got a good run, but this blew away my expectations.

===Captain Toad All Gems - 1:35:56===

A successful 12-hour challenge story. Even though any% is the more competitive category, my All Gems PB is better-played. Looking back on it, I have no idea how I managed to run this game for over a month. It's a beautiful game with a lot of nice movement, but if only it were more suited for speedrunning...

===KatAM any% - 28:09===

I'm more proud of the strats I discovered/introduced than my current PB, but this current time demonstrates that I can get the record.

===Goof Troop co-op - 19:43===

Fulfilling a speedpromise to bbforky. I played a bunch of the solo categories, and in around four hours we were able to get this time. I hope someday we can meet up again and get an 18 in this category, perhaps in preparation for a GDQ.

===Pokemon Puzzle League Easy - 6:13===

Prior to 2016, I had never played Puzzle League with a nonzero amount of skill, so I'm happy with my improvement in all the categories (PPC as well). This result sticks out to me because I really grinded it out to get that third place time, which is ahead of some people who are really really good at this game.

===Kirby 64 any% - 58:48===

Arbitrary milestone achieved by really trying to squeeze out all the possible timesave while using double fire. Thanks to hayate for showing me some of those strats. This is K64, so I feel obliged to put this category in the list, even if it's at the bottom...
