  1. How To Do Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire Stationary LIVE BATTERY RNG Abuse
  2. by: zapdos44
  3. Special Thanks to /u/ ApoxAlpha and the RNG Reporter Devs
  4. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  5. Things You Need:
  6. VBA-RR (I used v23.6 svn480)
  7. Pokemon Ruby or Sapphire (duh)
  8. The Appropriate Lua Scripts
  9. RNG Reporter (Latest Version)
  10. PkHex, PokeGen or some other Gen 3 Save Editor (Just to check SID and inject Poke Balls)
  11. Patience
  12. Runasdate
  13. Find_Frame.exe
  14. a TID Abuse'd save
  15. Recomended:
  16. RNG Experience from Pokemon Emerald (Emerald is by far the easiest Gen 3 Game to abuse. Therefore, its a better starting point.)
  17. Cheat Codes (Walk Thru Walls, 100% Catch, Turn Skip, Movement Codes, Warp Codes, etc)
  18. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  19. Things To Know:
  20. If you are coming from Generation 4 or Generation 5 RNG, you are probably used to advancing frames with Chatot chatters. You may
  21. wonder how you advance frames in a Generation 3 Game. Simple. YOU DON'T. YOU don't do anything. The game will advance frames
  22. automatically and predictably no matter where you are. NPCs are non-existent and Synchronize is not a thing yet. Don't worry
  23. though. Generation 3 RNG is easy regardless. ^-^
  24. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  25. Quick Note:
  26. The Roamers (Latias and Latios) are not worth RNGing. The IVS are always disgusting (even with RNG Abuse) and you can RNG them
  27. easier in HGSS. Also, there aren't any balltism balls for Shiny Latias. ^-^
  28. Also, if you intend to do RS Dead Battery, remember that the initial seed is 5A0, not 0. This will let you get better frames, but
  29. not as good as in Live Battery RNG.
  30. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  31. Why You Will Do It
  32. Generation 3 has quite a few exclusive tutor moves. Some such as Seismic Toss and Soft-Boiled are mandatory for certain Pokemon to
  33. ever be competitive. Most people RNG Registeel as it has a flawless Calm Spread (31/0/31/31/31/31) and needs Seismic Toss to be
  34. viable.
  35. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  36. The Process Of RNGing
  37. 1. Boot up RNG Reporter.
  38. - Enter your TID, SID and any filters you want/need. Stationary Pokemon are generated by Method 1.
  39. - Once you have done so, press Generate and get a spread.
  40. - To get the initial seed, you will need to find your target PID. Then input the PID into Find Frame and look at the part where
  41. it says "Method 1 Spread generates on 0x87C" (0x87C is just an example, its not what you will get most likely)
  42. 2. Open VBA-RR
  43. - Turn on the lua script.
  44. 3. Calibrate!
  45. - Basically, you need to find out how many frames from when you press A to the IVS being generated.
  46. - Pause the game, note the frame you are currently on and start the encounter.
  47. - Copy down the IVS and Nature of the Pokemon and input them into RNG Reporter.
  48. - Get the frame you hit and subtract the frame you started on from the frame you hit.
  49. - So if you hit A on frame 4399 and hit frame 4500, your calibration is 101.
  50. 4. Subtract the amount of frames from calibration from your target.
  51. - So if you aim for 87555, you do 87555 - 101.
  52. 5. Hit the initial seed.
  53. - Go to 16 Bit Seed to time and input the seed from Find Frame.
  54. - Set that date in runasdate and make sure immediate mode is set up.
  55. 6. Advance frames
  56. - Remember that unlike in G4 Abuse, you advance the frames (or delay if you prefer) right in front of the encounter, not at the
  57. "Continue" screen.
  58. 7. Start the battle
  59. - You can inch forward via Ctrl + N
  60. - Congrats!
  61. - Make save states during the battle!
  62. 8. If you messed up, recalibrate
  63. - Find out what frame you hit and calibrate accordingly!
  64. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  65. CONGRATS! YOU JUST RNG'D A RUBY/SAPPHIRE STATIONARY POKEMON!
  66. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
