- When I moved to Hobart and it turned out the student accomodation I had chosen was an absolute disaster! Up a literal mountain from where the campus was, and one of the people that was living in the same villa didn't clean up any of his mess. The view of Hobart's city was nice from up that high but otherwise nah. All of this on my first few days wasn't great, I managed to find a new room in a different part of student accommodation that was still up a hill, but it wasn't as bad as being in Mount Nelson :P I ended up moving twice within the space of a week and it really took a toll on me. I thought I had lost the key card to my room so I went through all of my bags and boxes with stuff from moving to try and find it and had a bit of a mental breakdown, turns out the key card was on my fridge. The next week I had a nasty cold which wasn't great for productivity. I had lots of things to do that week. Still, good things happened. At the end of that week I got to see KLP live and I got to meet her!!!! Still one of my favourite moments of living in Hobart. Semester 2 started off well. I was worried it would take ages to adjust to studying again but I managed well. I got involved with the Amnesty International UTAS society where I met the first of some of my Hobart friends.
- A big thing though was that exciting was that I had a (not a boyfriend but close enough too it) person I liked a lot called Daniel that I dated for about three months. This one wasn't long distance so we'd usually see each other at least twice a week, do cute things together, go to expensive restuarants, talk on FaceTime almost every other day we didn't physically see each other etc. and he met my parents and in fact came to Devonport during mid semester break with me and cooked for them. Yes he was so good at cooking. And I think him being Vietnamese and cooking them a fantastic meal made my parents less racist :P While I was stressed with uni and extra stressed about the marriage equality postal vote, he was such a good person to talk to even about things he didn't understand at all. Unfortunately he broke up with me on the day that the postal vote results were announced because things didn't feel right to him, which came totally unexpectably and hit me hard. We still talk occasionally but it's not always easy for me to interact anymore. I did end up seeing Alison Wonderland live in December which was awesome, although I had an argument with Daniel earlier that day which made me a bit sad throughout her gig :/ Although I did meet a lot of people in Hobart, I didn't have many that were really close in the same way that Daniel was until December. I made some really good new friends, one of which is still a very good friend. That's about all for 2017 I think :P
