  1. I feel like this fight, on both sides, is being presented as a one-shot sniping competition. I'm definitely sure of this on Star's side, since she repeats this strategy often, and I'm about 70% sure of this strategy on Extreme's side, and the only reason I'm 70% on that is because I'm...
  2.
  3. A) Not really sure what equipment Yuu is supposed to have, I'm just inferring he has a sniper rifle from Extreme mentioning this, and
  4.
  5. B) I'm not really sure what Yuu's main strategy is, as Extreme mentions several of them as possibilities (the others being an ambush, bait-and-trap, or spray-and-pray with super powered bullets). I will grant that these strategies are not mutually contradictory, however, and Yuu could just shift from one to another as needed
  6.
  7. > As a side-note, I do acknowledge Star's arguments with regards to Yuu's characterization here, but I just don't find them very convincing. Aside from the "situational awareness" scan (which is definitely just a straight up antifeat), the scans showing Yuu "running out into the open" seem to be scenes where there is only open to run into, and given that (as Extreme points out) this is a game wherein player preparation drives the strategy, I'm inclined to just believe that cutscenes are not actually representative of Yuu's standard combat routine. Obviously this runs the risk of meta-gaming a Yuu who "acts as though he's being controlled by Extreme", but I do not think the idea that "a guy who was in the military and seemingly has a sniper rifle will snipe someone" is like, crazy.

  9. I think, ultimately, this comes down to intelligence gathering, and on this front ****I think Star wins****. I do think Extreme does a good job pointing out that the amount and degree of knowledge granted to Tariq is vague (I don't think we see direct speech from the Ophanim in any scan provided), and even Star's own phrasing of the ability as the Ophanim "sharing information of their own volition" is a far step away from "They're like, a sci-fi HUD that tells him the VIP is at 12 o'clock".
  10.
  11. Buuuut, at the same time, I think the scans presented make it clear that Tariq *does* receive useful information, and these scans are significantly more convincing (and seemingly consistent as a "passive" ability) than Yuu's "Sensitive". I also think that, given the distance, Tariq is likely to receive and process this information, as both teams will probably take many minutes to find one another.
  12.
  13. Furthermore, Tariq "is lucky". Stripping aside all else and treating the Ophanim and Sensitive as the exact same ability, the fact that Tariq seemingly bends probability to his favor somewhat definitionally means that a coin-toss lands in his favor. It's not enough that Yuu "have good senses", they would have to be *better* than Tariq's, enough so that the vague benefit of "Goodness Plot Aura" is an obviously hard swallow. And, again, I just don't think that's there. Reading through the match twice, it wasn't clear to me that Yuu's Sensitive would even work on a human, and Extreme framing this as an "assumption" that his supernatural energy *could* "shift the atmosphere" is like, not a strong sell on this.
  14.
  15. When it's Yuu's "might be able to sense his enemy, seemingly by activating a one turn(? The mechanics of God Eater's combat aren't clear to me) ability" vs Tariq's "I feel disabled when I don't have angelic seer vision, also I'm super lucky" it's like... well, yeah. I'm going to lean on the latter.
  16.
  17. Again, I could totally see this going either way. I don't think Tariq "fighting a guy who's so skilled he can split dimensions" means anything, and I think stone-shattering bullets from a huge monster gun are obviously threatening. But given the framing of the match as a "who's gonna find who" and the near total lack of argument that Yuu could take hits from Tariq, I gotta go with the guy who has multiple semi-tangible "I sense things" feats.

  21. ALSO, and to be clear I don't blame either participant for this as it's not technically the recommended format, but I would suggest writing a normally formatted post (I.E., the text is directly hyperlinked) and then just putting the non-formatted version in spoilers underneath it or something. It just looks nicer.
