  1. >360 days to go...
  2.
  3. >After the events from yesterday, Anon was looking forward to a somewhat normal day. Well, as normal as it gets with magical talking ponies. When he'd taken Pinkie Pie home after her experiment in Anon licking, he was summarily chewed out by Mrs. Cake for letting her do such a thing. Like anyone could control Pinkie in the first place. But it ended up with Pinkie getting the day off, and Anon eating his morning meal alone.
  4. >Toast and jam it was, then. Apparently, the Cakes were still more than a little annoyed. They'd come to see Pinkie as their own daughter, though Pinkie had corrected Anon, saying she'd grown up on a rock farm with twin sisters and her parents.
  5. >How one farmed rocks, Anon would never know, but apparently, she was nothing like the rest of her family. This fact made Anon chuckle thinking about the pink pony being the black sheep.
  6. >Following the meal, it was a half day in the orchard, with Big Mac and Applejack, or AJ as she'd asked to be called, showing off the finer point of apple bucking technique. He just wasn't going to get the same kind of power they were, having to stand on one foot to do any real good. He was, however, way faster at loading the cart. Hands were, by far, the best way to lift apples.
  7. >With work done, and two days worth of bits collected, Anon decided to pay a visit to Rarity to see how the gift was coming along, and to ask about the price, which was not set when it was ordered. Making the trek across town, Anon noticed a cloud half following his path, staying just out of his normal field of view. But a cloud hovering about 15 feet off the ground wasn't hard to spot.
  8. "Thought we wouldn't notice. But we did."
  9. >Smirking, a way to get rid of the cloud came to mind when Anon saw the local florist watering several plants with a hose.
  10. "Excuse me, but can I borrow that hose for juuuuust a second?"
  11. >The pony shrugged, flipping her red mane over, and handed Anon the hose. Turning around and placing a thumb over the opening, a blast of icy cold water hit the cloud!
  12. >"Hey! That's not fair!"
  13. >Coughing and sputtering sounds came from the cloud, with a rainbow maned pony falling out. Shaking her mane and wings, Anon handed the hose back to the Rose flanked pony.
  14. "So...you must be the infamous Rainbow Dash I have heard about. Having fun spying on me, or you just really curious?"
  15. >Leaning against a lamp post with his arms crossed, Anon waited for an answer from the now waterlogged pony.
  16. "I swear to God, if this is another one of Twilight's little experiments..."
  17. >"I'm not here for Twilight! And you aughta lay off her, all right! She didn't mean to bring you here, you hairless minotaur!"
  18. "Hairless...I am not a bull-man, Rainbow Dash. Much like you aren't a horse. As for Twilight..."
  19. >Sighing, Anon jammed his hands in his pocket, adjusting the bag on his back.
  20. "You have to realize, miss. She took me from everything and gave me a death sentence. And while life here is certainly...interesting, that's not something you just forgive, ok? Besides, I think a lesson in humilty might do her a would of good."
  21. >A sheepish look came across Rainbow's face, as Anon turned to continue back towards Rarity's shop.
  22. "Now, you are welcome to walk with me if you are suppose to keep an eye on me. But I don't condone sneaking around."
  23. >Blinking, the Rainbow pony caught up with Anon, looking up at him.
  24. >"How did you even know I was there?"
  25. "Low flying cloud. Next time, hiding in a tree might work better."
  26. >"How do you know so much about being sneaky...Are you a spy?"
  27. "Mon chere, ef ah wahz a spy, you would beh dead bah now."
  28. >"What's with the funny accent, Anon?"
  29. "Never mind, it's a human thing. So, what do you do here, besides follow lost humans?"
  30. >Flapping her wings, Rainbow Dash did small flips and loops next to him as she spoke.
  31. >"I'm one of the weather ponies. But what I really wanna be is a Wonderbolt! They're the best fliers in all of Equestria! Have you ever heard of them?"
  32. "Can't say that I have. But we have something similar. There is a group of our best pilots called the Thunderbirds."
  33. >"Wait...there are humans that fly? I bet you'd look funny with wings."
  34. >Half choking on a laugh, Anon shook his head, holding a hald out in a shape similar to an airplane.
  35. "We build machines that allow us to fly. Some fly slow, like a train, but we have others that go crazy fast. Like some jets can go faster than the speed of sound. And then there's the Blackbird. Top speed of over three times the speed of sound."
  36. >Rainbow lets out a whistle at that little factoid. Anon didn't know much more about the plane past that, but the plane was a thing of beauty in and of itself.
  37. >"I'd love to get my hooves on one of those! Only thing that can keep up with me now is other pegasi! I bet there are some earth ponies that would be great at flying!"
  38. "Well, maybe someday, ponies will build those sorts of things. but for now, you guys are doing pretty good, I'd say."
  39. >Arriving at the door to Rarity's boutique, Anon knocked before walking in. Sweetie Belle was currently scooting across the floor, but leaped up as soon as she saw you.
  40. >"Anon! Please tell me you are here to take me somewhere? I'm bored to pieces!"
  41. "I'm not, sorry, kiddo. But you know what? How much does ice cream cost?"
  42. >"Mrs Cake sells some for 2 bits a scoop!"
  43. >Fishing into his pocket, Anon handed Sweetie a 5 bit coin.
  44. "Why don't you and Rainbow Dash go get some Ice Cream on me. I need to talk to Rarity, and I think I might bore Rainbow if I keep her here too long."
  45. >"But Anon, I'm supposed to be watchi-"
  46. >Anon shot Dash a look, while Sweetie Belle bounced up and down quite happily, the coin practically burning a hole in her nonexistent pockets.
  47. >"Fiiiiine. But I want a scoop of triple ripple super duper ultra fudge. None of that boring stuff."
  48. >"Yay! Ice cream!"
  49. >Rainbow Dash flew behind Sweetie Bell somewhat dejected, if there was a way to do so, as Rarity came from the work room.
  50. >"Oh, Anon! Just the pony-"
  51. "Person."
  52. >"Right. Person I was looking for! I finished that 'hoodie' for Pinkie Pie last night, and I wanted to let you know it was ready for pick up! Also, after our latest chat, you inspired something I would like your opinion on!"
  53. "Oh? But...I'm not much into fashion, Rarity."
  54. >"That's obvious, my dear, but you can at least tell me if I have the idea behind it right."
  55. >Walking back into the work room, Anon followed her, and did a double take upon seeing Rarity's latest creations adorning several dress forms.
  56. "You...you made socks...for ponies. And leggings...and...Is that fishnet stockings?"
  57. >"Do you like them? I wasn't sure at first about the idea. But I passed the idea around to a few of my friends in the business, and they seem very interested! Imagine! 'Rarity's Fine ...what did you call them? Stockings?"
  58. "Um...yes."
  59. >There was a slight blush on Anon's cheeks. He didn't see ponies that way, but even he had to admit. The idea was pretty cute. If this worked, Rarity was going to be very popular in a very quick manner.
  60. >"Is something wrong, Anon? You seem flustered."
  61. >The look of concern made Anon shake his head, clearing his mind.
  62. "I wish you luck on this, Rarity. Socks for ponies...who knew. Anyway...the hoodie?"
  63. >"Oh, yes! of course. If you'll wait out in the lobby, I'll pack it up for you. I still had Pinkie's measurements from the Grand Galloping Gala, so it was easy to make one to fit her. But it seems like it would be difficult for a lot of people to make their own 'hoodie', dear. Lots of stitch work was involved."
  64. "On Earth, stuff like mine is produced in mass. It lacks uniqueness, but with as many people as there are, I figure it's needed."
  65. >"How many humans are there?"
  66. "About 7 billion, give or take."
  67. >"Seven...billion."
  68. "Yup. And you guys got just one. Aren't you lucky."
  69. >A weird smile crossed Anon's lips as he stepped into the front room, leaving Rarity to her work. Once she regained composure, the unicorn placed the hoodie into the box, and as an afterthought, something else she'd made with the remaining material from the stockings. She was going to keep it herself, but she'd figured Anon had inspired her latest work, it was the least she could do.
  70. >Taking it out to the main room, Rarity set the box in Anon's hands.
  71. >"Now, be careful, Dahling, that is a one of a kind, much like yours is now. Take good care of it...do you understand?"
  72. >She gave him a look, meaning more than what she said, but what she'd implied.
  73. "I...think so?"
  74. >"I hope so, because if something were to happen...I'd be very upset. Now, run along, you clever boy. And go surprise Pinkie. This time of day, she's probably at the park."
  75. "Thanks, Rarity, what do I owe you, by the way?"
  76. >"Let's see...My usual garment cost, minus the Sweetie Belle distraction fee, minus the usual designing fee...15 bits should cover it."
  77. >When Anon reached into the bag on his side, Rarity thought it looked a lot like a two strapped purse. Maybe she'd ask him about it later.
  78. "And ten makes 15. There you go! Thanks for this, Miss Rarity. And I hope Sweetie Belle isn't too wound from the ice cream."
  79. >"I'm actually more worried about Rainbow Dash. Last time she was on a sugar buzz in my shop, she tried to make a dress. It was just dreadful!"
  80. >With a laugh, Anon stepped into the much brighter daylight, shielding his eyes.
  81. "The Park, huh? I guess it couldn't hurt to look."
  82. >Getting to the Park, Anon spotted Pinkie playing jump rope with some foals. She was laughing and playing, kind of like a kid, and yet, you could just sort of tell, she was doing it more to make others happy. That's just how she was.
  83. >Anon nodded. It was time someone gave her a gift, and not the other way around. When Pinkie had spotted him from across the lawn, her eyes lit up, and she waved her free hoof at Anon.
  84. >"Nonny! I didn't think I'd see you today! Wanna come play jump rope with us?"
  85. "Actually, Pinks, I was wondering if I could borrow you for just a few minutes? I promise, as soon as we are done, we'll get back to jump rope if the kids want."
  86. >Several of them had surrounded Anon by this point, just staring up at him, as he knelt down.
  87. "I promise, I won't gobble her up. Ok?"
  88. >Several of the little ones, seemed to take that as a good sign, and went off to play, when Pinkie walked up.
  89. >"So, who's the box for, Nonny? Is it someone's birthday? Do I need to throw a party?!"
  90. >Chuckling, Anon held out the box to her by the ribbon wrapped around it.
  91. "It's actually for you. A way of saying thank you for looking out for me the past few days. I imagine it didn't go at all the way you thought it would."
  92. >"For...me?"
  93. "Yeah, I asked Miss Rarity to make it for you. She says it'll fit right, but I've not seen it."
  94. >Opening the box, the ribbon fell out of her mouth when she lifted the lid.
  95. >"Anon...it's like your shirt! And it's PINK!"
  96. >Wrapping her hooves around Anon's neck, she gave hin a huge hug, then slipped into the hooding, the hood itself resting on her back.
  97. "Looks great, Pinkie!"
  98. >Spinning in place once, Pinkie Pie looked back into the box, as Anon took a sip from a nearby water fountain.
  99. >"Nonny? What are these?"
  100. >Peering out the corner of his eye, Anon spotted the pink mare holding up a double pair of sheer, dark pink stockings, with white lace on the tops.
  101. >The water could not be spit out fast enough.
  102. "Those...um...I can explain..."
  103. >Anon explained that Rarity must have stuck those in and that she probably should save them for a more appropriate time.
  104. >There really was no good way to explain lacy and sexy garments to Pinkie. But she seemed to understand, and set them carefully back into the box.
  105. "So, you see, Pinks, you have to save those for someone special. A boyfriend, or what ever you ponies call them."
  106. >Thinking to herself, Pinkie smiled.
  107. >"Thank you Nonny! I'll keep them safe...for just the right somepony."
  108. >Blushing to herself, Pinkie took Anon by the hand, taking him to the grass to go play with the other ponies as they promised. All it ann, it was a pretty relaxing day.
  109.
  110. -------------------
  111.
  112. >"I have been waiting...for FOUR HOURS! Spike, did you take the message to Anon like I'd asked, telling him to meet me in the Library today? I figured he'd forget, but to ignore a message.."
  113. >Spike stood there, the ice cream cone half in his mouth, few gems sticking out.
  114. >"Gee, sorry, Twilight! I went looking for him, and when I asked Rainbow Dash and Sweetie Belle, she said he was talking to Rarity and offered me ice cream...and...I sorta forgot?"
  115. >Twilight placed her hooves on her hips, her lab coat pristine and white, goggles shined just right.
  116. >She was the very model of a modern mental scientist.
  117. >She experimented on vegetable, animal, and mineral.
  118. >She knew the Royals of Canterlot, and all the spells were on her list.
  119. >But to not hit Anon was something like a miracle!
  120.
  121. >"Would it kill that human to just do as he's told JUST ONCE?!"
