  1. Dear Trevor Fitzgibbon,
  2. As members of the progressive community, we are offended by your attempt to reinstate your
  3. services. Together, we are committed to never working with you or your firm--we will not reward
  4. you financially for your cynical attempt to erase the damage you did to your employees and the
  5. progressive movement.
  6. It’s an unfortunate reality that our judicial system too often fails sexual assault survivors. The
  7. U.S. Attorney’s decision regarding your case is far from an absolution of misconduct. As
  8. members of the progressive movement, we believe survivors--and we won’t work with
  9. individuals who have a history of harassment and assault.
  10. Rape culture is alive and well in our society and, unfortunately, in the progressive movement.
  11. Too often, survivors are shamed, questioned, or forced into silence. It’s time for all of us to take
  12. a stand, together, against rape culture and for justice for survivors.
  13. Shaming survivors as you attempt to minimize your misconduct and market yourself as a
  14. champion of women is not only insulting, but a dangerous display of rape culture in action. We
  15. won't be complicit in your cover-up through this shallow, self-serving project masked as an
  16. initiative to end workplace harassment. It will do far more harm than good in the precedent it
  17. sets.
  18. There is no room for sexual harassment or assault anywhere in the progressive community.
  19. There is no room for retaliation and vicious personal attacks against survivors. We must
  20. collectively be vigilant in preventing it, calling it out, and responding to it. We encourage all
  21. progressive organizations to dedicate themselves to justice for survivors and join us in this
  22. commitment by signing this letter.
  23. Sincerely,
