Dan's Computer Donation Stream.

So the last few days have been... suboptimal. While I do not know WHY it occurred, both the motherboard and my hard drive completely crashed on my computer, necessitating a replacement for BOTH pieces.

So now my computer has a new motherboard and a brand new hard drive. The problem is that this cost me 400 bucks. The hard drive was 70, the mother board was 200, and the diagnostics and repairs (Since I didn't realize the hard drive died until the motherboard was bought and replaced), came out to 130. The tech that I had work on this with me said that it sounded like something out of House, as the computer would arbitrarily fail for random reasons at times, amongst other issues.

So why am I asking for donations? As always, you don't HAVE to donate. God only knows that I wouldn't donate to my stream myself. Maybe it's an objective opinion, maybe it's my self esteem issues shining through. I'll let you be the judge.

Regardless, this is 400 bucks at a time after I just got hired, ending 8 solid months of unemployment. Yeah, a month earlier and I'd have been royally fucked, huh?

Now, my hard drive had irreplaceable financial, video game, speedrunning data, along with amusing images, bookmarks, and pornography that would be difficult or impossible to replace. We're talking on the order of thousands of lost hours here.

In the interest of full disclosure, this incident brought my liquid assets (IE: Assets that are either cash or can be converted to cash extremely readily) to approximately 4,000 dollars. This includes money for the minor things, such as rent and student loan payments. Based on my hiring date, my first paycheck at my current job will be on April 22nd, for an estimate of $980.00. Afterwards, my semi-monthly paychecks will be an estimated $1,450.00. So if you're wondering, no, I don't have to declare personal bankruptcy as a result of this. And no, I don't have to take out loans, sell organs, or prostitute myself. I'll eventually be fine. However, this is a huge kick square in my testicles. I mention my current finances and income situation for those who wish to donate, as I don't wish to display myself as being any more financially desperate than I actually am.
