TIFU by taking the wrong medicine and almost killed myself.

This literally happened me to just a few hours ago. So I was having menstrual cramps and I couldn’t find the medicine I usually take so I went for an alternative and it turned out to be the biggest mistake of my life.

Instead of easing my pain, the medicine tripled my pain, I puked 7 times in 20 minutes and almost fainted but my husband took me to the hospital just in time. The pain was so excruciating that I wasn’t even able to stand.

Now because of the whole Corona situation we are under lockdown so when we reached hospital, people got scared just looking at me because I was pale, sweating, holding my belly and groaning in pain.

I was straight away taken to emergency. In my half dead state I explained what happened and I was immediately hooked up to the monitor and pierced with needles. It took 3 hours for me to get back to normal. They even did my pregnancy test to rule out Ectopic pregnancy.

In the end they told me it was the side effects of the medicine I took and turns out I am kinda allergic to a particular salt. Which I was never aware about. They told me it could have been fatal had I not reached hospital in time.

I was discharged but I still have other tests to be done and get proper medication. But I am traumatised. It was the worst pain and went on for 3-4 hours with the same intensity.

All this while my husband had tears in his eyes because there was nothing that he could do to ease my pain. I was crying and withering in pain and even the medicine took 2 hours to kick in.

My husband is literally the best thing happened to me in life but doctors are no less. I just wanted to hug the doctor who treated me. But, social distancing.

TL;DR: I took a wrong alternative for my pain killer and it turned out I was allergic to it, which I wasn’t aware about. It could’ve killed me had I not reached the hospital in time.
