 Why Bakkesmod is considered a virus according my antivirus.
Hi, I was trying to install bakkesmod for epic games and my antivirus say it is a virus, I know that is not a virus but I would like to know the technical reason of why think is a virus, thanks.
Since it's an .exe that tries to inject an unfamiliar dll (BakkesMod) into a running program (Rocket league), it's picked up by Anti Virus softwares. Methods like this are used aswell by malware, which is why files get flagged as a potential virus/ trojan, if they use this method, even though the file itself is completely harmless.

I made this comment originally after few demands to repair BakkesMod so it's not considered a Virus anymore. Since this post is now referenced from the stickied post I wanted to copy my answer here. Most important addition being that everyone should help "fixing" this by reporting it as False Positive:
There is no way to make new injector (after major changes) that would not be seen as a Virus. Only way is to report this as False Positive to your Virus Scanner developers (usually found as option in the quarantine or while getting the virus alert).
BakkesMod is legit and safe software to use as long as you download it from bakkesmod.com or update through the BakkesMod menu. The way BakkesMod works is to inject itself into the Rocket League executable, which is pretty much how many Virus' behave. The latest version of BakkesMod has not yet made it to the Virus Scanner's whitelist and that's why your Virus Scanner's standalone scanner flags it as a new/existing Virus. Your virus scanner will stop alerting from it after they confirm it as safe and whitelists it for you.
So you can whitelist it now yourself or wait for the Virus Scanner developers to whitelist it for you. This might take hours, days, weeks or any random number of days, depending how many people report the false positive and how active your anti virus software developers are.
You can be part of fixing this one! Even if you decide to whitelist it manually, you should still report it as False Positive so anyone installing BakkesMod in the future would get easier start. And this step will need to be repeated every time there is a major change to injector / bakkesmod.dll which will make anti virus consider it as a new type of treath.
