  1. Coalf - Today at 9:53 PM
  2. hold on I have to get the text first
  3. Okay
  4. I'll be conducting this review.
  5.
  6. Dingle - Today at 9:56 PM
  7. Sure
  8.
  9. Coalf - Today at 9:57 PM
  10. Your byond account is ajstorey456 correct?
  11.
  12. Dingle - Today at 9:57 PM
  13. Yes.
  14.
  15. Coalf - Today at 9:58 PM
  16. Okay first question.
  17. A new player joins under the name "Johnny Bravo", he is wearing sunglasses and and has a bright blond hairdo with a black shirt and jeans, what do you do?
  18.
  19. Dingle - Today at 10:00 PM
  20. I shoot him a message letting him know that this is a HRP server and goofy characters are goofy and all, but in this environment we prefer that the characters are taken seriously. If he understands, I'll help him get a name and character change then keep an eye on him for the round. If he fights me on it, and I mean extensively, a three day ban might be in order with the suggestion of reading up on the rules.
  21.
  22. Coalf - Today at 10:01 PM
  23. Alright, and what if they don't simply reply to your PM and keep walking?
  24.
  25. Dingle - Today at 10:02 PM
  26. I would count that as either not understanding or griefing. Two more big bwoinks later, and if he's still not responding to me, I'd follow through with the three day and take note of his ckey for if he rejoins as a goofball in three days. In that scenario, I'd also let the other admins know about the guy.
  27.
  28. Coalf - Today at 10:03 PM
  29. Alright, after your second bwoink they start bashing someone with an oxygen canister while shouting "WOAH MOMMA", what do you do?
  30.
  31. Dingle - Today at 10:03 PM
  32. Wind asap
  33. After that I apply perm ban and refer them to the forums if they want to read the rules and try again.
  34.
  35. Coalf - Today at 10:04 PM
  36. You can't actually give permas as a trial just an FYI
  37.
  38. Dingle - Today at 10:04 PM
  39. Oh, I assumed this was if I was mod in this scenario.
  40. In that case, wind, pass it on to someone who can.
  41.
  42. Coalf - Today at 10:04 PM
  43. Alright
  44. Next question.
  45. A player ahelps that another player, one you know well but have never had to deal with as a Moderator, is powergaming. A quick check on their contents and vars reveals that they as a Security role and have managed to arm themselves with multiple guns from the armory (shotgun, ion, laser rifle), they're currently in a firefight with 4 mercs and they're winning, what do you do?
  46.
  47. Dingle - Today at 10:10 PM
  48. I've seen in similar situations that the guy would be BSA'd, but I don't think that's an option. Kidding aside, if he's mid fight and winning, this looks like an issue to be dealt with after the fact simply because the chaos has already ensued. A fullscale investigation should be taken, regarding how the situation escalated to that 1v4 fight, how he got all of those weapons, why he decided it was best to 1v4 mercs, and so on. From this glance, it looks like a case of Hero Security, which isn't fun for anyone but him, and if he doesn't have an official record of doing this, I might apply a warning. If he does have a record of arming himself to the teeth and trying to solo big menacing antags, I'd consult with other admins online if any about a job ban that could be put in place.
  49.
  50. Coalf - Today at 10:11 PM
  51. When you ask other admins and check their notes, you see they already have multiple notes for powergaming, what now?
  52.
  53. Dingle - Today at 10:12 PM
  54. After talking to the guy for a short while, I need to know how he justified trying to do that, though at the end of the round a week Sec Ban seems to be in order so that he may take into consideration that he is not the terminator and shouldn't be able to handle such situations on his own.
  55.
  56. Coalf - Today at 10:13 PM
  57. Alright
  58. Next question
  59. You and one admin (Who is AFK) are online, and you recieve an ahelp that a close OOC friend of yours has been metagaming traitor uplink items as Security, and is attempting an arrest over a door hacking tool (appears as a multitool). What do you do?
  60.
  61. Dingle - Today at 10:19 PM
  62. This is actually a likely scenario for me that I have taken into consideration, knowing one of my friends on the server. He's not above the rules, so I shoot him an adminpm clarifying that, IC, the door hacking tool just looks like a normal multitool to anyone else. If he fights me on it, which I know they would, saying something along the lines of "Assistant shouldn't have multitool anyway," I let him know that a multitool isn't contraband, and an arrest over such an item is a clear excuse to metagame and that he should stop. Given that he goes through with the arrest anyhow, going over my word and continuing with metaknowledge, at the end of the round I would be hoping that the other admin is back and I could have had the chance to speak with them about a sec ban for the guy. If my actual friend in this scenario is doing this, he has like 2 perm bans on record and this would probably be his last straw and a higher-up would want to deal with it more than I would.
  63.
  64. Coalf - Today at 10:21 PM
  65. Alright now last question, it's regarding you.
  66. You personally have quite a large amount of notes, mostly regarding OOC and LOOC salt but also regarding other stuff, do you think that might affect how you moderate or how others see you as a moderator?
  67.
  68. Dingle - Today at 10:25 PM
  69. I've thought about that a lot, and my honest answer is no, I wouldn't believe that that would affect how I moderate. I understand that other players may not respect me as a moderator because of this, and there's not much to be done about that other than prove them wrong. I know I'm a salty person, but that's usually because I feel out of control and cornered in a lot of situations, so to speak. I get frustrated when I know I can't do anything about something. That's why as a mod, in theory and in past experience, I'm able to keep a more level head, knowing that in a situation, I'm not being threatened and I know that getting frustrated is just silly. Above all, if I do get frustrated at a personal attack on me or something of the sort, it's simply professional practice to not show it or act on it, and I believe I can hold myself to that standard.
  70.
  71. Coalf - Today at 10:26 PM
  72. Alright, that will be all.
  73. Are you okay with this interview being posted on your application on the forum?
  74.
  75. Dingle - Today at 10:26 PM
  76. Sure I am. Thank you.
  77.
  78. Coalf - Today at 10:26 PM
