  22. Sælta is a male deer. His fur is ashen with flecks of chestnut and a white tuft of white fur on his chest, and has faded blue eyes. Sælta an unfortunate accident of an a sacrificial cult. Born into a dark tribe of voodoo-practicing stags (born under the name Salt), he at a young age was chosen to be sacrificed to their god of death to prolong the life of their elders, which had lived for nearly four hundred years. Salt went without hesitation, already dealing with depression at a young age and ready to meet his end as he marched to the stone. However, part way through the ceremony, a great cacophony was heard, and thunder shook the sky. A voice so deep that it rumbled the ground came from above, the elders of the tribe all went limp, dying on the spot. Salt was shocked from his place of binding, the ropes that tied him to the sacrificial stone coiling around him and whipping him, and a voice came out from him that was not his own, stating that Salt would be the vessel of a powerful demon, and should he be released a great plague would sweep the world for thirty years. He was to be in constant pain, and if Salt was ever painless, the demon would be freed from his prison within the deer. In his mind he knew he had changed as well, and took the name Sælta (in his language "Shunned") and fled before he could be captured, imbued with both the powers of a demon, and the fear of a child.
  23. Now twenty years later, Sælta explores the world, hoping for a way to remove the demon which resides in him, in constant, self-inflicted pain. His back his covered with keloidal scars, and his hooves matted with dried blood. He is severely depressed, but remains hopeful for his future, and refuses to give up his life for the sake of the world. He's a very calm individual, but has bouts of anger he cannot control, often going into moments of rage he has trouble remembering.
