Destiny 2 New Player Guide for PvP Gearing

Free to Play brute force PvP gearing guide:

1. Tutorial skip

2. Talk to Ikora for Solar New Light kit for Sunshot

3. Talk to tower vendors to pick up every quest possible

4. Go to the lost quest kiosk and grab any available quest

5. Grab all Mara Sov’s Wish Quests in the HELM.

6. 1810 chest in hall of champions | DO NOT DELETE ANY 1810 GEAR!!! Lock them.

If you see any red box weapon, keep just 1 in your vault for future use for unlocking crafting later.

7. Do dares of eternity once, then talk to xur in treasure hoard. Grab all quests and the main 4 bounties.
Optionally grab a low cost bounty from Starhorse, but DO NOT TURN IN THE COMPLETED BOUNTY
In general, grab bounties to speed up XP gain. The goal is to unlock the Dreaming City destination.
Do as many dares as you want to to learn the game.

8. Talk to Ikora again and check if you can grab the quests that unlock exotic armor per subclass.
Try to passively complete subclass quests while doing other things.
At any point when you have enough glimmer, purchase the following void fragments from Ikora:
Starvation, Obscurity, and Persistence

9. Progress the Guardian Ranks until rank 7; save the Nightfall task for later.
at some point purchase a ghost on Nessus/EDZ from the main vendor (Failsafe/Devrim) if you do not own one, but do not level the ghost up immediately. You’ll be later asked to upgrade a ghost via guardian rank requirements.
Be sure to have completed the opening quest for Neptune planet.

10. If you unlock the Dreaming City early, you can unlock the artifact via the “Wishing All the Best” quest then go back to guardian ranks.

11. Level ghost to max and equip the Prism harvest ghost mod

12. Start Magnum Opus quest from Xur at the Treasure Hoard in Eternity. Finish the quest if possible now.

13. Continue into the “Wishing All The Best” questline until step 17 when you unlock the Lethophobia bow.
If you don’t own a rocket launcher, do the Coil method until you own the Sleepless rocket.
Keep doing Coil method, Riven’s Lair, or the Dreaming City resource routes until reaching rank 10 in Riven Vendor reputation. *more info later in doc
If you are playing with experienced friends, fully run the Coil activity.

14. Complete “The Descent” mission at the HELM, and progress the Sonar Station vendor.
Your goal is to unlock “Deep Challenger” by doing week 1 of “Into the Depths” questline.

15. Complete “Legacy: Awaken Queensguard” quest via the HELM.
Complete the following seasonal challenges: Righteous Defiance, Cunning Liberator, Legion’s Bounty
Spend the upgrade material on the following HELM War Table upgrades: Exemplar of Justice, Defiant Armor Focusing, Defiant Sojourner

16. Complete the Into The Light “Feats of Bravery” quest from Shaxx in the Hall of Champions
After, pickup all weapon quests

17. Consider doing the Guardian Rank 7 nightfall tasks now that you have a proper loadout.

18. Complete any Riven's Wishes quests you can. These are reccomended: Blind Well, Ascendant Chests, Lost Sectors, Rift Generator
Blind Well T3 ad slaying is about 20% per clear Est 50 minutes
Find Tinctures in patrol chests; follow any youtube guides for location of Ascendant Chests.
Clear Legend Lost sectors
Rift generator heroic is easy, or just complete 3

19. Redeem Wish Tokens for any of the following:
Speedloader Slacks
Last Wish weapons
Ascendant Shards for
Not Forgotten
Sturm
Polaris Lance
Or save shards for future armor builds.
Turn in all triumphs to get a free exotic cipher to use to buy exotic weapons.
You can also check the season pass and Xur for an exotic cipher.

20. Complete intro story quest “Darkness’ Doorstep” for Europa landing zone.
Complete the “Blast from the Past” quest up until the PvP/Gambit step.
Make a barebones PvP build, and consider doing the placement matches for the competitive playlist. Be sure to pick up all quests from Shaxx before starting. Get shotgun kills for “Blast From The Past”

21. Unlock Crafting via the Witch Queen campaign “Arrival” mission on Savathun’s Throne World.
Check weekly for Xur vendor. He appears randomly on Friday and lasts till monday. He sells an exotic cipher quest that you should pick up.

22. Make a second character.
Transfer via DIM a usable loadout, ghost, and sparrow from another character.
Skip Tutorial
Pickup 1810 gear from Hall of Champions chest.
Start the Neptune mission and immediately leave to unlock the Final Wish mission in the Dreaming City.
Continue those missions until you unlock the Spirit of Riven vendor in the HELM.
Use spare engrams on high stat armor focus. Don’t forget to put your ghost mod on desired stat.
Pickup legacy artifacts from War Table, Sonar Station, etc.
Earn Ascendant Shards from completing master nightfalls if inexperienced, or grandmaster versions if you’re confident. Use fireteam finder, or LFG services to find teammates.
Use Destiny Item Manager loadouts, or D2armorpicker to min max ideal PvP loadouts.
Check todayindestiny.com for lost sector rotation, and plan to farm exotic legs in the future.

Do either the Coil Method, Dreaming City Resource Route, or Riven’s Lair until unlocked “Wishful Armor Focusing” and “Wishful Generosity” seasonal challenge. This is at Rank 10 of the Riven Vendor. Potentially save spare engrams for a 2nd or 3rd character.

Coil Method
Load a private instance of the Coil activity.
Break all pots to unlock the path to the secret chest. Loot it. Reload activity.
Takes 1min30sec to 3 minutes with loads per chance at 1 dreaming city weapon per run. Sometimes armor drops. Sometimes drops Wish weapons.

Dreaming City Resource Route
Make you have the “Wombo Detector” ghost mod equipped. Bring a high zoom sniper. Zoom in to see far chests.
Load the Dreaming City landing zone. Collect all nearby chests and resources. These give you Riven rank reputation and a low chance of a Wish engram.
