  1. Hey all you cool people who support me. I have stuff to say about this past year, and 2017. It's a lot of info, but please read this.
  2.
  3. 2016: (A summary of my year.)
  4. In 2016, I achieved much more than what I originally set out for. Life-changing events that I will certainly never forget.
  5. Going into 2016, I only had two goals for my channel. Have fun, and grow while doing so. I met up with a ton of people at AGDQ, and had such a great time getting to know them. To my surprise, they all seemed to really like what I was doing on Twitch. The kind words and encouragement gave me a huge nudge of motivation to work harder on my streams. After a few applications in March & April, I earned Twitch Partnership in June. After 1 year of streaming every day, a dream came true. A month flies by, it was time to hop on the plane for Minneapolis already. Seeing all of my buddies and spending quality time with them meant a lot more to me than the last GDQ. I was just happy to see all of them again, which led to even more enjoyable experiences than the last event. I ran Jet Set Radio at SGDQ at 7 in the morning. To my surprise, it was one of the most hype and fun graveyard-shift runs of the entire week. Returning home, I was in such a good mood, I ate In n Out and streamed before unpacking. The support I got in my first stream back home was insane. That night, the motivation came in a big wave and I was back on the daily grind to improve. Although I wanted to spend every day streaming, there was no way I was missing out on TwitchCon. SO, I went. Took a train to San Diego, stayed in a hotel with some friends, and had a great time. Met a ton of new people, as well as hugged the crap out of the not-so-new-anymore friends hehe. This event made me feel very different though. It wasn't like GDQ at all. For some weird reason it made me very emotional. I felt like I had finally found something worth putting my time towards. I felt like the right people were alongside me on the journey. It made me feel like music was something I shouldn't focus on anymore. It made me feel like I had shut the door on something I love, and opened a different one to something else I love just as much. So I cried alone in the hotel for an hour before leaving. After checking out of the hotel, I went to spend one last afternoon with some friends and then got on the train back home. I get home and realize... it's October. Spooky, spooky, SPOOKY HORROR! I was having a TON of fun streaming a variety of scary games, and everyone was enjoying the casual spooks. Despite streaming a bunch of different games over the course of the year, October was the month that made me realize something. I'm much more than what people think. (Summary over)
  6.
  7. So here are 3 things I just haven't been able to share since that realization after October.
  8. NOTE: What I'm listing below is very important for everyone to understand.
  9.
  10. 1: I am not that "Resident Evil / Silent Hill" speedrunner. I play a lot of different games.
  11. 2: I am a Variety Speedrunner. I am a Variety Streamer. I am Maxy. I do it all. (Unless it's an MMO or under Creative.) I love having a good conversation with just about anyone. Although, I may be a bit shy when it comes to saying something first.
  12. 3: If you're a speedrunner, I support you. I don't stick to some niche community and suppress others. I support the community as a whole, and I find that to be very important. I'm talking to YOU, fellow speedy men and women. Be open-minded, and embrace the awesomeness of each games formula for speedrunning.
  13.
  14. Also, I would like to address people who just seem to find it hard to network with me. Here's a few questions for you.
  15.
  16. - Are you a fellow streamer who doesn't know how they feel about networking with some speedy dude?
  17. - Are you sick of seeing him around and wondering, "who the fuck is this speedy guy?"
  18. - Do you want to fix this?
  19.
  20. If you answered Yes to all of these questions, talk to me. I'm very easy to get along with, and I'm literally on Twitch all the time. I wake up, I moderate, I eat, I stream, I raid, I moderate, I sleep. Repeat. I'm on Discord and Twitter as well, so there are a lot of ways to keep in touch. I get stuck under the RE / SH bus a lot, but don't believe that mumbo jumbo. Makes me feel like I was lodged into some odd-looking, niche hole of the Twitch Universe. I'm Maxy! I speedrun games, I slowrun games, and I'm just a chill guy! No need to put me under a specific label, ya know? Besides, I'm like the only consistent streamer named "Maxy". At least from what I've found so far?
  21.
  22. Now that I've addressed the annoying stuff, let's get back to good things!
  23.
  24. With all of these crazy events and milestones happening one after the other, I honestly thought the train would stop at the end of November. Boy, was I very very wrong. In the first two weeks of December, 50+ new subs helped us reach the goal of 250. 10 BRAND NEW EMOTES AHHHHH!! Hitting 250 Subs was the big cherry on top of this year. I would have never expected this amount of support, let alone hitting a huge milestone after having the button for only 6 months. I really look forward to 2017, knowing that Full-Time streaming is going to be a thing in the future.
  25.
  26. I have a Front Page spot on January 6th (Friday before AGDQ) for Twitch's Speedrunning Spotlight. I will start early and then wait for them to throw me on Front Page at 7PM PST. I will run Devil may Cry with some sick commentary, and then have a good chat afterwards about the run and AGDQ. Sunday night These two things are going to give the channel a big boost, but I am going to do my best to keep things the way they've always been on my channel. Good vibes, fast times, and a fun community.
  27.
  28. Thank you all for taking the time to read this. You are all very important to me, and it is your generosity and support that makes any of this possible. Thank you for following. Thank you for subbing. Thank you for throwing money at the screen. Thank you for supporting my content. Thank you for being there. Thank you for saying hi. Thank you for lurking. Thank you for showing me I CAN do this. Thank you.
