  4. ---------------------------------------------------------
  5. >You are Anon, a mercenary
  6. >And you just accepted one of the most dangerous jobs there are
  7. >You need to get a pastel colored unicorn horn for a collector
  8. >Why that s such a hard job you may ask? Simple
  9. >All mercenary friends you ve had died trying to get one for themselves, as a way to raise their reputation
  10. >Of course you cant have a reputation if you re not even alive so you decided to not go after it
  11. >You did spy some of your friends death though, having info on possible targets is never too bad
  12. >But on every failure it was just like a rehersal
  13. >The bullets they shot quickly lost their momentum as they got close to the unicorn and dropped to the ground
  14. >You have no idea how it worked, the bullets simply slowed down as they got closer to the unicorn
  15. >And on every one of the deaths the unicorns did the same thing
  16. >As soon the human got out of ammo they'd nod once and then they'd take a look at the dead human
  17. >Dead because somehow as they lowered their heads one bullet would levitate and later speed up after the human
  18. >Always killing the target in one shot
  19. >You always waited the unicorn to leave before getting away since seeing that sent a chill to your bones, no matter how many times you had seen it
  20. >Still you never refused a contract and you're not letting this one be the first
  21. >Sadly 'a unicorn horn' is too specific so you cant change the terms to make things easier on your contract either
  22. >Expecting the worst you get your most prized gun
  23. >A M82A2, factory new that you never shot it even once before
  24. >You loved that gun so much you couldn’t bring it to a mission
  25. >But since this will probably be your last mission you may as well use it
  26. >You were keen on sniper rifles so the knockback mustn't be any problem
  27. >The extra AP pack you got for it was also closed neatly inside a drawer
  28. >You've got it as an extra for a job before even thinking on getting this gun
  29. >Well both are going to be put on a good use tomorrow
  30. >And you hope that this physics bullshit doesn’t happen with you when you go against whatever unicorn you face
  31.
  32. >Today is the day
  33. >You wish you had a silencer because you heard this gun is quite noisy and noisy definitively doesn’t fit your style
  34. >So you also grabbed your M16A1, if you re not lucky to find one alone and need to be quiet
  35. >Still you will need to recover the corpse, but you will worry about that when the time comes
  36. >After some hours driving towards one of these pony villages you decide to hide in a bush and wait there for a lucky pick
  37. >After only a few minutes you hear hooves coming and ready your M16
  38. >Putting on the silencer you take aim for the mint unicorn
  39. >Man she s a beauty…
  40. >Fuck that, you have a job to do
  41. >Hesitantly you send a single burst at the non-suspecting unicorn
  42. >And just what you worried happened … well … happened
  43. >The bullets just lost their momentuum and dropped to the ground
  44. >You freeze on your spot waiting for the imminent death, never taking your eyes out of the unicorn
  45. >Time to join your comrades
  46. >Wait the unicorn is running away?
  47. >You try to recall what happened while you panicked
  48. >All that you remember was the unicorn's grin and the bullets floating on her side while running back
  49. >No one will believe you, that's for sure
  50. >Still you're not sure you should go on with the mission, the M16 was definitively useless
  51. >The M82 is far more powerful though and you have the AP rounds for it as well
  52. >In the end you decide to take your chances and a second shot, hoping those odds to change anything in the end
  53. >You keep listening someone say that lighting never strikes a spot twice on your mind
  54. >But the fear on failing the mission is far greater and you keep moving
  55. >You decided to hide somewhere very far from the road this time since you will be making quite some noise
  56. >Still this voice on your head is driving you crazy since everytime you stop it says its not far enough
  57. >You ve been driving your bike for many minutes when you finally reach enough distance to feel safe enough
  58. >Just about 1,5 kilometers (about 1 mile) away from the road
  59. >You dont waste time to get yourself ready and look at the scope, immediatelly seeing a lavander dot in it
  60. >After increasing the scope zoom you see that its a winged unicorn trotting down the pathway, certainly wary of her surroundings
  61. >Seems like you hit a hotspot on this road
  62. >Or maybe it was the mint unicorn fault
  63. >All you know is that winged unicorns are way too rare to pass the opportunity, you may even ask for a bonus for it
  64. >You take note of the wind to make sure you will get the right trajectory before finally taking the shot
  65. >The noise was even greater than what you expected and no wonder it alerted the alicorn, who stopped on its tracks and looked directly at your position
  66. >After what seemed like a full minute looking at the alicorn's eyes and it looking back the AP round you fired finally made contact with the side of her chest and she dropped instantly
  67. >You cant believe you actually fucking did it
  68. >Even though you actually missed where you actually aimed the shot, she stopped on the perfect place to get hit
  69. >Not wasting any time you hurry up to where you shot her, hoping no other pony comes by and see the body
  70. >This time the drive didn’t took half as long it took you to get up the hill
  71. >As you begin to approach the place you finally notice that she actually got blown away a fair distance by the shot by the marks on the ground
  72. >You knew this gun was strong but damn
  73. >You finally arrive the area and notice that the alicorn is still alive, since she s slowly beating her wings as if trying to flee
  74. >You also take note that its possible to see a small translucent purple dome around her
  75. >She s on the ground seemingly unable to move any of her forelegs
  76. >Her backlegs on other hand are visibly shaking, and as you approach she stops moving her wings and closes her eyes on fear
  77. >The dome gets brighter and you ready your M82 to make the killing blow, not taking any chances of retaliation
  78. >As soon the pellet makes countact with the shield it explodes in many pieces and shatters everywhere
  79. >Including you
  80. >The pieces are small so you don’t take any major damage, yet now you re bleeding pretty much everywere
  81. >The alicorn still there, now with her eyes open looking at you pleadingly
  82. >The first unicorn was a beauty, this one looks cute as fuck now on a closer look
  83. >What are you doing with your life
  84. >You grab a twig from a nearby tree and try to bypass her shield
  85. >Nothing happens to it so you re confident your next idea wont result on you losing an arm
  86. >Slowly you advance inside the dome and grab her
  87. >Her wings flutter a bit but besides that there's pretty much no resistance
  88. >Goddam her fur is so soft you just want to stay here and pet her
  89. >But you have a job to do so you put her on the back of your bike and ride back home
  90. >The purple-ish aura that was around you two starts fading and curiousity takes the better of you, making you slow down and look back
  91. >She has her eyes closed and no sign of movement either as far you can tell
  92. >The guilt is too big and you stop and check if she s breathing
  93. >Yea she seems alright, even if her breathing is uneven…
  94. >...you start questioning why you did this
  95. >Finally you take her out of the bike and place her on the ground to give her some first aid, removing the bullet and bandaging the spot
  96. >Its better to bring her to your home instead of returning to the collector who asked for the horn until you clear your mind
  97.
  98. >Its been one week
  99. >Twilight, the alicorn you caught, is also able to speak which made things much easier to do around her
  100. >She also has made a full recovery in mere 3 days, but you asked her to stay longer to get better
  101. >Not only because she was fun to talk too, but you were honestly worried for her
  102. >You cant deny you loved petting her too
  103. >And by the sounds she made she probably also loved it
  104. >You didn’t even had to enforce it with a gun or anything, just talking and reasoning with her was enough
  105. >That was what hit you harder, remembering of putting a bullet in her some days ago
  106. >You wouldn’t have pointed a gun at a pony nowadays after having twilight by your side for all this time
  107. >About that, you ended canceling a contract for the first time
  108. >The collector sure wasn’t happy but you were not going to turn Twilight in
  109. >You wish you could keep her as pet but she is sapient so she probably would want to get back to her home
  110. >You wonder if you could stay with her there if that s the case…
  111.
  112. >You just finished eating lunch when darkness rolls by the city
  113. >Many ponies, earth ponies, pegasi, unicorns and even the legendary alicorn sisters attacked your town
  114. >Being just a village and not having any defensive sistems it was quickly devastated
  115. >You and Twilight snuggled on the sofa scared before a royal guard peeked from the window
  116. >Well only you were scared really, but Twilight stayed there trying to tranquilize you
  117. >After a few seconds the guard went away and a golden explosion blew away the wall just to the side of your door
  118. >After the dust settled you finally saw a white alicorn standing there on the other side
  119. >Celestia, the one whose stories were the craziest you ve ever heard
  120. >She just stood there, judging you while having some sort of a staring contest
  121. >You were so scared you held on Twilight as firmly as you could, knowing no matter what you did your fate was sealed
  122. >The white alicorn finally acted, sending a bright golden beam directly at you, only to ricochet on nothingness and fly to the ceiling
  123. >The beam was straight and continuous so you were quick to assume that was Twilight’s doing, somehow
  124. >But after seeing the scene unfold your mind decided you had enough and you passed out
  125.
  126. >You wake up with your head on Twilight’s belly, with her petting your head like you did many times with her
  127. >You vision is blurry but you can notice another being on the other side of the sofa
  128. >After rubbing your eyes you notice it’s the regal alicorn from before
  129. >Surely she wanted you to feel the pain and waited you to wake up before killing you
  130. >The petting you re receiving from Twilight sure calmed you down though, like nothing could harm you now
  131. >Besides that one alicorn
  132. >”Anon I just wanted to thank you from saving my student from the other human who shoot her, I don’t know what could happened if you weren’t there for her”
  133. >What?
  134. >But you re the one who shoot her
  135. >Unless Twilight though you fought and defeated the bloody guy, which was also yourself
  136. >Not hearing any answer from you the white alicorn continues, interrupting your thoughts
  137. >”As a token of gratitude … and apology … you re more than welcome to live with us in equestria for as long as you like”
  138. >Wait what?
  139. >”You can live with me if you want, I could take care of you while you get used to it”
  140. >This last one was definitively Twilight talking, yet you have no idea what the two are on about
  141. >”I left -my- magical signature in you, so you can bypass the human shield the princessess set up"
  142. >"Also whenever you want to go there I ll be able to track you and escort you, i assure you nopony or guard will harm you either“
  143. >The way twilight said ‘my’ was a bit unsettling, being able to track you at will didnt seem like a good idea to you either, being a hunter and all
  144. >Meanwhile the white alicorn was just giggling on her side of the sofa, immediately changing to a poker face when you looked at her
  145. >Before you can understand the situation both of them started waking to the door
  146. >Or rather the hole to the side of it
  147. >You notice a dark blue alicorn also go to that way, which you didn’t even noticed was there in the first place
  148. >And she keep staring at you all the way there
  149. >All the 3 of them said their good byes and flied away after getting outside
  150. >After some time has passed you go outside and look around
  151. >The village was no more, not a single human soul to be seen
  152. >You look at your own house, before a 2 floor building, now the 2nd floor is no more and the only space that remains untouched is the way from the door to the sofa
  153. >You fall to your knees and start whimpering, thinking what to do with your life
  154. >You hear heavy flapping from wings and look back to see Twilight descending
  155. >She notices your distress and looks around before saying with a smug:
  156. >”This is what you get for shotting and kidnapping a princess…”
  157. >Your brain took a while but you recognize that smug
  158. >Its same one from when she decided to stay with you
  159. >She planned it all throughout
  160. >Worst of all, she actually knows the truth and don’t think you saved her from a bloody evil twin brother of yourself
  161. >You feel the need to say something to save yourself, but before you can interject she locks her eyes with your own
  162. >”…and this is what you get for saving her”
  163. >Not giving you time to think she leaps foward and gives you the most sincere and warmest hug you ever received
  164. >You meanwhile just stand there, shocked
  165. >After a good while, noticing she wouldn't get her hug back she releases you
  166. >She still keeps a hoof on your sholder and look at you direct on your eyes
  167. >"I hope that even though we had a rough beggining we can get to become friends someday"
  168. >"Also you probably know how to get there and i can track you if you get lost, but here s a map on how to get to my castle"
  169. >She levitates a piece of paper to the ground in front of you and start flying away again
  170. >"Until then Anon" - She says before speeding up
  171. >You could just plot revenge and go there to show how much you enjoyed this 'time' she decided to stay with you
  172. >But then again you truly did enjoy it
  173. >There was also some part of you that wanted to live there, wanting more of the pleasant chat you two had at the sofa
  174. >No rent or expenses would be good too
  175. >But you re not sure you want to live with the ones responsible to the destruction of your village
  176. >But then again you re the only one to be blamed
  177. >You take your guns, the map and start to walk away
  178. >Its not like you can restart here so may as well go somewhere, maybe you could restart there
  179. >Even though you re not sure what to do when you do get there
  180. >You sigh, unknowlingly leaving your hunter ways behind and starting to tread the hard path of friendship
  181.
  182. The end
