Personality: Hot-tempered, hasty, and foul-mouthed, Ken is a violent person. He's been kicked out of pretty much every school in his hometown for managing to pick a fight with literally every delinquent. That's not to say he's a BAD person... He just really likes fighting. He's a decent student, even if he tends to show up with a black eye and messed up clothes, he feeds stray animals, and he won't stand for actual bullying. The fact he rushes headlong into danger is actually a pretty valuable trait for a hero.
Abilities: Many of the more recent generations of heroes get additional forms, or gimmicky powers from collectible trinkets that they use once and immediately forget about. Ken doesn't. But he more than makes up for it with pure, overwhelming brute force. Ken can transform into a monstrous humanoid beetle, gaining the powers of the two beetle kamis of the forest near his hometown: the ability to lift over a thousand times his weight (with striking and jumping power to match) and a bulletproof, shiny shell.
Skills: Motorcycle maintenance, karate, dirty fighting, first aid, and flower arrangement.
Brief Backstory: Ken's family is very loving and understanding, which leaves many to wonder why he likes fighting so much. One look inside the family photo album, however, reveals that mom was a sukeban and dad is a three-time MMA champion. Despite their tendency to come to blows, they're a well-loved and respected pillar of the community.

Ken got his powers when, at the last school he went to, some of the undead samurai kidnapped a few cheerleaders so they could offer human sacrifices to the beetle kamis of the forest. Well, the beetles got kind of pissy after being awoken from their centuries-long hibernation and started to rampage, the distraction allowing Ken to beat the samurai senseless with a stolen baseball bat. It was then he set to fighting the beetle kamis, using all the dirty tricks he knew- sand in the eyes, stamping their feet, getting them to hit each other, and several things that were blacked out of Ishinomiri Academy's records for fear of giving the villains ideas. In the end, he managed to keep the beetles busy long enough for them to vent their rage. Impressed with the human boy's courage and perseverance, the two kamis let Ken choose between the powers they granted to the heroes who defended the town centuries ago- the overwhelming strength of the rhino beetle, or the impenetrable shell of the stag beetle. Ken asked for both, giving him the ability to assume his monstrous form... shortly before he was expelled for stealing school property and a string of violent encounters. Thankfully, Ishinomori Academy heard of his heroics and sent him a written invitation.

Something-something fought the beetle kamis of his hometown, earning their respect and the powers they granted to champions in times of old.
