- >You are Anonymous the Lich
- >You despise everything in this world, least of all the insufferable natives.
- >You have been studying them for a month now.
- >You loath having been here this long, thankfully the area around your tower is beginning to become blighted and poisoned by the nexus of Negative energy and the thinness of the walls between here and the Shadows.
- >God sent it is that you now no longer have to deal with pesky green tree’s, it does little to ease your cold hatred.
- >You’ve sense discovered that the ponies of this land have arms and armor, mostly for ceremonial purposes.
- >You’ve discovered that they are far-spread and populate most of this continent.
- >And, most annoyingly, they have been discovering you.
- >It matters not.
- >The gears are in motion, already their world is ending.
- >These mortal fools are just too short-sighted to see it.
- >You are Twilight Sparkle.
- >There is some serious Hayseed going on in town these past few weeks.
- >It began simply enough,
- >Near dusk, ponies would hurry home, a feeling of general unease falling over the town.
- >Recently, ponies had begun to report shapes in the darker alleys on the town, and of an oppressive darkness in the streets that smothered the lamps and left entire sections dark.
- >You have been noticing books left open, or disorganized.
- >You cannot ignore it, something is very wrong.
- >You are returning home and the sun is setting, yet the town is much darker than it should be.
- >A shiver runs down your spine, as you chance a look behind you.
- >Your basket falls from your mouth, a days shopping spilling on the ground.
- >Rising from the darkness, a tall figure oozes out, blazing green eyes boring a hole into you.
- >You scream and run, abandoning what you dropped.
- >A haunting, hoarse laughter echoes through the empty streets as you crash into your library.
- >You knew who that was.
- >You knew that voice.
- >But what was it doing here?
- >What did he want with Ponyville?
- >There’s only one solution.
- >You know he’s a human.
- >You know he can do magic.
- >Time to consult your books for any information regarding Humans, and as much as you can on magic.
- >Time passes in a blurr as you meticulously flip through book after book, finding nothing on humans.
- >What little ponies knew of dragons, they knew even less of humans.
- >There was not a mention of them in her books, a massive black hole in their history.
- >Exhausted, having found nothing, with the middle of the night upon you, you decide to turn in for the night.
- >You hop in bed.
- >Pull up the blanket.
- >Blow out your candle.
- >As you turn over to go to sleep, you think you see movement out of the corner of your eye.
- >Spinning around, you see nothing.
- “Must just be my imagination…”
- >There is a stillness to the air, your hair stands on end, a raspy whisper with a grave bemusement.
- >”Of course, mortal. Just your imagination.”
- >You don’t sleep for the whole night, the mocking laughter ringing in your ears.
- >The sun finally rises, at long last.
- >You’ve not slept all night, for fear of what Anon might do.
- >You never caught sight of him, but you’ve not felt safe all night.
- >Anon was always watching that night, and you could always see something in the inky blackness.
- >Whatever he was, he was not natural, and not present in any of your library’s books.
- >You needed to seek out Princess Celestia.
- >She would know what to do.
- >You race out of your house, a freshly-roused Spike in tow, and head to the train station.
- >The Princess needed to know what was going on, and fast.
- >Ponyville had a dark shadow falling over it, and if the last night was any show, you were all unprepared for what was about to befall the peaceful ponies of your home.
- >You do not spy a form in your window, looking out after you.
- >You do not hear his deep, deathly laughter.
- >You are too focused on warning the princess that you cannot see the strings.
- >You are Celestia, and for the first time in a very long time, you have no clue what is happening.
- >Reports are filing in from all across your country of night growing more and more heavy.
- >Luna is not responsible, she’s already working hard to repair the damage done by Nightmare Moon.
- >You have no idea what is happening, and the sleepless, fear-ridden Twilight Sparkle does nothing to ease your nerves.
- “Now, Twilight, please. Speak slowly and clearly.”
- >Twilight takes a deep breath, steadying her nerves.
- >”Two weeks ago, about, there was a massive flux of magic in the Everfree.”
- >You not to show you’re following, concern on your features.
- >”I, along with my friends, investigated the cause of this, and found a massive tower.”
- >Odd. A tower in the middle of the Everfree?
- “Continue.”
- >”We explored outside for a moment, before going inside. When we entered, the door slammed shut behind us.”
- >Worry for your students safety rises, tempered only by how she is still alive and before you now.
- >”We found somepony… Something, inside. It was tall, and thin, and had long, thin arms. It had claws like Spike does, and its head was white, as was everything else.”
- >You freeze solid, recognizing something critical, but you let Twilight continue.
- >”It talked for a little while, asked us questions over tea, then let us leave.”
- >Your heart nearly stops
- ”Did you drink any of the tea?”
- >”No, Princess, but Rarity did.”
- “Is Rarity alright?”
- >”Yes, Princess, she’s fine.”
- >Thank your stars nothing was done to them by this monster.
- >”Afterwards, things began to become… Off. Ponies felt like they were being watched, my books would become disorganized..”
- >She trails off, and you have difficulty seeing the connection, until she mentions-
- >”And other ponies said they saw something with green eyes watching from the shadows.”
- >Your world stands still.
- >Your legs grow weak.
- >You know what’s happening now, something you had hoped would not come.
- >You look wearily at the haunted Twilight Sparkle, nearly collapsing.
- >You share the same status, shaken to the core as you realize that a creature of Darkness now runs rampant in Equestria.
- >You have only ever encountered one before, and it was a lesser beast.
- >Even so, it was a trying battle, the scars of which can still be seen today in how precariously Canterlot Castle hangs over the cliff edge.
- ”I understand. Thank you for taking this information to be, my Dearest Student.”
- >”One more thing, Princess. It called it’s self a ‘Human’. Does this name mean anything?”
- >A human?
- “I’m unsure as to what one is, I’ve never seen one.”
- >The possibility of a creature harnessing the diabolical essence of the shadow-world is frankly horrifying.
- >You hope that whatever it is, it does not attract more of its’ kind to Equestria.
