Backstory ;
Kai was born and raised in Tianjin, China. He grew up an only child. He and his parents had quite a good relationship, being able to go to them about any troubles that he had or any situations he was going through. Though they had very demanding jobs, they still always tried to make time for him and if they couldn't then they would always try and make it up to him.

From a young age, he always showed natural musical ability especially with instruments. Learning instruments was like learning how to walk for him and it was clear that it was his calling. His parents wanted him to pursue this and so they encouraged him to enrol in Berklee College of Music once he was old enough. So from young he dedicated his time to music and building up his resume for Berklee.

When he was 18, Kai took a gap year in order to destress from school. He used this year to travel and also just to better himself because he knew that he would be too busy if he decided to do this during college. During his gap year, he travelled to South Korea and he immediately fell in love with the place. This love for the country was heightened when he went to a festival where a bunch of kpop acts performed. He loved everything about the festival and because of that one concert, he made an important life decision.

When he got back from South Korea, he received a letter and email from Berklee. He had been accepted. However, Kai no longer wanted to go to Berklee, he now wanted to be an idol. It took a bit of time to break the news to his parents but after about a week, he finally told them. They took it hard at first and although they were a bit disappointed, they supported his decision nonetheless.
