Her hair rests in ripples about Her face, chestnut, highlighted in blue that weaves in and out among the curled strands. A halo of prismatic colour surrounds Her as She steps to the front, coming to rest before Lief and Zitto. Where Her feet touch the ground, sprinkles of wildflowers blossom like droplets of colour, pooling in innumerable hues where She stands, radiating out to the two faelings before Her.

  69. She is a radiant immortal and glows with effulgent life, a powerful sense of vibrancy emanating from Her presence. There is something thoughtful and introspective about Her expression and Her brilliant golden eyes, as though She gazes farther into the soul, brushing aside the impermanent layers of existence to seek the truth within. Streaks of deep blue wind through Her chestnut hair as it falls straight down Her back to the hips, several shorter locks dangling forward to frame Her heart-shaped face. A thin line crosses the skin of Her left forearm, the only remnant of the scar from a savage bite. An aura of power plays about Her slender frame and sets Her tawny skin aglow in faint, prismatic hues.

"My dear Zitto. You came to Me in renewal, in seeking, to apply your mind to knowledge, to find Enlightenment in that which is true to yourself, and not beholden to a Truth of perfection, devoid of the meaning of growth." Her gaze flickers, as if taking in Zitto's entire existence in that moment.

"And in pursuit, you felt your soul dimmed, and your actions poisoned with that which is not your hope." She breaks in a smile that is slight but imbued with the glow of expectation. "And yet, of late you have found a new walk, bolstered by the colours of those who bloom beside you, and you pursue: you pursue one who draws forth your hues to greater brightness amidst the Verdant Land."

"I suppose I could swear all the things I've heard others say at their weddings - that I promise to be there for you, to love you, to dote upon you, to edit your books without reducing their cultural bearing for Hallifax - but you know all this already. I tell you these things every day. Our Lady sees them within my heart, and how could She not when it dances just to write it thus? And so I think about what might please me to read from you, but Zitto, you could say nothing at all, and it would delight me. I already know your mind, and in this matter, it is one with my own." He pauses here, taking the moment to stare adoringly at you, his heart in his eyes. After a few moments, he seems to remember he is meant to be reading and resumes speaking, "So instead, I think about the song that dwells within me, that music which has grown and grown since we both sat beneath the cherry blossom tree that one day in Avechary, fumbling over questions our uncertain hearts wanted to ask but our glib tongues knew not the words for. I remember your smile from that day, and how it bloomed when I swore to you, glass of whiskey in my hand, that I would never stop seeking your company. How could I forget it? I have chased that smile ever since."

It wasn't supposed to be a confession, but I've never told you why the flower bud remained closed, nor what sin it spoke of to the moon, have I?" Zittos brightness fades somewhat here, and he takes on a more serious tone as he reads on. "Its sin was fear. For I am Unbroken, and the thought of letting you into my heart terrified me more than I dare write. What if your regard was born of your endless kindness? What if your affections were true, but I could not give you enough of my heart, so full already with love for our Lady and the Forest She adores? What if we overcame all that, and the darknesses in me were what drove you away? What if even they were tolerable, but hateful, wyrden Shadows made me choose, somehow, between you and Her?"

  306. Zitto pauses in his reading to look again at you. His expression is tender, and once again his eyes grow moist. "But then I lost your smile. Your face fell when I told you a confession wasn't my intention, and it shattered me." Happiness once more overtakes his face as he continues, "At that moment, I knew that all of the questions crowding my mind mattered little.
