Rosque roleplay sample Jam&Toast pathfinder

[7/24/2018 4:55:05 PM] Rosque: An unassuming brown kobold steadily moved through the Caves of Unsettling, walking up to the walls at strategic high-population points before placing her hands against them to deliver her magical payload. She had picked her target carefully. Public space. Medium-high population, but not too high that people would immediately come to see what she's up to. Far enough out of the way that it wouldn't be in the way, but close enough to draw a crowd before it went off. She smiles, as far as anyone else knew, just an ordinary regular kobold wandering through the caves. This was her third trip around, but it pays to measure twice and cut once. She pulls her hands away from the wall and moves away to the next one, leaving the magic in place to do its dirty work.

Prestidigitationed into the rock coloration itself in bright bold letters. That's the last one! She heads off towards her target. Magic time~!
[7/24/2018 4:59:04 PM] R: The red scaled kobold spies the marks on the wall, knowing that they'd expire in an hour. She wasn't exactly sure when they were placed there, as she had to deal with being let back in, somewhat easy with her renown of working with Phenteo. She decided that it would be likely that the king of kobolds would be present there, assuming he was interested in such parlour tricks, and was aware of the event, of course.
[7/24/2018 5:02:18 PM] F: Skra paused -- there was a sign for a magic show. In the square, no less. It couldn't hurt to go see the show -- it probably wouldn't take too long and, hell, it would be more interesting than listening to the wealth of legal jargon he was likely to walk in on. He altered his course, making his way meanderingly toward the square to check out this show.
[7/24/2018 5:09:27 PM] Rosque: Jam busies herself preparing for the show. Words are exchanged. Spells are cast. She prepares some of her props inside her magic bag, waiting for the time to start. The now-green kobold sighs happily, stepping out onto the main streets again as she looks around to see what her audience is going to be like...
[7/24/2018 5:12:50 PM] D:  A small crowd gathers around the show, and a sizable crowd gathers around the small crowd. One thing that Jam has learned in her year of performance is that nothing draws a crowd like a crowd.
[7/24/2018 5:23:28 PM] Rosque: Jam takes a deep breath, and slips out of the crowd to her "stage" area. Still just a regular green kobold. She subtly raises her hand. Time to start the show! She does her little trick, visualizing the shelter she's creating partially inside the ground with the top poking out above to form a level performance area as she casts the magic to form her stage. And soon after, it's on to part two. Another spell slung out as the kobold slips back out of sight, putting on her cape and reverting her scales color.

A glowing arcane symbol slowly draws itself on the stage, bright pink with flower petals forming in the air to swirl around it as the scent of fragrant flowers blows over the crowd. There's a bit of fanfare, a simple musical tune playing in the air as a booming voice announces her entrance! "And now presenting, the great magicians, give a warm welcome to the magnificent technicolor kobold Jam, and her fuzzy friend Toast!!"
[7/24/2018 5:24:41 PM] R: Cabirith hummed a little, folding her arms as she watched the performance magic ahead. Sure there was flowers, tunes, and other basic spells, but it was that, basic. Then again... She cast her gaze across the kobolds gathered, pondering how many of them had experience with magic.
[7/24/2018 5:25:08 PM] D: The crowd claps politely, many of them warming up to this performance so far, and those that remain reserved still respect the effort that went into this.
[7/24/2018 5:31:37 PM] Rosque: Jam takes a deep breath and lets it out, grinning wide. The stage starts to crackle with small fireworks and other miniature explosions, bursting with colored smoke as the flower petals burst into blue flame as they swirl around! The orange-scaled kobold vanishes, only to appear in the center of the stage invisibly, holding a hand up to the sky as the other one covers her eyes! Welp, here we go!

Glitterdust.

The kobold appears as the fanfare ends in a giant burst of sparkles that covers the stage, the kobold's cape fluttering majestically in a breeze that doesn't seem to exist! She spreads her arms wide and opens her eyes, grinning over at everyone to gauge their reaction!
[7/24/2018 5:35:20 PM] F: Skra watched with some level of amusement. There was certainly flash. And the kobold on stage seemed to have a feeling for showmanship. He crossed his arms and kept his eyes on the stage. It was too soon to make any real judgements about the performer.
[7/24/2018 5:36:25 PM] R: Cabirith remained somewhat unimpressed, but that was generally because she often resided in a realm of magical powers thrown around daily. That said, she continued to watch curiously, making sure that she was keeping herself aware of charm spells that would exist in such performances. It was an impressive show, even if it was basic, though. Hopefully when the act proceeded, there would be more interesting acts to come.
[7/24/2018 5:48:54 PM] C: One kobold in the crowd let out a sharp whistle, cueing the rest of the audience into an explosion of applause.
[7/24/2018 5:49:38 PM] Rosque: Jam takes a bow, more out of respect to the audience than in response to any praise, as she calls out to address them, four glowing spheres of light appearing above her, serving as a sort of spotlight. "Welcome, welcome! Thank you all for coming out to see our magic show!" The orange-scaled kobold calls out, her cloak still fluttering as she sets an ordinary-looking bag down on the floor. Suddenly, she vanishes from the stage! Those glowing lights zoom closer to reveal the kobold again, lounging on top of a nearby structure, her scales very clearly green this time! "We've got a great show lined up for you all! I really hope that you enjoy every moment!" She says. And then she vanishes once more. The lights zoom over to the other side as the kobold appears again, standing on her head and grinning over the crowd, on top of another structure. "But before we start, I just want to make sure you know that everything I'm doing is completely safe! Well... for you guys, anyway! We'll just have to try not to get hurt~" And then she's gone once more.

Cabirith would feel a presence beside her. The kobold is suddenly standing right there in the crowd, scales a bright blue this time as she clears her throat, looking around, the lights zooming beneath her to light her up dimly from below. "Wow, it's kinda nice back here." She says, a lot more mundanely than before. "I should be in the crowd more often; it's a lot less nerve-wracking then standing up there.."
[7/24/2018 5:52:43 PM] R: Cabirith was slightly more impressed with that teleport, though still not much. Unfortunately the side effect of being in a Magiversity was that most extravagant displays of magic felt almost mundane. The red kobold hummed, pondering what spell she used to teleport. A dimension door perhaps, or a shadow blink? Regardless, she let the kobold continue on with the show, she wasn't nearly chaotic enough to consider intervening with the act.

Kree let out a happy growl, which caused the crowd around the two to disperse slightly, allowing him to start shoving his way over to his friend... and to hopefully get a better look at this performer

"And after the show, we'll be around to talk and sell tarot readings and tarot blessings to anyone who's interested~" She says, the kobold now bright orange while her cloak and tail strips have become a colorful spattering of rainbows. She tilts her head. "But, I keep saying 'we', but I don't see my lovely assistant anywhere!" She says, frowning as she thinks, putting a hand to her chin. "Jeez, I hope I didn't forget her someplace...!" She says, swishing her colorful be-fabric'd tail around behind her.

[7/24/2018 6:05:55 PM] C: Phenteo's really diggin' on that tail clothing. Super cute! He frowns, though, climbing up out of the crowd-- finally pulling his hood back and mounting the stage. "In the interest of preventing a riot, Alexio, perhaps we can wait until after her performance has concluded to drag her off for questioning?"

[7/24/2018 6:08:50 PM] R: Cabirith hadn't noticed Skra or Kree, though now Phenteo was climbing the stage, she smiled a touch, able to track the leader of this cave. She continued to watch the stage, curious to what the kobold would do. What soon came to be was tarots and other magical readings, and she hummed a little, remarking how similar her costume was to other fortune tellers.

What a wonderful replacement for my wayward assistant, if you'd like to join in!" She calls out, reaching down and smiling at him while offering a hand. Wink.
[7/24/2018 6:11:37 PM] C: Phenteo smirks a little bit. "Yes, Alexio. You could really keep a close eye on her if you helped her out on stage." His stumpy little tail wags. "I apologize for the interruption," he adds to Jam. "Please, continue." He steps to the side, off the stage, and snaps-- and several kobolds rush over with a chair for him. Phenteo's really embracing the whole 'king' thing.
[7/24/2018 6:13:07 PM] D: "I...uh..." Legalmann said, looking awkward. "I'm not really...a performer..." he says, suddenly feeling the crowd's eyes firmly on him in the context of a performance. He decided that there was no fighting it and stepped on stage, pulling at his Taldori Lawyer Gear a bit as it suddenly felt hot.
[7/24/2018 6:13:44 PM] F: Skra finished making his way over to Cabirith, now that everyone's attention is on Pheteno. "Welcome back" He said to her, before turning his attention to the stage. "What do you make of her?"
[7/24/2018 6:16:56 PM] R: Cabirith was a little surprised when Skra welcomes her back. She gives a curt nod, replying  with a smile, "Thank you very much, good to see you're around too, Skra." Cab turned her attention to Phenteo, and then to Jam, "I'm not sure. She's a performer, but I can't get a read on her entirely."
[7/24/2018 6:21:01 PM] Rosque: Jam bows to the human. "Don't worry, my assistant is mostly in charge of backup safety!" She says, levitating a bottle out of the bag to hand to him. "Here, take this water. Just put out any fires you see if something gets out of hand." She says, and then turns to bow to the audience again. "But the chance of that happening is extremely unlikely!" She says, a small bit of smoke coming out of one of her tail strips. "After all, we take every opportunity to make sure our performances are as safe as possible!"
[7/24/2018 6:22:46 PM] F: "It takes a lot to get rid of me." Skra chuckled."But... yeah. I was thinking the same thing. They do have a flair for the dramatic, don't they? Though, what was that about tarot readings...?"

[7/24/2018 6:27:04 PM] Rosque: Jam spreads her arms out wide, smiling at the crowd as she continues. Another one of her tail strips starts smoking. The first one is fully starting to be aflame now as the little kobold continues explaining how safe she is. "And even in the event that something were to happen, as unlikely as it is, I can do something about it myself!" She says, as the sound of crackling fire starts to become audible in the background. "And even if, somehow, I were to not notice such a disaster, I have my lovely volunteer assistant, who can simply toss the liquid in the bottle out at whatever might be on fire to solve the problem, in this extremely rare hypothetical situation!"

[7/24/2018 6:33:05 PM | Edited 6:33:23 PM] Rosque: Jam leaps back away from the human as she's suddenly engulfed in flames, yowling and howling as she falls over onto the ground. "AaaAAaAA!" She calls out, covered in burning oil. "Oh gaaawds, it huurts!" She says, flopping about like a fish. "What have I done to deserve such a fate!" She says, comically and dramatically tossing her upper body back, in a soulful pose, still quite literally on fire. There wouldn't be any oil on the ground, though; just on her.

"My hero~" She says, turning over to the audience. "Let's all give him a big round of applause for such a great performance!" She calls out!

[7/24/2018 6:50:23 PM] D: Legalmann says something stern sounding, but the crowd still drowns him out. He goes down into the crowd, his face flushed-hot with a mix of confusion, embarrassment, and frustration.
[7/24/2018 6:55:39 PM] Rosque: Jam rubs her head. "Aww, but now I'm down an assistant! But I don't wanna put any of you through that. Hmm. Where is she?" She says, tilting her head to one side, then the other as in the background, a big pink silk hat slowly levitates out of the bag to float next to her. "Hmm.. I don't see her..." The sunny orange kobold sighs. "She's really... on my mind lately! You know... just worrying about her is really _weighing my head down_!" She says, just looking out to the audience. "I wonder where my lovely Toast is?" She says. "Do you guys have any ideas?" She calls out.

"I know you didn't eat her assistant." Skra said. "It's just more of the audience participation. She really wants to keep our attention on her."

[7/26/2018 2:57:08 PM] Rosque: Jam finally glances at the hat. "Hmm..." She walks over to it... and pushes her arm firmly inside, feeling around. It's... pretty obvious that there's nothing in there! She pulls her arm out after a moment, giving a shrug. Finally, she snaps! "Oh, I know where she is!" The kobold picks up the hat with a flourish, and places it on her head, pulling it back off to reveal a bunny rab--*holy crap* that's a big rabbit. Jam grins, balancing a white-furred bunny rabbit on her head that's practically the same size as her! "Say hello to Toast, everybody!" She calls out.
[7/26/2018 3:05:31 PM] Rosque: Jam blinks, looking up at the bunny, continuing to balance. "Huh. Y'know, now that I think of it, she doesn't exactly remind me of Toast. She looks more like bread. All white and everything." The kobold moves over to the bag on the ground, slowly lowering herself down while balancing that bunny ontop of her still. "That's okay, though! We can fix that." She says, pulling out a thick hoop from the bag. "All we gotta do is Toast her up a bit." She says, grinning as she sets the hoop up. It looks like one of those flaming circus rings.

[7/26/2018 3:24:30 PM] Rosque: Jam looks like she's about to light the ring on fire, but when she goes over to it, she instead... tilts it down vertically? And then she unfastens something... and shoots up into a giant spring-loaded set of six loops, eight feet high in the air. She grins to the audience, and inhales deeply before blowing out flames like a dragon's breath onto the spiral loop, causing it to burst into a blazing, crackling inferno!

"And just to prove how confident she is, I'm not going to do anything!" She says, just folding her arms. The rabbit sits there on her head.
[7/26/2018 7:55:53 PM] Rosque: ...Suddenly, the rabbit leaps up magnificently, clearing ten feet vertically in the air as she falls down through the burning rings of fire, landing beneath them on the ground, her fur having changed to a beautiful golden brown, particularly at the edges of the hairs. Jam applauds the rabbit's success!

[7/26/2018 11:46:19 PM] Rosque: Jam nods, and walks over to Toast, pulling the rings down and blowing them out one by one before they're clipped together and levitate back into the bag. "Toast is going to help me entertain you all! But... I don't think she can do some of them as she is now." Jam takes a deep breath and nods resolutely. "Well, ladies and gentlemen, I'm going to see if I can't do something about that. We're going to give Toast the power of a magician!"
[7/26/2018 11:51:50 PM] F: Kree tugged insistently on Skra's robes, and let out a whining growl.

"No, I have no idea how she's going to do that. It's probably related to familiars or something. She's clearly an arcane mage, so I can't give you wizard powers too." Skra said in a weary voice, almost like they'd had similar conversations before.

Kree looked almost dejected, but started dragging Skra through the crowd, toward the stage to get a better look at the show.
[7/27/2018 12:01:52 AM] Rosque: "At least I certainly hope it'll work! I've never tried -this- before!" She says, grinning. Jam slowly steps around Toast, drawing intricate markings in the rabbit's fur while she just sits there placidly, placing a big smudge of bright color on her forehead before she raises up her hands. "Hocus pocus! With the power I pour into thee, I grant you the powers of a true magician!" She says, and as her arms come down an enormous plume of fog bursts onto stage, billowing out in every direction, melting away in the warm air as it starts to hit the crowd.

"I... Don't know what you want. It's obscured by mist."

"Grar." Kree said, jabbing his finger insistently at the stage.

"If you insist, I guess I can try."

Kree looked about ready to rush the stage to chase the smoke off. Zombies had no patience sometimes.
[7/27/2018 12:10:23 AM] Rosque: Jam coughs and brushes away the fog as it slowly dissipates from the stage, rubbing her eyes as she looks around. "Toast? Hey, where'd she go?" She says, looking around. The rabbit's gone!
[7/27/2018 12:11:50 AM] F: "Don't look at me. I don't know where the bunny is." Skra shook his head. "Must have used some magic while obscured by the cloud."

Kree looked like he was having trouble wrapping his head around the concept.

"Just... Just keep watching the show. The bunny will turn back up in a second."
[7/27/2018 12:20:21 AM] Rosque: Jam rubs her horns, glancing around. "I could have sworn she was around here somewhere! Did the magic work?" She says. She frowns, two big pairs of ears flicking up behind her head. She tilts her head to one side. The ears follow. She turns her body to look to the right. "Toooast! Where are you!" She calls out, as a soft-looking toast-colored bunny person becomes visible, matching her movements as she leans in close behind the kobold.

Kree, however, let out insistent groans that Jam should look behind her!
[7/27/2018 12:29:09 AM] Rosque: Jam does! She turns her head left as Toast leans to the right, staying just out of her field of vision! She looks right, and Toast leans to the left! Jam whirls all the way around, only to see nothing as the bunny presses her back nearly up against hers, giving a wink to the audience. Jam turns to the right one more time, looking a bit frazzled... before she ducks down, darting her head between her legs. "Aha!" She calls out as, at the same time, Toast just... levitates above her, lounging on an arm in thin air, out of her field of vision again, giving the audience a comical shrug.

Eventually though, she finally looks -up-, and Toast falls into her arms, the two giving each other a great big hug as the kobold waves to the crowd. "Give it up for my lovely assistant Toast, everybody!" She calls out, the rabbit giving a sly wave to the audience. "Hii~" She calls.

[7/27/2018 12:40:57 AM] D: A gigantic, roughly 40-foot tall, golem made out of exposed human flesh and bones makes his way in a slow lumber to the front of the crowd, people nervously getting out of its way. It leans down to closely inspect Jam and Toast. "My name is Meatpile." it says in a whisper. "May I pet your rabbit?"

[7/27/2018 12:56:11 AM] Rosque: The two shake it off a bit, and then Jam sets Toast down, giving her a bow as the rabbit bounces and settles in, bowing back to her. Toast and Jam both produce a small colorful ball, seemingly from nowhere, tossing it up into the air. The second time they toss it up, there's two balls each! And then, there's three balls that they begin to juggle! All of a sudden, Toast gains a fourth ball, but this one glows quite brightly, tossing it high into the air... before juggling it with the rest of them, eventually tossing it to Jam as it makes the full circuit around and is passed back. The two start to pass the glowing ball quicker, only tossing it once, until they get really aggressive about it, juggling two balls in one hand and one in the other so that they're free to toss the glowing one. Finally, they're juggling all three balls in one hand and rapidly volleying the glowing one until Jam hurls it a bit off and it pegs Toast in the face, bursting into a puff of glowing powder before all the balls disappear.
[7/27/2018 12:58:56 AM] D: As Meatpile watches this dazzling display, first his mouth slowly drops agape, and then slowly curls into a toothy grin, and then her puts his hands to his mouth in surprise and concern as the very end of the trick catches him off-guard.

[7/27/2018 1:02:48 AM] Rosque: A glass of water levitates itself up out of the bag on stage, floating over to Toast. She takes it in her fuzzy hands, and drinks it down. Glug.. glug.. glug... until all the water in the crystal glass is gone. Then, Jam steps up to her, the rabbit lifts the kobold up into the air. She tosses her upwards, and spews a huge torrent of water at the kobold, causing her to soar up as she balances on the torrent on her tail! The water abates, and Jam slowly floats down, only to be caught in Toast's arms bridal style, winking to the audience. "What do you think, Toast? Time for the grand finale?" "Mmhmm! I think it's time we showed them the flash they came to see!"
[7/27/2018 3:07:56 AM] Rosque: The two stand next to each other and raise their hands. "Just remember!" "It's all part of the fun!" "Nobody's in any danger~" "So let's enjoy a fireworks finale, worthy of the new discoveries of the old world!" They say, as glorious tiny dragon-shaped fireworks manifest themselves in front of them, each raising their hands to send them careening off, swooping and zig-zagging through the crowd, winging between people's legs and past their heads before bursting harmlessly above them into glorious bursts of color, one firework every three seconds!
