SCP-2000, nicknamed "Deus Ex Machina" and classified as Protected Site-θ (Protected Site-Theta), is an SCP Foundation facility intended for the reconstruction of humanity following a K-Class Scenario. Despite the existence of this facility, it is considered to be a last resort.

After the SCP Foundation declared omnicide upon itself in order to stop the Entity in 2020, the eruption of the Yellowstone Supervolcano was triggered, which obliterated SCP-2000. The environmental effects were slowed with the Manna Charitable Foundation's anomalies, but Pietro Wilson theorized that it'd be a matter of time before the world is consumed by ash.

SCP-2000 is an SCP Foundation facility constructed underneath Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming hundreds of years prior to the present day. Its mission-critical components begin 75 meters (246 feet) below ground and extend to 100 meters (328 feet) of depth. 2000 is equipped with water treatment facilities, air purification and recycling systems for usable air in the event of an inhabitable atmosphere and waste, hydroponic production wings for food, and housing suitable for up to 10,000 personnel permanently. Most of the floor space of SCP-2000 holds storage of building materials, construction equipment, factory machinery, agricultural equipment, and computer database storage, as well as thousands of copies of cultural artifacts and a backup of the Internet.

SCP-2000 is primarily powered by a Liquid Fluoride Thorium Reactor (LFTR) operating at 1 GW with a 70-year lifespan at full capacity; accompanying the LFTR is a geothermal plant harnessing the power of the Yellowstone Supervolcano, which powers the facility in stand-by mode indefinitely. 500,000 Bright/Zartion Hominid Replicators (BZHRs) are installed within the facility, as well, with the capacity of producing 100,000 humans per day after a warm-up of 5 days. Raw material is funneled from the various hot springs and magma flows to the BZHRs via an underground Riemannian transit pipe.

Use of SCP-2000 can be achieved by as little as one human with Level 5/2000 access entering a "Resume Date", which engages Procedure Lazarus-01, activating the BZHRs within the facility and creating prominent figures of that era.

SCP-2000 is built above the Bloom, a flower that resets the universe when conditions are properly met. This ranges between an alliance between SCP-073 and SCP-076-2 to the deaths of prominent SCP Foundation personnel.

Object Classes, or Containment Classes under the Anomaly Classification System, are categories of anomalous entities used by the Foundation as an organization tool. The classes are ranked by their difficulty to keep in containment. There are five main classes, in which the majority of entities are under: Safe, Euclid, Keter, Neutralized, and Explained, with Pending being a transitory class.

A common way to determine the class of an entity is to use an informal guideline called the Locked Box Test, which is a thought experiment consisting of imagining an anomalous object within a locked box and the result of leaving it alone.

The Locked Box Test can't be used, as Explained SCPs would be considered non-anomalous and freed.

Veil Protocol


The Veil Protocol is a protocol followed by the SCP Foundation, the United Nations Global Occult Coalition, and many governmental agencies that seek to keep the anomalous from becoming public knowledge. This is to ensure that a global panic does not occur, and that the organizations keeping the anomalous in check do not lose their power trying to do so, especially in regard to extremely dangerous or powerful anomalies contained or targeted by the powers that be.

The Manna Charitable Foundation (MCF) (GoI-Lambda-33) is a decentralized humanitarian non-profit organization that assists devastated communities and people, especially in the case of anomalous events. The MCF also utilizes anomalous objects within its operations in order to effectively help people in need. It holds a firmly neutral position with most Groups of Interest, as well as the SCP Foundation.

Wyoming is a state located in the Western United States. Its bordering states are Idaho to the west, Montana to the north, South Dakota and Nebraska to the east, Utah to the southwest and Colorado to the south. Wyoming's most famous location is Yellowstone National Park, home to the Yellowstone Supervolcano and thousands of unique species within the park. The capital and largest city of Wyoming is Cheyenne.

Security clearance levels, or simply clearance levels, are clearances granted to SCP Foundation personnel, intended to grant designated personnel access to normally classified documentation, rooms, and general information. In certain areas, a clearance level may be granted for a specific SCP, such as Level 4/2317. For these exclusive levels, the levels do not grant any higher clearance outside that specific SCP.

An important distinction to make is that having a sufficient clearance level does not mean that any staff member immediately gains access to the information or area that they seek; information is only granted on a need-to-know basis and only by their respective superior's hand.

Rank within the Foundation and clearance levels are two different entities, though they occasionally go hand-in-hand. For example, a private in an MTF may have Level 4 clearance due to having knowledge of code-names, hand-signs, composition, etc. This is so that they may function accordingly in action, rather than be burdened by lack of access to the threat that they're facing.

Level 0, or Official Use Only, clearance is normally granted to non-essential personnel, such as logistical, administrative, or janitorial positions. However, these personnel are only given this access if they work in a facility that holds little to no anomalous objects or data, otherwise they are granted Level 1. This clearance is also given to allied GoI visitors of SCP Foundation facilities.

This clearance grants the bare minimum of access, with no documentation or sensitive data being granted to this class of personnel. Keycards are not granted to any member possessing this level of clearance.

Level 1, or Unrestricted (UR),[1] clearance is granted to non-essential personnel who work in facilities holding anomalous objects or data. Aforementioned positions in Level 0 are granted this level of access if transferred to one of these sites. Class-D personnel must always hold this amount of clearance.

Level 2, or Restricted (RS),[1] and formerly known as Confidential[2], clearance is granted to security and research personnel requiring access to anomalous entities and/or documentation. If an employee has a subordinate under them, then they likely have this clearance

Senior staff in either of the aforementioned departments typically hold this amount of clearance, as well as MTF operatives.

This clearance grants significant amounts of access, with a large amount of documentation and sensitive data being granted to this class of personnel. Keycards are granted, with a prominent yellow color being displayed across the card.

Level 4, or Secret (SC),[1] and formerly known as Top Secret[2], clearance is granted to staff that require knowledge of sensitive Foundation data or anomalous objects. These renowned individuals are typically high-ranking Foundation staff, such as site directors or security directors. Occasionally, lower ranking staff may have this level of access in accordance with the task at hand.

This clearance grants access to virtually anything that is within the SCP database. Keycards are granted, with an orange color being displayed across the card.

Level 5, or Top Secret (TS),[1] and formerly known as Thaumiel[2], clearance is only granted to staff directly working under the O5 Council and staff that are essential to Foundation operations, as well as Ethics Committee leaders. Level 5 access is very rarely given out, as it grants relatively unlimited access to anything within the Foundation's knowledge.

Due to the extreme security risk of keycards in regard to this level of secrecy, biometric ID and kill agents are used instead of the keycards to access highly sensitive data.

Level 6, or Cosmic Top Secret (CTS),[1] clearance is exclusively granted to the Administrator and the O5 Council. This clearance grants knowledge to anything that the Foundation has information on. Access to Level 6 is only permitted by the O5 Council.

Due to the extreme security risk of keycards in regard to this level of secrecy, biometric ID and kill agents are used instead of the keycards to access extremely sensitive data. This clearance is the rarest, only having been used for information that would either significantly damage Foundation operations or the human race if in the wrong hands.
Cain el Adam, known as SCP-073 by the SCP Foundation, is the son of Adam el Asem, the First King of Men. He was cursed by his father and banished from Audapaupadopolis. Cain wandered the lands of men for eons, eventually being discovered in New York City and captured by the SCP Foundation.

SCP-073 was involved in several cross-experimentation and interviews, including about the Children of the Night and his brothers.
Early life and exile

Cain el Adam was born to Adam el Asem and Lilith, the king and queen of the Children of the Sun, in the flying city of Audapaupadopolis. He watched as his father became corrupted by Apollyon's Crown, developing the vice of envy. Cain eventually confronted his father after Able's rebellion, asking him to see reason and give the crown to him.[4]
Exile from Audapaupadopolis

One day, the armies of the two brothers fought each other over the Crown in the fields of Eden below Audapaupadopolis, though Able offered peace to Cain only to be killed by his own brother with a stone. Cain immediately regretted his action, bringing his brother's body to his father, Adam, in repentance.

Adam became greatly angered by the betrayal of Cain, tearing his arms off, as they were used to kill his own brother. He also cursed his son with perfect memory so that he never forgot his great betrayal, and to eternally wander the earth, cursing the ground he walked.[4] At some point, Cain's limbs, spinal cord, and shoulder blades were replaced with beryllium bronze cybernetics.[1]

Their story was exaggerated and expanded throughout the eons, eventually becoming the Biblical story of Abel and Cain. He lived many lives across many lands during this time.[3]
Restless wandering

Cain eventually traveled to Nod, living there for a time, as Nod could not support crops due to its inhospitable environment. He soon discovered that he could not age, and his metal parts could not rust. Cain erected cities that possessed various Ways; his curse could not go through Way portals, enabling his people to tend to fields in fertile lands such as Sumer. Despite this, Cain still had nightmares of his brother Abel, which invigorated Cain to form a kingdom like his father Adam did.

This kingdom utilized lost technology that the Children of the Night left behind during their invasion of Old Europ, using it to destroy armies, monsters, and entire civilizations before Cain made their lands barren with his curse. However, he eventually realized that this only deepened his regret and sorrow, so he instead formed a family with an unknown family, siring a son named Enoch. Cain witnessed family expand, even seeing his grandchildren.

However, Cain was plagued by his insensate wanderings, so he chained himself in Enoch's Palace. There, he witnessed his kingdom crumble into ruin, the palace collapsing on top of him. Due to his immortality, he did not die, though he was in immense pain. Cain's descendants, the Lost Children, unearthed him to give Cain instructions. He then set off again, wandering once more.[5]
Re-emergence

In the late 1900s, Cain was detained by the New York Police Department in New York City, New York, after an altercation involving a gang. The gang attempted to attack him, but his deflecting property caused their attacks to reflect back to the gang, killing them. He was deemed a John Doe by the NYPD after they found no form of ID on him. The SCP Foundation took capture of him during routine inspections of John Does, assigning him the name of SCP-073 and containing him at Site-17. He was granted clearance to know much of the SCP Foundation's operations, serving as a living backup thanks to his immortality and photographic memory.[1]
Tests and interviews

SCP-073 confirmed his relation to SCP-076-2 on multiple occasions, though affirmed that it'd be best if he never met him again. He also provided information that beryllium bronze originated from the Middle East, though did not expand upon it.[1]

He was interviewed by Director Sophia Light regarding the Children of the Night, speaking to her of their history. 073 also spoke of Methuselah and the persistent anger of his brother Able. He requested information on Seth, but was denied access, though he only wished to apologize to him for what happened.[3]
Brother's Keeper

During an XK-class End-of-the-World Scenario, SCP-073 was tasked by Dr. Kain Pathos Crow with taking a briefcase to the surface and opening it. He refused, however, and simply wanted to wait and die. 073 and Crow briefly discussed Cain's proto-Foundation group eons ago, and how the SCP Foundation was much more successful than they were. He then relinquished his curse at Crow's urging, giving it to Crow so that he may form a new Foundation and so that Cain could finally die.[6]
Mementos

At some time in this reality, 073 became the head of Archival Storage, where personal amenities of former and deceased SCP Foundation personnel were held. Cain noted the three types of people that come to Archival Storage: rummagers that leave after finding nothing of value, looters that are turned away by 073, and people that come to remember. A woman once entered Archival Storage in order to gather supplies for her new position, speaking to Cain as he described his duty and Archival Storage's purpose, until she left with her needed items.[7]
Zero Timeline

When Incident Zero occurred, as multiple timelines converged, 073 replaced his brother, SCP-076-2, as the SCP in Team Able of MTF Omega-7 "Pandora's Box". Team Able, including Agent Squire, was massacred by an interdimensional blubbery creature before 073 could make it to them. He met the remaining members of Team Iris shortly after, explaining their deaths to the team. He then informed Agents Adrian Andrews and Beatrix Maddox that they were the only important members of Team Iris, instructing them to follow him in order to rectify this situation.[8]

After 073 opened a locked door, he instructed Andrews and Maddox to go first, as it was inevitable. As soon as they did so, however, Maddox was grabbed by Steel Doll, who snapped her neck. The robot then blew Andrews' leg off, before it was lured into punching 073. The doll then exploded as a result of 073's passive deflection ability, with a large piece barreling down into Andrews' brain. 073 then put the agents' bodies aside, stepping into The Bloom's chamber. Soon afterwards, 076-2 arrived, the two brothers meeting once again.[9]

073 stepped aside, allowing his brother to destroy The Bloom. This combined several timelines into one in a TK-class Causal Restructuring Event.[10]

Despite his toxicity to plant life, Cain is very affable, being courteous to most people he encounters. The SCP Foundation labeled his attitude as a "general will to please", showing his character.[1] Eons ago, he tried to peacefully convince his father, Adam el Asem, to relinquish his crown, but was forced to fight his closest brother. In anger, after Able offered peace, Cain killed him with a stone. He immediately regretted this decision, bringing his body to Adam only to be cursed and have his arms torn off; even in retrospect, 073 thought of his longevity as a blessing. Despite the long years since, he rarely ever changed his personality or outlook on life.[3]

When asked about the Children of the Night, 073 noticeably spoke in a more hushed tone, as well as when speaking of his home city. 073 showed clear regret for inflicting pain upon his brother, Seth, due to his exodus from Audapaupadopolis, hoping to apologize to him one day.[3] Despite his apparent fear of the Children of the Night, he used their abandoned technology during his time in Nod, though this was when Cain hated the gods and wished to fight their will.[5]

073 is kept in a two-room cell with a bathroom and living quarters at Site-17. The furniture inside is not made of or derived from plant life due to his anomalous property. 073 is allowed to wander the facility and even eat at the canteen. He has a tracking device embedded on his person, and is not allowed within contact of plant-based SCPs or the surface. Personnel are also not to use violence against 073 by any means, as well.[1]

    According to Kain Pathos Crow, SCP-073's creator, 073 is implicitly gay.[11]

Able was killed by his own brother, Cain, at some point, cementing Able's hatred for him. He served the Daevite Empire before his eventual containment in Mongolia, being freed in the 19th century CE. After a large manhunt, 076-2 was captured by the SCP Foundation and contained at Containment Area-25b. Two Mobile Task Forces were created to have Able as an operator, namely Omega-7 "Pandora's Box" and Alpha-9 "Last Hope", the latter ending in disaster.

After Adam brought Able back from death, hatred consumed the middle son of Adam. Asem lamented what his son Able had become, so he stored him in a stone tomb beneath the earth as an act of mercy.[2]
Daevite Empire

Eventually, he freed himself and fought for the Daevite Empire as a champion, killing numerous foes that challenged the Daevites. However, he was eventually entombed in the tomb again in Mongolia until the 19th century.
Freedom and capture

In the 19th century CE, several English archaeologists discovered Able and the tomb, taking the pair aboard their ship, █████ ███████. During the voyage back to England, Able awakened and slaughtered everyone aboard, before reentering his tomb. The ███████ Society discovered the ship, placing the tomb on display in their inner sanctum.

He remained in storage for years, numbering in double digits, before he escaped. A three-year manhunt took place, resulting in Able's death by ██████████ ███████. The tomb was recovered by agents of the SCP Foundation, forcing his containment. The tomb was dubbed SCP-076-1, and Able 076-2. Over the next three years, 076-2 escaped numerous times, causing extreme casualties among personnel at the facility he was contained at.[1] One of these casualties was Dr. Jack Bright, whose soul entered SCP-963.[4] Eventually, he was moved to Containment Area-25, a facility specially made to counter 076-2's escape attempts.[1]
MTF Omega-7
Recruitment

Once, when 076-2 attempted another escape, he found that Agent ███████ was not present. As a result, he allowed himself to be escorted and restrained. Dr. ██████ later interviewed him, where 076-2 showed clear distress at the death of Agent ███████, as 076-2 felt the agent deserved to die in combat against him. Dr. P█████ G████ later wrote a psychological profile of Able, using this interview as evidence to possibly control him to satisfy the Bowe Commission's wish to weaponize certain SCPs for "tactical purposes". When Dr. █████ █. █████ attempted to recruit Able, the Sumerian agreed.

Able, as part of the deal to join MTF-Omega-7 "Pandora's Box", was forced to wear an explosive collar that would instantly terminate him if he turned against the SCP Foundation during missions. He evaluated SCP-105 in a competition to activate several devices spaced a mile apart, in which 105 beat Able. As a result, Iris joined as part of Team Iris, with Team Able being the members that work directly with Able.[3]
SCP-447

As part of a cross-test with SCP-447, Able was given a distilled vodka-447-2 cocktail garnished with mint and lime. 076-2 stated that it was refreshing, though lost interest after being told of its reaction with dead bodies. Further interaction between 076-2 and 447-2 was forbidden, due to 076-2's tendency to create dead bodies and become one himself.[5]
Disbandment

After General George Bowe of the Bowe Commission tasked MTF-Omega-7 with fighting terrorists in the Middle East, 076-2 began showing signs of discontent with the missions offered, beginning to lash out at teammates. Eventually, 076-2 disabled his collar and massacred Team Able, causing Containment Area-25 to be detonated with on-site Alpha warheads. 076-1 survived the blast, with 076-2 recovering inside.

After these events, 076-2's psychological profile was revised to state 076-2 had "nothing but contempt for human beings and will kill them on sight."[3]
Universe 5000

SCP-076-2 came into possession of the Global Occult Coalition shortly after the SCP Foundation began its omnicide of humanity. Agent Samuel Ross of MTF-Omega-2 "Fire Keepers" stated that Professor Kain Pathos Crow's Europa would tear apart Ganzir, despite how many times 076-2 is sent after her.[6]
Zero Timeline

During Incident Zero, MTF-Omega-7 "Pandora's Box" was deployed to Yellowstone Mountain (specifically, SCP-2000) in order to secure the Bloom and activate it. Team Able was the first to arrive, though they suffered heavy casualties. When Team Iris leader Agent Adrian Andrews called, 076-2 answered, while his legs were blown apart. He informed Andrews that he was now in command, as the leader of Team Able, Agent Squire, is likely dead. 076-2 then died, beginning to regenerate in his tomb.[7]

Some time later, 076-2 reemerged from his regeneration, heading over to the Bloom's chamber.[8] He met his brother once more in the chamber itself,[9] though SCP-073 stepped aside to let 076-2 destroy the Bloom, causing a TK-class Causal Restructuring Event.[10]

Able was once a good person, attached to his family and loyal to his kingdom. But after his father took a star from another universe and transformed it in Apollyon's Crown, he was corrupted by it, becoming a power hungry killing machine. After his older brother Cain killed him with a stone, he became even worse than before.

Now, SCP-076-2 is cold and antisocial, motivated solely by the hatred for his brother, SCP-073, for killing him millennia ago. SCP-076-2 feels no love, attraction or interest in romantic subjects to any individual, because these concepts became alien to him after his death and resurrection. Despite this, he has seemingly made friendships, albeit loose ones, with SCP Foundation personnel such as Adrian Andrews, and fellow SCPs such as SCP-105 and SCP-507, though it quickly became apparent that these friendships were simply a means to an end when he betrayed them and destroyed MTF Omega-7 "Pandora's Box" and resumed his usual killing spree. In spite of this, he formed a bond with SCP-105 as he mentioned her after the Foundation dissolved in a future timeline, and reacted in anger when Li'l Lollipop mentioned her friend with the same first name as SCP-105.

According to Researcher Sebastian Hardin, the main reason why SCP-076-2 is a murderous psychopath is that he is actually a young mentally underdeveloped teenager who didn't pass much time in the modern outside world due to being locked inside SCP-076-1 most of the time. In Hardin's eyes, 076-2 is always angry because no one is able to truly kill him, comparing him to an "edgelord". Hardin believed that if 076-2 underwent psychotherapy sessions, then they could help him develop as a person and take away his bloodlust. Herman Fuller believed that 076-2, after seeing that he was unable to get his revenge on his brother due to the latter's properties, went mad and decided to kill everyone else instead. This means that there's still a possibility for SCP-076-2 to become a better person and that he still has good traits deep within his personality. In fact, despite his endless hatred and bloodlust, SCP-076-2 is capable of doing good acts, and has performed them in many instances.

    According to Kain Pathos Crow, SCP-076's creator, 076-2's sexuality is not heterosexual.[11]
