- <legomaster181> this server's going to be pretty harsh when it's out, isn't it
- <MrsBeefy> as in hard?
- <legomaster181> well, that too, but I mean as in there are no strict rules
- <MrsBeefy> ah
- <legomaster181> if someone comes and breaks all your stuff, they become a bandit and you have to clean up
- <MrsBeefy> yeah thats the idea
- <MrsBeefy> idk if it will work out
- <MrsBeefy> how we wnat it
- pcjames joined the game.
- <legomaster181> we can always tweak it
- <Leo_Verto> I don't really understand uioz
- <Leo_Verto> not sure how he wants to manage building
- <legomaster181> also, that's what the beta testing is for
- <Leo_Verto> I think towny would work pretty well
- <MrsBeefy> yeah that would
- <MrsBeefy> im not very familiar with it
- <MrsBeefy> but every time ive seen it i liked it
- <Leo_Verto> it uses the item economy and to store money for your town you need physical vaults which can be accessed by anyone
- pcjames left the game.
- <MrsBeefy> i mean more about building
- <legomaster181> I think he wants it to be more harsh
- <legomaster181> you know, when you join a town and setup camp, there's no guarantee of safety
- <MrsBeefy> i think most people will just go around griefing though
- <Leo_Verto> sheriffs
- <Leo_Verto> well, uioz only wants to allow "lore griefing"
- <legomaster181> I had a clever way to keep people from making ugly greifs
- <Leo_Verto> I want to keep it to a minimum though
- <legomaster181> you can only break things on someone's property, not place
- <MrsBeefy> i like that
- <Leo_Verto> mhm
- <legomaster181> we should also have some kind of punishment for people becoming bandits, other than having a bounty
- <Leo_Verto> what if you accidentally break something?
- <legomaster181> you'd get one chance before you become a bandit
- <Leo_Verto> sheriff revolvers need to be more powerful than normal ones
- <legomaster181> it'd send you a message and disable breaking for 2 seconds
- <MrsBeefy> there should be like a certain nbumber of breaks/steals/kills turn you into a bandit
- <legomaster181> also, I was thinking, maybe instead of not being able to break anything on someone else's plot
- <legomaster181> maybe you're not allowed to break anything that the owner's placed in the plot
- <legomaster181> you could mine under their house, without getting in trouble
- <legomaster181> although they might not be too happy with it
- <MrsBeefy> unless they have a floor
- <Leo_Verto> so nothing owner placed + depth claiming?
- <Leo_Verto> like when you claim an area it's only 10 blocks deep
- <Leo_Verto> that's the downside of towny
- <MrsBeefy> it would be cool to have claims that were a certain vertical size instead
- <legomaster181> I was thinking just the blocks that the person places would be protected
- <Leo_Verto> just whole chunks
- <MrsBeefy> yeha
- <MrsBeefy> yeah
- <legomaster181> only you could build there, and if anyone broke the stuff you build they'd become an outlaw
- <legomaster181> build on your chunk, that is
- <MrsBeefy> how about 3 breaks/2 steals/1kill =outlaw?
- <MrsBeefy> just so no accidents
- <MrsBeefy> and thered be a warning
- <legomaster181> or maybe we could have a command that would enable/disable breaking on other ppl's property
- <legomaster181> in case you don't have any intention to and you don't want to do it by accident
- <Leo_Verto> can't we just disable all of it?
- <Leo_Verto> I don't think outlaws in the wild west griefed apart from setting buildings on fire
- <MrsBeefy> well it more like breaking in
- <MrsBeefy> if someone has a wall around theyre home, you just cant get in
- <legomaster181> I would say you can only break doors, but then you could just not have any doors
- <Leo_Verto> maybe based on the block hardness?
- <legomaster181> yeah!
- <MrsBeefy> i like that
- <legomaster181> dirt walls would be worthless, but cobblestone walls would actually work
- <MrsBeefy> still easy to make impenetrable
- <Leo_Verto> one of the main problems is that the players are online at different times
- <Leo_Verto> so you can't just call the sheriff when you notice someone is griefing your house
- <Leo_Verto> but what about npc deputies?
- <MrsBeefy> yeah, like becoming a bandit sends a couple of police textured super skeletons your way
- <MrsBeefy> idk how else to do it without combat though
- <legomaster181> there also should be some kind of disadvantage of being a bandit, that will heavily discourage becom
- <legomaster181> becoming one
- <legomaster181> other than having a bounty on your head, because that can be easy
- <MrsBeefy> no going into towns maybe
- <legomaster181> that's too big, everything happens in towns
- <MrsBeefy> so dont be a bandit!
- <legomaster181> wait
- <legomaster181> grr, this is hard
- <MrsBeefy> when you die your still a bandit?
- <legomaster181> maybe that's part of it, bandits have a minimum bounty, like 50 gold nuggets
- <legomaster181> and if you die a bandit, you stay a bandit
- <MrsBeefy> how about you bounty is lowered each time you die
- <legomaster181> and there's a "quest" you do to wipe your slate clean
- <legomaster181> I don't know, then the noobs have a huge disadvantage
- <legomaster181> *advantage
- <MrsBeefy> but with each kill it goes back up
- <legomaster181> I'm so glad the console takes logs, this is a pretty good brainstorm
- <MrsBeefy> kill/steal/ect
- <MrsBeefy> yeah
