  1. <legomaster181> this server's going to be pretty harsh when it's out, isn't it
  2. <MrsBeefy> as in hard?
  3. <legomaster181> well, that too, but I mean as in there are no strict rules
  4. <MrsBeefy> ah
  5. <legomaster181> if someone comes and breaks all your stuff, they become a bandit and you have to clean up
  6. <MrsBeefy> yeah thats the idea
  7. <MrsBeefy> idk if it will work out
  8. <MrsBeefy> how we wnat it
  9. pcjames joined the game.
  10. <legomaster181> we can always tweak it
  11. <Leo_Verto> I don't really understand uioz
  12. <Leo_Verto> not sure how he wants to manage building
  13. <legomaster181> also, that's what the beta testing is for
  14. <Leo_Verto> I think towny would work pretty well
  15. <MrsBeefy> yeah that would
  16. <MrsBeefy> im not very familiar with it
  17. <MrsBeefy> but every time ive seen it i liked it
  18. <Leo_Verto> it uses the item economy and to store money for your town you need physical vaults which can be accessed by anyone
  19. pcjames left the game.
  20. <MrsBeefy> i mean more about building
  21. <legomaster181> I think he wants it to be more harsh
  22. <legomaster181> you know, when you join a town and setup camp, there's no guarantee of safety
  23. <MrsBeefy> i think most people will just go around griefing though
  24. <Leo_Verto> sheriffs
  25. <Leo_Verto> well, uioz only wants to allow "lore griefing"
  26. <legomaster181> I had a clever way to keep people from making ugly greifs
  27. <Leo_Verto> I want to keep it to a minimum though
  28. <legomaster181> you can only break things on someone's property, not place
  29. <MrsBeefy> i like that
  30. <Leo_Verto> mhm
  31. <legomaster181> we should also have some kind of punishment for people becoming bandits, other than having a bounty
  32. <Leo_Verto> what if you accidentally break something?
  33. <legomaster181> you'd get one chance before you become a bandit
  34. <Leo_Verto> sheriff revolvers need to be more powerful than normal ones
  35. <legomaster181> it'd send you a message and disable breaking for 2 seconds
  36. <MrsBeefy> there should be like a certain nbumber of breaks/steals/kills turn you into a bandit
  37. <legomaster181> also, I was thinking, maybe instead of not being able to break anything on someone else's plot
  38. <legomaster181> maybe you're not allowed to break anything that the owner's placed in the plot
  39. <legomaster181> you could mine under their house, without getting in trouble
  40. <legomaster181> although they might not be too happy with it
  41. <MrsBeefy> unless they have a floor
  42. <Leo_Verto> so nothing owner placed + depth claiming?
  43. <Leo_Verto> like when you claim an area it's only 10 blocks deep
  44. <Leo_Verto> that's the downside of towny
  45. <MrsBeefy> it would be cool to have claims that were a certain vertical size instead
  46. <legomaster181> I was thinking just the blocks that the person places would be protected
  47. <Leo_Verto> just whole chunks
  48. <MrsBeefy> yeha
  49. <MrsBeefy> yeah
  50. <legomaster181> only you could build there, and if anyone broke the stuff you build they'd become an outlaw
  51. <legomaster181> build on your chunk, that is
  52. <MrsBeefy> how about 3 breaks/2 steals/1kill =outlaw?
  53. <MrsBeefy> just so no accidents
  54. <MrsBeefy> and thered be a warning
  55. <legomaster181> or maybe we could have a command that would enable/disable breaking on other ppl's property
  56. <legomaster181> in case you don't have any intention to and you don't want to do it by accident
  57. <Leo_Verto> can't we just disable all of it?
  58. <Leo_Verto> I don't think outlaws in the wild west griefed apart from setting buildings on fire
  59. <MrsBeefy> well it more like breaking in
  60. <MrsBeefy> if someone has a wall around theyre home, you just cant get in
  61. <legomaster181> I would say you can only break doors, but then you could just not have any doors
  62. <Leo_Verto> maybe based on the block hardness?
  63. <legomaster181> yeah!
  64. <MrsBeefy> i like that
  65. <legomaster181> dirt walls would be worthless, but cobblestone walls would actually work
  66. <MrsBeefy> still easy to make impenetrable
  67. <Leo_Verto> one of the main problems is that the players are online at different times
  68. <Leo_Verto> so you can't just call the sheriff when you notice someone is griefing your house
  69. <Leo_Verto> but what about npc deputies?
  70. <MrsBeefy> yeah, like becoming a bandit sends a couple of police textured super skeletons your way
  71. <MrsBeefy> idk how else to do it without combat though
  72. <legomaster181> there also should be some kind of disadvantage of being a bandit, that will heavily discourage becom
  73. <legomaster181> becoming one
  74. <legomaster181> other than having a bounty on your head, because that can be easy
  75. <MrsBeefy> no going into towns maybe
  76. <legomaster181> that's too big, everything happens in towns
  77. <MrsBeefy> so dont be a bandit!
  78. <legomaster181> wait
  79. <legomaster181> grr, this is hard
  80. <MrsBeefy> when you die your still a bandit?
  81. <legomaster181> maybe that's part of it, bandits have a minimum bounty, like 50 gold nuggets
  82. <legomaster181> and if you die a bandit, you stay a bandit
  83. <MrsBeefy> how about you bounty is lowered each time you die
  84. <legomaster181> and there's a "quest" you do to wipe your slate clean
  85. <legomaster181> I don't know, then the noobs have a huge disadvantage
  86. <legomaster181> *advantage
  87. <MrsBeefy> but with each kill it goes back up
  88. <legomaster181> I'm so glad the console takes logs, this is a pretty good brainstorm
  89. <MrsBeefy> kill/steal/ect
  90. <MrsBeefy> yeah
