Paying my respects to 1UP dot com

This pastebin is to pay my respects to the groundbreaking video game website 1UP dot com:

10 years ago on this day, the death knell sounded for the gaming site 1UP, which was the first website where I had my sense of online identity
there really was no other website like it
it was one of the first to do podcasts with the popularity they had
there was the blogging element that was popular
its integration with the gaming magazines in print
and then the vast majority of the staff got laid off
and a lot of things about the site that people loved got axed

and I hung out on that site from like 2004 to 2009
I took on the name WanderingMind near the end of my time there
and online gaming media has a lot to thank for this website
you could say it was a precursor to places like Giant Bomb
I still talk to a handful of people from formerly 1UP on Twitter and other places, over 10 years later
I wanted to pay my respects here
