- Obligatory, this happened a long while ago when I was around 15. My grandparents used to host ye olde easter egg hunt, as well as dying the eggs in that smelly vinegar dye mix stuff. They had a huge backyard, but some of the eggs were hidden in the house. One of these eggs must have slipped by everyone's radar. It was MY egg, too, and I remember the tasteless gimpy dye job I did on it, though the adults had hidden it. By some miracle of physics I'm still not clear on, it managed to lay hidden all that time without anyone being the wiser for it. No rotten egg stench, no nothing. It was quietly tucked away in a corner. Well, one day when we paid a family visit to our grandparents I was digging around and I managed to find it, and I was shocked. How in the seven hells had a hardboiled dyed Easter egg survived the tides of time with nary a hint of sulfuric ass stench? I reached down for it, and it was surprisingly light. Its time out of sight and mind had dessicated it without ever collapsing it. So of course I told my sister and cousins of my discovery, and we went outside in the front yard. Lacking any finer tools or ideas, I threw the ancient relic down on the sidewalk. It cracked sure enough, and a dull yellowish powder billowed out, along with vague rotten egg stench. I'm still not entirely sure HOW this happened so perfectly, but conditions must have been ideal.
- Tldr; I found an easter egg I'd dyed as a kid that had remained hidden for 10 years and it had turned into egg jerky
