  1. Name: Yamaharu, "The Blood-Stained Ape of The Mountain," "That Monkey What Kidnapped, Raped, And Ate The Farmhand's Wife"
  2.
  3. Age: 54
  4.
  5. Race: Satori
  6.
  7. Appearance: https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/564x/de/8f/6d/de8f6dfbfd9b80b33b8710d97ae40312.jpg Identical in almost every way to the Japanese Macaque, his eyes now glow with inhuman intelligence. He may or may not be somewhere in this crowd shot:

  9.
  10. Personality: A creature which reads the minds around him is subject to the truth of humanity without filters. He sees those fleeting urges across your mind- "that cliff looks (jump) enormous." "I think I could steal that and get away with it." "I bet that kid's gonna be hot in a few years." He sees your thoughts, and they disgust him. He sees through every attempt at a surprise gift or get-together for him. Life is devoid of pleasant surprises, the veneer of everyday civility, or even human companionship. In short, he's miserable, and only wishes that people could understand why he's a lethargic monkey that likes hot springs so much. Since they can't, he's content to ruin every surprise and plan he can.
  11.
  12. History: Living in the cold mountains of Japan, Satori live among troops of mundane monkeys as protectors and guardians. One day, a bunch of soldiers came through the pass below the troop's hot spring, hooting, hollering, and causing an avalanche that filled their hot spring with snow, lowering the temperature of the water for several hours and inconveniencing the whole troop. As such, Yamaharu descended on the soldiers when they made camp and used his mind-reading to find the higher-ups that were actually respected by the men and tore out their throats with his teeth while they slept. For the grievous sin of fucking with a hot spring, Yamaharu has dedicated himself to raping, killing, and eating (when he feels generous, in that order) the soldiers Anjou's government sends into the mountains.
  13.
  14. Skills: As a sentient monkey, Yamaharu's throwing arm is incredible. Even as regular monkeys, Japanese Macaques make and throw snowballs for amusement, and with the telepathic powers of a satori, he is able to predict his targets perfectly- even if they think suddenly changing their movements will work, it only results in a rock aiming for their head going into their eye.
  15.
  16. Powers: Like any Satori, he can read the minds of anyone and speak their thoughts as fast as they come. This makes it impossible to sneak up on, surprise, or lie to him.
  17.
  18. Equipment: A few bars of soap, herbs and flowers, and a towel in case he finds a hot spring.
  19.
  20. ---
  21. Name: Betobeto, "Bishagatsuku"
  22.
  23. Age: 37
  24.
  25. Race: Living sound
  26.
  27. Appearance: A formless specter, Betobeto is named for the sound of his invisible wooden sandals.
  28.
  29. Personality: What makes your character tick? Write at least a paragraph describing the way your character acts.
  30.
  31. History: People who walk the streets alone at night sometimes encounter this harmless but nonetheless disturbing yokai. Betobeto has a horrible sense of direction, so he synchronizes his pace with walkers and follows them as long as it can, getting closer and closer with each step in hopes of getting directions. For the "victims," this can be quite traumatic. The haunting sound of footsteps follows them wherever they go, but every time they turn around to see what is following them, they find nothing. Such is the tale of Betobeto, an invisible vagrant seeking naught but companionship in a desolate, lonely world.
  32.
  33. Anyway, one time, Anjou's sedan chair cut him off in traffic. He wants an apology.
  34.
  35. Skills: While he isn't the best at navigation, decades as a vagrant have given him incredible stamina. He can travel at a dead sprint for hours, or walk for days without sleep.
  36.
  37. Powers: Formless and immaterial, Betobeto is invisible and intangible. While he cannot interact with physical objects, they can't interact with him either. As he can't be seen, the only way to track him is by following the sound of his sandals.
  38.
  39. Equipment: his invisible, intangible sandals and hobo's bindle which he assures you are completely real.
