So next Friday I am seeing Franz Ferdinand for the third time. It's been 16ish years since their catalogue roped me in properly, and were formative in making me the avid music follower that I still am to this day, I wouldn't be on this site if not for them etc etc. It would almost be the fourth time but when they came here for the Future Music Festival, they organised a side show that was 18+ only, and despite trying to request an exemption I was sadly unsuccessful. Luckily that is a thing of the very ancient past though because I was lucky enough to catch a drumstick at their Forum show in 2013, and then at Festival Hall in 2018 they toured alongside MGMT and afterwards I was able to meet the members of FF. I am very excited for Friday, the band's current lineup has only two original members but they still continue to churn out interesting stuff. This year's album was an improvement on the previous one for sure. With anticipation building and also being bored this past week, I thought it would be a fun idea to create a setlist that I would like to see for the gig, then comparing it to a recent setlist of theirs after the fact and then ultimately the set I will eventually see. Taking into account a wider spread of tracks across their albums rather than just my favourite batch of songs overall, I was only able to limit it to 22 songs:

Jacqueline
Always Ascending
Audacious
Walk Away
This Fire
Do You Want To
Right Action
Live Alone
Take Me Out
Matinee
Black Eyelashes
Evil Eye
Ulysses
Come on Home
The Fallen
Michael
Bullet
All My Friends
This Boy
No You Girls

Lucid Dreams
Darts of Pleasure

Without looking at setlist.fm I am predicting that they'd play 13 of those 22... and now after looking, from a recent setlist of theirs it looks like it will be more around 11 though, noting that they do play around with their setlists quite frequently which is also great.

shall be good :-)
