- T'Soal is a deaths-head hawkmoth, a subset of the greater Mothfolk race which has become infamous for its zealous defense of its home forests against industrious dwarven miners. The deaths-heads bear a skull-like patch of fluff on their thoraxes, an old brand made upon their species for long-passed dealings with necromancers and the undead.
- T'Soal himself is a Sword-Mage, part of an order of wizards which use the weapons of war as their arcane focuses. Where other wizards and mages use wands or staffs, the Sword-Mages of the Glummful Forest use their curved blades or lethal long-muskets to channel and focus their magic to lethal effect. It is custom for the Glummful sword-mages to set out in pilgrimage at least once in their lives to search the world for new knowledge and adventure. Those who survive come back wise of the world and steeped in fresh knowledge to teach the next generation. T'Soal is on one such pilgrimage; and travels with his swords and short-musket he has seen to the end of raiders and hooligans alike. Though now he seeks more impressive quests on which to gain knowledge for his forest home.
