Weltraummarine Bismarck

The face of Commander Lindemann was lit up by thousands of lights as he stared out of the drydock control tower’s massive window. The elevator in the centre of the room dinged and slid open with a soft hiss. Lindemann turned to the unexpected noise. A woman stepped into the room, the Executive Officer Oels was on a patrol.
“good evening Admiral” said Oels “I didn’t expect you to still be here this late”
Lindemann smiled as he turned back to the window.
“how can I sleep while this wonderful thing is happening?” he said
Oels looked out the window as well.
“it’s beautiful” She sighed
Outside, suspended in the zero gravity of space, the mighty battleship Bismark was undergoing upgrades. Her propellers were being replaced with ion thrusters, her hull was made airtight and space worthy. Extra turrets were being fit to the underside of the hull. Thousands of little lights from welders flickered across the massive ship like stars. A large mechanical arm lowered a new main turret into its position at the front of the ship.
The Bismarck had been passed down from father to son in the Lindemann family for generations and most of the crew and their families ended up serving aboard as well. Most of the current crew had a long family history of service aboard Bismarck. There were a few family lines that were more prominent than others aboard the ship. There were the Lindemanns, the Captains of the vessel, whose steel wills had seen the Bismarck through even the roughest seas and the hardest battles, like the siege of Britain. Despite their prowess in battle, the family was well known for their economic failures, including the purchase of Bismarck in 1950 for 195 million Reichsmarks. Between interest of the debt and the inflation of the currency, the debt was still far from paid, even as Captain Lindemann stood watching his precious ship be upgraded (another costly operation).
