  1. As we all know, many moves cannot be taught to Pokemon in X and Y since no move tutors exist. However, there are some Pokemon that learn old move tutor moves via breeding. For some of them, the parent had to have come from an older game that had move tutors. The following Pokemon and moves need Pokebank and a tutor to get. Most of these can be bred by using a male of the same species, which was caught in a previous Pokemon game and learned the move in either Platinum, Heart Gold, Soul Silver, Black 2, or White 2.
  2.
  3. This list is not exhaustive and is still a work in progress. Since I can't seem to find a list on the internet of these I have decided to make my own. This issue is temporary at best since many of these moves will return as move tutors in the upcoming Gen 3 remakes. Note that for Pokemon in the field egg group, you can use Smeargle to breed any move onto them.
  4.
  5. Info on which moves are Egg moves come from the Serebii website pokedex.

  8.
  9. Shroomish: Drain Punch
  10. Scyther: Defog (requires Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum, AND Heartgold or Soulsilver)
  11. Skarmory: Stealth Rock
  12. Lileep: Stealth Rock
  13. Spiritomb: Foul Play
  14. Cofagrigus: Ally Switch (Breed with male Ralts family that was taught using TM51)
  15. Archeops: Ally Switch (Breed with male Natu family that was taught using Gen V's TM51)
  16. Pawniard: Stealth Rock
  17. Escavalier: Drill Run (must teach Drill Run to a male Beedrill in Black 2 or White 2)
  18. Hydreigon: Earth Power
  19. Slugma: Heat Wave
  20. Litwick: Heat Wave
  21. Vanillite: Water Pulse (Teach a male Snorunt or Glalie TM03 Water Pulse in gen 4 and breed with vanillite)

  27. Special Cases:
  28. Scyther: Defog
  29.
  30. To teach your Scyther Defog, play a Generation IV Pokemon game, catch a male Bug-type pokemon capable of learning Defog, or alternatively, a Scyther of either gender. The HM05 Defog only exists in Diamond, Pearl, or Platinum, so you will need to trade it to one of those games to teach it Defog. Once it knows Defog, trade it to Heart Gold or Soul Silver. Now you can freely transfer this Pokemon to any Generation V game since Defog is not a hidden machine in Heart Gold or Soul Silver. Now, transfer the Pokemon to X or Y, and breed it with a female Scyther. If you taught Defog to a Scyther, simply breed it with Ditto or another Scyther.
  31.
  32. Dratini: Extreme Speed
  33.
  34. If you have Heart Gold or Soul Silver, you can get a special Dratini from the Dragon's Den. After you answer the elder's questions correctly (tell him that you think that Pokemon are friends and not tools, and things like that) leave and come back. He will give you a Dratini. This Dratini knows the move Extreme Speed. Transfer it to gen 5 and then to gen 6, then breed it with a ditto. You will get Dratini eggs, which will hatch knowing Extreme Speed.
  35.
  36. Munchlax: Self Destruct
  37.
  38. This move can only be bred onto Munchlax using a Snorlax. In Pokemon XD for the Gamecube, there is a move tutor that teaches several moves. Most of them can be also found in the Game Boy Advance games, except for a few. One of these is Self Destruct. You can teach this move to a Snorlax (which you can get from one of the bosses late in the game.) Teach Snorlax the move, and trade it to one of your Gameboy Advance pokemon games. Then send it to Gen 4, then 5, then 6. Give the Snorlax a Full Incense and breed it with Ditto in the daycare. The Munchlax eggs will hatch knowing Self Destruct. There's also another way that involves Heart Gold/Soul Silver and the Pokewalker. If you managed to get the event Pokewalker course "Winner's Path," one of the Pokemon that can be found is a Munchlax. This Munchlax knows Self Destruct. Catch it, and transfer it to your 3DS game.
