- Q: What is the best known time for this game/category?
- A: The best known time for Any% is 2:03:15 by Keizaron.
- Q: Why Sapphire over Ruby?
- A: Carvanha/Sharpedo from Team Aqua are just as easy to deal with as Numel/Camerupt from Team Magma, in addition Kyogre is WAY better than Groudon for a myriad of reasons.
- Q: Why Mudkip?
- A: Mudkip is faster.
- Q: Does this game have RNG manipulation or are you just praying for good stats/luck?
- A: Mudkip's stats, an encounter/successful capture of a wild Wingull, and the stats/successful capture of Kyogre are all manipulated. This game runs at 60fps and the frame certain things happen determines their outcome, and EonTimer is used to help make these frame perfect inputs more consistent.
- Q: What is EonTimer?
- A: EonTimer is a secondary timer used by many Pokémon speedruns in order to help runners hit certain frames for RNG manipulation purposes. If you hear a metronome ticking sound at points, that is the source of it.
- Q: Why not just get the Master Ball in the Aqua/Magma Hideout to guarantee the Kyogre capture?
- A: The "YOLO Ball" on Kyogre requires buying a Net Ball during the Mossdeep City shopping trip (which you do regardless) and hitting a 3 frame window during the fight in order for the catch to be successful. The Master Ball takes roughly 41 seconds to go out of your way for and Kyogre takes roughly 11 seconds to manipulate, which results in the "YOLO Ball" saving around 30 seconds over the alternative.
- Q: Are you playing on emulator?
- A: No, I am playing on a GameCube with GameBoy Player attachment with an official Pokémon Sapphire cartridge.
