- >FAQ - Questions and Answers
- Q: What's your name?
- A: Not Important. Jokes aside, I go by 'rhobiusvoid' on the internet. Just your average one-eyed man with an appreciation for old games and an addiction to adrenaline.
- Q: So, Frontier is playable, but it's an MMO, can I play it solo?
- A: The guide is dedicated for setting up for solo play. If you want to play with other people, look up a list of available private servers for Frontier. Popular ones includes Rain (Worldwide), and Hunsterverse (US/EU).
- Q: Is it hard to set up?
- A: Follow the instructions carefully, and you shouldn't have any problems. Google is your friend. Most Discord servers for Frontier also provide plenty of information and tech support. This pastebin guide assumes you can read.
- Q: Is the game good?
- A: Only one way to find out.
- Q: Do you have an official server?
- A: No, and I won't be affiliated with any.

- [A1 - Client and Server Download]
- The links for these files are added in seperate packages for ease of convenience.
- Instructions on how to setup both the client and the server are included in these downloads for redundancy.

- Game File Drive: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1F_xg7qaFmG_L7AJ16vzYBG8pwlpCYSFN?usp=sharing
- (These files are updated as of the 23rd of May, 2023 to Erupe v9.2 and Client Translation v4.1)
- ['Too many users have viewed or downloaded this file']
- Google Drive will sometimes give you an error about a quota due to corporate nonsense. However, there is a way around this.
- Image Guide: https://files.catbox.moe/n4ihjd.png
- If this somehow doesn't work, ask around or try to find a mirror of this download link. You should be able to find one rather effortlessly. My link will always be around 'till I'm dead.
- // Download Link //
- Many guides and Discord servers will likely link here, or have very similar guides.
- Make sure the download links you come across are legit, or link to my Community Edition folder.
- I am not affiliated with any servers (such as Rain, PewPewDojo, or Hunsterverse) and will keep it that way.
- Spread the pastebin link around, or spread the Drive folder link around. Whichever works.
- [A2 - Client and Server Updates]
- This is only here if you want to manually update yourself, in order to save on time in downloading.
- This Drive folder will occasionally update with new client/server updates whenever they release in the future.
- Update Drive: https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/folders/1ejhsua309mBXbVeCL8oAZNE2NdbUPEpe
- The latest client and server files for Erupe will also be updated to include these, usually right as they release.
- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
- [B1 - Server Setup Guide] - Ignore this if you're playing on a public server.
- 1. Install PostgreSQL ( https://www.postgresql.org/download/ ). Stack Builder is not required. Make sure to remember any passwords you put in during the setup process, and during the database process!
- 2. Download Erupe's server files from the Drive folder or the GitHub repo ( https://tinyurl.com/MHF-ErupeServer ) as well as the SCHEMA.sql file. Extract the .zip anywhere. Quest files are not included in the GitHub version.
- 3. Launch pgAdmin again (if you closed it). In the Browser pane, expand "Servers > PostgreSQL xx > Databases" then right-click on "Databases" and click "Create > Database..."
- 4. Name the new database "erupe" (must be lowercase, no quotes) then click Save. Then right-click "erupe" in the Browser pane and click "Restore..." After which, click the folder icon next to "Filename" and choose the SCHEMA.sql file that you downloaded then click 'Restore.'
- 5. In the Erupe server folder, is a folder named "bundled-schema" which contains essential files to fill up shops inside of the game. Open the 'Query Tool' by right-clicking on the "erupe" database, and drag these files into it, then run them by pressing the F5 key. Rinse and repeat with the rest of the .sql files, clearing out everything in the panel between files.
- 6. Open the "config.json" in any text editor and scroll down to the "Database" section. Put your Postgres password there.
- 7. You should be able to run erupe-ce.exe without any problems, and it will open a CMD window with the server running and displaying its status. If it opens for a split second, refer to section [C2.2 - Common Error Fixes].
- - Extra step if you've downloaded the Drive version or found quest files somewhere else -
- 8. Extract 'Quests.7z' in the Erupe folder by right-clking on it, under 7-Zip or WinRar, and choose 'Extract Here.' Confirm that you've extracted it correctly by checking if it's 'bin > quests.' If it's 'bin > bin > quests' you've done it wrong. This will avoid an error down the line. Erupe does not need to be restarted for this.
- [B2 - Client Setup Guide]
- 1. Download the client as provided by the Drive folder, or the nyaa.si torrent.
- 2. Extract them somewhere that isn't the 'Program Files' folders.
- 3. Run mhf.exe. If you can't find it, your anti-virus gobbled it right up. View the Quarantine and 'make an exception' for mhf.exe.
- - If you've set up your own server -
- 4A. Select 'Localhost' and enter in a username and password. This will create a new account.
- 5A. Make a character and start playing. That's it.
- - If you're going to play on a public server -
- 4B. Select any public server you wish to join.
- 5B. Join their Discord through the link the launcher gives you.
- 6B. Follow their instructions on how to register an account.
- 7B. Make a character and start playing. That's it.
- If you want to avoid eldritch errors and general issues, download Locale Emulator ( https://tinyurl.com/MHF-LocaleEmu ) and use it with MHF for the best experience. The default of 'Osaka, Japan' is perfect.
- If you've gotten this far without any errors, congrats. You're one of a lucky few. Welcome to Mezeporta, Hunter.

- [C1 - Assorted Info/Tools]
- [C1.1 - Walkthrough/Guide/Info]
- Guide website here.
- This website might be missing some information due to some tabs currently being empty, or have outdated information as of Erupe v9.2 (v9.3 soon), but it can be used as a source of information, even with the fact that it's not written for the JP version of the game. Use it whenever you're stuck, or looking for some information. Basics and Beginnings has a lot of info about the entirety of Hunter Rank.
- [C1.2 - Items, Armors and Weapons]
- Ferias is for finding material sources, what you can carve and where you gather, and various other things like weapo/armor upgrade trees. * The item search is case-sensitive! *

- Download, extract the folder, and double-click damagecalc.html.
- [C1.4 - Armor Sets Searcher]
- Frontier makes emphasis on having a good set in the endgame. This is practically necessary for any serious content such as Road, Musou, or GR800 Zeniths.
- Pre-configured to gen GR800 Zenith sets using ZP parts, PZ cuffs and Hiden cuffs+decos.

- [C2.2 - Common Error Fixes]
- Game crashes upon logging in? Rendering issues? Unknown black magic errors you've never seen?
- This pastebin here should have you covered for all of that and then some: https://pastebin.com/4X0K5ANH
- [C2.3 - Savedata Manager] - SERVER ADMINS ONLY!
- Need to backup your characters? Found a save on the internet? Did your character somehow corrupt?
- You should use this savedata manager for that: https://tinyurl.com/MHF-SaveManager
