  1. alright
  2. so here's the reason Demogorgon is hard:
  3. he has 290 base HP, so 680 on LoB
  4. which is 90 (so 180) more than Abazigal's second phase
  5. which is the only phase that really matters
  6. furthermore he regenerates 36 HP every round
  7. this fight lasted around 7-9 rounds (didn't count, feel free to)
  8. so that's like another 290 HP
  9. as the fight starts he spawns two units that are basically like
  10. strong, endgame level, normal enemies
  11. not quite miniboss level
  12. those enemies are like
  13. some of the most tanky enemies in the game
  14. you'll see in the video
  15. furthermore he uses special gazes
  16. one gaze confuses you
  17. one does hold person
  18. one deafens you
  19. he attacks you both with a magical weapon - type attack
  20. and a nonmagical weapon - type attack
  21. the magical weapon type attack is +5
  22. so absolute immunity doens't negate it
  23. only protection from magical weapons does
  24. which will lead you vulnerable to the normal attacks
  25. he also has 90% magic, 50% cold, 100% electric, and 100% fire resistance
  26. as well as 10% against physical damage
  27. on top of this, he casts Stoneskin once every round
  28. he's level 25
  29. which means that the next 12 (or 13? idk if it rounds up or down) hits against him will be negated
  30. with my highest attacks-per-turn setup I only get 9 attacks per round
  31. alright so after all this
  32. here's why it's actually easy:
  33. none of the stuff I listed above, except for the deafening, is actually a big problem
  34. the enemies he spawns you can just ignore
  35. they attack you with magical weapons
  36. and you have protection from magical weapons up the whole time anyway
  37. you can counteract the confusion gaze with Immunity from Enchantment
  38. you can counteract hold person by having the Flail of the Ages +5 equipped
  39. which gives you free action, part of which means you can't be held
  40. sure he attacks you both magically and nonmagically
  41. but that's why you have your own stoneskin
  42. block the magical attacks with prot from magic weapons, and the physical ones with stoneskin
  43. he's got great resistences, so attack him physically
  44. the Stoneskin part is interesting
  45. there's an item called a Wand of Spellstriking
  46. when used it casts Breach (removes specific protections buffs like Protection from Fire, etc, as well as combat protections, such as Stoneskin) and Pierce Shield (removes protections against spells and reduces magic resistance)
  47. now there's two problems with using the Wand of Spellstriking against him
  48. 1) if you use one, that'll be your action for the round
  49. so you won't be casting Stoneskin or Protection from Magical Weapons
  50. which you want to be trying to cast basically every round
  51. because of the 50% spellcasting failure
  52. 2) they're p rare, you can only get so many of them per playthrough
  53. both problems have the same solution
  54. there's a spell called Simulacrum
  55. which makes a copy of yourself at 60% of your level, and 60% of your hitpoints
  56. and none of the buffs you have on currently
  57. but it also gets your equipped items
  58. so you can just equip a wand of spellstriking
  59. (I have 11 charges worth of it)
  60. make a Simulacrum
  61. and have the Simulacrum use the wand every time he casts Stoneskin
  62. so how do you prevent the enemies from killing the Simulacrum?
  63. you don't
  64. they don't even go for it
  65. probably because it's a lower level, so it's lower threat
  66. idk
  67. and with that, all you need to do is beat him up
  68. the Black Blade of Disaster (9th level spell that gives you a magical weapon for 18 rounds) is hella fucking strong
  69. add a Planetar to the mix
  70. who's really strong offensively and basically can't die
  71. plus Fire Shield (Blue)
  72. which causes ~5 points of cold damage every time he attacks you
  73. (which is a lot, he attacks you like 8 times a round or something)
  74. and you just beat him down
  75. :)
