  1. Best Ending Requirements for Handheld Sonic Games
  2.
  3. Sonic Advance 1:
  4.
  5. Unlocking Moon Zone requires:
  6. -Beating the game with all four characters
  7. -Collecting the Chaos Emeralds (shared among all four characters)
  8. -After the above requirements are met, beat X-Zone with Sonic. Beating the game with Sonic last will not avoid repeating X-Zone with him.
  9.
  10. Getting a Chaos Emerald requires finding its corresponding hidden spring (each zone has one, Ice Mountain has two), then clearing the special stage. Chaos Emeralds are shared globally in this game, so any character can get any emerald.
  11.
  12. Currently, Sonic, Knuckles, and Amy each get one emerald (Secret Base, Casino Paradise, Ice Mountain 2 respectively). Tails gets the remaining four, since most special springs are in higher areas such that flying is the fastest and/or most reliable way of getting them.
  13.
  14.
  15. Sonic Advance 2:
  16.
  17. Unlocking True Area 53 requires:
  18. -Beating the game with Sonic, Cream, Tails, and Knuckles (not Amy)
  19. -Collecting the Chaos Emeralds with Sonic.
  20. -Seeing the "Get the chaos emeralds" cutscene post-credits
  21. -After the above requirements are met, True Area 53 unlocks itself on the level map for Sonic.
  22.
  23. Getting a Chaos Emerald requires clearing either act of the corresponding zone while collecting all 7 SP rings in one go, then clearing the special stage. Chaos Emeralds are NOT shared globally in this game.
  24.
  25. Currently, I get the chaos emerald for act 2 of every zone, with the exception of Leaf Forest 1.
  26.
  27.
  28. Sonic Advance 3:
  29.
  30. Unlocking Nonaggression requires:
  31. -Beating the game
  32. -Unlocking all characters (Knux, Amy, Cream)
  33. -Collecting the Chaos Emeralds
  34. -Seeing the "Get the chaos emeralds" cutscene post-credits
  35. -After the above requirements are met, beat Altar Emerald with Sonic as the lead.
  36.
  37. Getting a Chaos Emerald requires finding all 10 chao in the corresponding zone's acts and hub, getting a special key (there are several in every act), then clearing the special stage.
  38.
  39.
  40. Sonic Rush:
  41.
  42. Unlocking Extra Zone requires:
  43. -Beating both Sonic and Blaze stories
  44. -Having all the chaos and sol emeralds
  45. -After the above requirements are met, Extra Zone is unlocked in Story Select.
  46.
  47. Chaos Emeralds: In Sonic's Story, each Chaos Emerald requires clearing the Special Stage for the corresponding zone. Each of the two acts have three "boost spinners". By grabbing one and using one full boost meter, you enter the Special Stage. You can repeat Special Stages from the same spinner as many times as you want, assuming you have a method of getting the necessary boost to activate it again. Every zone has an act with a boost spinner that's conveniently on the speedrun route, so there aren't any ugly detours in the route.
  48.
  49. Sol Emeralds: In Blaze's Story, each Sol Emerald is collected for each defeated boss, due to story reasons. As such, they're all collected by just clearing Blaze's Story.
  50.
  51.
  52. Sonic Rush Adventure:
  53.
  54. Unlocking Deep Core requires:
  55. -Collecting all the chaos emeralds and sol emeralds, which is not possible until postgame after credits.
  56.
  57. Chaos Emeralds: There are 7 locations on the map where you can encounter Johnny and race him. Beat him to get the corresponding chaos emerald. Note that Johnny 5-7 are basically impossible without upgrading the Wave Cyclone (postgame), so those are left by then. Also, one Johnny location is impossible to access without beating Hidden Island 16 and activating it as a docking point.
  58.
  59. Sol Emeralds: Each Sol Emerald is collected by beating Blaze missions that Gardon (NPC by Ocean Tornado) gives you (4, 7, 10, 13, 17, 86, 88). Four of these are unlocked naturally by progressing through the main game. The other three are unlocked by clearing Hidden Islands 6, 8, and 12.
