17 years ago, immortals first appeared on the battlefields of Africa. Later, rare, unknown new immortal lifeforms began appearing among humans, and they became known as &quot;Ajin&quot; (demi-humans). Just before summer vacation, a Japanese high school student is instantly killed in a traffic accident on his way home from school. However, he is revived, and a price is placed on his head. Thus begins a boy&#39;s life on the run from all of humankind.
A freak accident reveals to young Kei Nagai that he is more than your average teenager. After being ran over by a truck, Kei is brought back to life by a mysterious substance known as Invisible Black Matter. He is now an &quot;Ajin&quot;, or demi-human, one of very few immortal beings in existence. With no one to turn to but a childhood friend, Kei must fight for survival not only for himself but for the fate of innocent humans threatened by an evil Ajin known as Mr. Sato, the Soldier of God. Under constant hunt from government specialists, bounty hunters, and other Ajin--Kei will discover the depths of his hidden strength, and what it truly means to be a human being in the face of terrifying and insurmountable odds.
Ajin is a show about these being called Ajin which are black ghosts which are inspired within humans because of this ability they won&#39;t be able to die.<br/><br/>I have just watched this show and I have to say it&#39;s very good and interesting. I even like the 3D/CGI animation it has to it. I have watched many different 3D/CGI animated shows such as Green Lantern the animated series, Beware the batman, Spider-Man 2003, Star Wars the clone wars and a little bit of Star Wars Rebels.<br/><br/>But I have never came across an anime which was an anime which is CGI or 3D animated and it&#39;s definitely a nice change of pace then the same 2D animated or different use of colours which I see a lot in animes.<br/><br/>If you want something 3D animated with a dark story then I would recommend it.<br/><br/>Now I just hope there is a season 3 in the works so the series can end on a proper note. If you are going to watch this show expect an ending which would be left on a cliffhanger which may take time to resolve.
So recently I marathoned the entire first season of Ajin on Netflix. Personally, I loved it. Basically the story revolves around this somewhat sociopathic teen who has some very strange powers that make him an outcast in society. <br/><br/>The positives of this story are mainly related to its plot and villains. The main two antagonists of this season have so little explained about there motives that it can be infuriating. At the same time this is a huge positive because I was on edge most of the season waiting to see what they would do. One of the villains particularly was pure flawless and unfiltered evil. If you watch the series, you will know what I&#39;m talking about, and he is truly set up to be feared. The tone is also a strong aspect of this series. It stays fairly consistent and true to itself throughout. It is fairly dark. This show especially reminded me of Tokyo Ghoul, but felt less like a typical Shonen. <br/><br/>The negatives of this series lied mainly in numerous plot threads being left behind, although as stated before, I expect them to become relevant again in season 2. Another potential negative, and personal negative for me, was the art style. The animation in this show was very CG, and felt almost more like a video game cut-scene than an anime. While this style made the few fight scenes way more epic looking that they would otherwise, any scene with movement of multiple objects looked off putting. In conclusion, I would highly recommend this show. I gave it a 9/10 and am already excited for a season 2 I hope will someday come. In the mean time, if you are currently watching this show, or have finished it, some viewing recommendations I would give based on this series are &quot;Tokyo Ghoul&quot;, &quot;Parasite&quot;, and &quot;Another&quot;. All have similar tones and are not too long. <br/><br/>I hope this review was helpful!
