  1. Rip SACD with a Blu-ray player - BDP-S5100 and BDP-S390
  2. =======================================================
  3.
  4. I put this ins a spoiler so it didnt take up and entire page visually.
  5.
  6. Like any guide or instructions I highly recommend you read through these or at least skim them before using them. It will just give you an idea of where you're headed next.
  7.
  8.
  9.
  10. *For clarification I can only confirm that this guide applied to the two models that I have personally tested running on Window 10 64bit.
  11. However much of this should apply to other models and should help in troubleshooting
  12.
  13.
  14. !!! REMINDER !!! - When working with projects like thses is is not reommended to work with the files in your desktop or downloads as these are fairly long file paths.
  15. In this I will show myself using C:\temp anything that short will suffice ex: C:\PGMS, C:\active, C:\working, etc
  16.
  17.
  18.
  19.
  20. XX. First we will deal with the bulk of the software required fot this
  21.
  22.
  23.
  24. 01. Find a flash drive
  25. I have had the most luck with USB 2.0 drives 32GB or less. The ones I specifically used were 4GB
  26.
  27.
  28. 02. Format the Flash Drive FAT32, name it whataver you want.
  29.
  30.
  31. 03. Download the applicable software specific to your drive
  32. If you are using either of the two Sony Models I was here is a direct link https://www.dropbox.com/sh/gnpma48ceil80w5/AACzL4md_mFP7-gmbpsx1kFSa/AutoScript?dl=0&subfolder_nav_tracking=1
  33. otherwise software for other models is available in this post https://hifihaven.org/index.php?threads/rip-sacd-with-a-blu-ray-player.3652/page-2#post-69237
  34.
  35. Click Download in the upper right corner which will download a zip file of the folder of files. You should end up with a file called AutoScript.zip
  36.
  37.
  38. 04. Extract the zip file to folder.
  39. I recommend using 7zip
  40.
  41.
  42. 05. Copy the AutoScript folder to flash drive
  43.
  44.
  45. 06. Download and install java on your system if you dont already have it https://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
  46. Youll need both the normal and the 64bit version for a 64bit Windows system
  47.
  48.
  49. 07. Download sacd_extract for Win64 https://github.com/EuFlo/sacd-ripper/releases
  50.
  51.
  52. 08. extract the file you downloaded "sacd_extract-*.*.*.*-**-win64.zip" to a folder
  53. "*"'s signify placeholders for the specific version that you downloaded
  54.
  55.
  56. 09. OPTIONAL: rename folder to sacd_extract
  57. *this is not requied but recommend if you plan to continually use this software and update it in the future
  58.
  59.
  60. 10. Download SACDExtractGUI https://github.com/setmind/SACDExtractGUI/releases
  61. see screenshot
  62.
  63.
  64. 11. extract "SACDExtractGUI.zip" to folder
  65. see screenshot
  66.
  67.
  68. 12. run "SACDExtractGUI.jar"
  69.
  70.
  71. 13. Click Browse to find the program location for "sacd_extract.exe", otherwise if you already know the location you can type it in.
  72. this is a very important step that had me tripped up initially. This post is wehat helped me to figure it out https://hifihaven.org/index.php?threads/rip-sacd-with-a-blu-ray-player.3652/page-22#post-86645
  73. More than likely if you get an error saying port 2002 is inaccessible you've missed this step
  74.
  75.
  76. 14. Press "Test" to verify that "SACDExtractGUI" can proper access and interact with "sacd_extract.exe"
  77.
  78.
  79. 15. Selection options in SACDExtractGUI and specify and output directory.
  80. Settings will save when the program is closed. These settings can change depending on your source and what you are trying to do.
  81.
  82. For my rips I use
  83. -DSF
  84. -Stereo
  85. -Padding-less DSF
  86. -Cue sheet
  87. -Print disc summary
  88.
  89.
  90.
  91. XX. Now that the software is ready we can make sure that the Sony Blu-Ray player is setup correctly
  92.
  93.
  94.
  95. 16. OPTIONAL: Factory rest your player
  96. This can be helpful to get you to a known starting point
  97.
  98.
  99. 17. Conntect the player to your network
  100. I suggest using a cable if at all possible since it is far more reliable.
  101. In the case of these Sony BD players you may need to "set up a connection"
  102.
  103.
  104. 18. Check the IP of your device and note it down.
  105. on BDP-S5100: Setup > Network Settings > Network Connection Status
  106. on BDP-S390: Setup > Network Settings > Internet Settings > View Network Status
  107.
  108.
  109. 19. OPTIONAL: Log into your router and reserve this IP for your device so you never have to check what IP its using again
  110. This is nice since its common for your router to issue a new IP every 24 hours.
  111. There are far too many routers for me to explicitly explain how to do this and this step is not crucial but more of a convenience.
  112. Usually called IP or DHCP reservation. Its common to see it under the DHCP or LAN sections of your routuer. On something like a google wifi you can just select the device and click "Reserve IP"
  113.
  114.
  115. 20. make sure your Sony BD player is setup correctly accoring to this post https://hifihaven.org/index.php?threads/rip-sacd-with-a-blu-ray-player.3652/page-22#post-86667
  116.

  122. Setup > Audio Settings > DTS Neo:6 > Off
  123. Setup > Audio Settings > Audio DRC > Off
  124. Setup > Audio Settings > Downmix > Stereo
  125.
  126.
  127. 22. Configure BD/DVD Viewing Settings
  128. Setup > BD/DVD Viewing Settings > BD Hybrid Disc Playback Layer > BD
  129. Setup > BD/DVD Viewing Settings > BD Internet Connection > Do not allow

  134. Setup > Music Settings > Super Audio CD Playback Channel > DSD 2ch
  135. if ripping surround SACD's set playback channel to DSD Multi
  136.
  137.
  138. 24. Configure System Settings
  139. Setup > System Settings > Quick Start Mode > On
  140. Quick Start Mode being On is super important as that is what allows this all to work
  141. Setup > System Settings > Software Update Notification > Off
  142. Setup > System Settings > Gracenote Settings > Manual
  143.
  144.
  145. 25. Physically unplug your BD player wait 10-30 sec and plug back in. Verify all your setting kept, especially Quick Start Mode set to On
  146.
  147.
  148.
  149. XX. Now to start ripping!
  150.
  151.
  152.
  153. 26. Open SACDExtractGUI and enter the IP of your Sony BD player. Leave the port as 2002.
  154.
  155.
  156. 27. In SACDExtractGUI Server > Ping the IP of your BD player so you know you computer is able to see it
  157. if this does not work double check the IP address you have set
  158.
  159.
  160. 28. Insert the USB drive you made into the Front USB port and leave it in there. The disc drive will open automatically.
  161.
  162.
  163. 29. Place your SACD in the tray BUT DO NOT CLOSE IT!
  164.
  165.
  166. 30. Press the power button on the BD Player. The tray will automatically close.
  167.
  168.
  169. 31. In SACDExtractGUI Server > Test hopefully you get "[SUCCESS] Port 2002 of XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX is accessible."
  170. if you dont get this double check your IP and ping again
  171. also double check that you have set the program location for "sacd_extract.exe"
  172.
  173.
  174. 32. Click Run to start ripping!
  175. Depending on the size of the disc, how many tracks, and speed of your network this could take quite some time.
  176. Once you have this setup and working you no longer need a display hooked up to it.
  177.
  178.
  179. 33. Once complete press eject. DONT GRAB RIGHT AWAY unless you fast as itll pull the tray right back in, or at least it did on both of my units. You may need to press eject again to get your disc out.
  180.
  181.
  182. 34. To rip your next disc, put it in the tray, power off the BD player, and press rip.
  183.
  184.
  185. 35. rinse and repeate until you're out of discs.
  186.
