Beat up my sisters fiancé and everyone says I’m the bad guy.

Let me give some back story. I’m 22, I have two siblings, brother age 20, sister age 26. Me and my brother live with my parents and my sister with her fiancé. She’s been with him for a while now actually. About 3/4 years. I never disliked the guy but felt a but Indifferent towards him, but objectively he’s an ass, pretty arrogant, and I’ve heard he doesn’t treat my sister the best. I have a gf age 22. She’s pretty close to my sister and often tells me stuff my sisters told her. I’m gonna call the guy Ron.

Okay so before the first instance let me say I’ve been training at my martial arts gym since I was about 11/12, I do kickboxing and muy Thai. Anyways, one day the whole extended family had a bbq in this field next to my grandparents home. We all played football. My brother is very non confrontational so I do tend to be a little protective of him. Anyway, long story short the football game got heated and Ron got up in my brothers face aggressively. My instinct was to instantly get between them and basically replace my brother in the stare down. Everyone sprinted to us and stopped it. Everyone was just chalking it up to the sports and the drink but I knew this guy was just an ass.

Fast forward a year, a lot of bad stuff has happened between my sister and Ron that had my sister staying at home quite a lot. She hasn’t said he was physically violent at any point though so it wasn’t really anyone place to step in.

There was a family get together at my sisters place on Friday night and I decided to sit it out because my gf hadn’t been all too well. I stayed home with my gf. About 11:25 my brother texts me saying “come over Ron is acting up”. I was assuming he’s being an idiot and was literally About to call my brother and my mom calls me. My heart sank at this point for some reason. But she explained Ron had slapped my sisters face and thrown his drink over her. My dad stepped in and Ron pushed him and began telling people to leave. My dad isn’t in age physical shape or stage in his life to be physically challenging this man regardless of the situation. But however, the house is in her name and she argued and said they don’t have to leave and she didn’t feel safe.

I made ways to the house and was there in about 10 minutes, there was family/friends outside and many inside too. I could actually hear the arguing and hear my brother and my mothers voices too. My girlfriend was asking me not to escalate the situation and I didn’t want to scare her so although I was seeing red, I didn’t set out to straight up attack him. I will admit I knew what it was going to be as soon as people started following me back in. My mother and sister were in tears and my sisters makeup and hair was a mess from having his drink thrown in it. I’ll be honest I just waited for an excuse to lay hands. I went in, got straight in between him and my dad and told him he’s done and he’s leaving right now. He laid hands straight away and pushed me. I beat his ass pretty bad. I punched him a couple times and he actually went down, I went to go on top of him and my father held me back. Ron however stood up and spat at me so I laid into him. I punched him again and connected an elbow which cut him pretty bad. I took him down and got his ribs repeatedly until my dad and a couple other family friends dragged me off again.

One of Ron’s friends who was there sort of tried to snatch me from the crowd and was screaming profanities. He came at me with his bottle and it actually hit my shoulder. I landed only one punch and he dropped down infront of me on his hands and knees but was getting straight back up. Everyone rushed in between and tried to take me out but I wouldn’t leave until ron and his friends had left. They eventually took him away and people began to file out.

I woke up to a lot of texts from family/friends. It was mixed but I got a lot of “You scared people” “You’re going to jail” “You didn’t have to be aggressive” messages from family and friends. My mom also said she didn’t like what i did. My brother and father obviously agree with how I went about the situation too.

Where do I come in on a legal standpoint? I think I was right in doing what I did in all honesty but people are sowing doubts in my head.
