  1. [8:47 PM] Marque Jensen: The next morning when he comes out of his cabin, Marque is dressed... well, nicely. It's not quite a suit, but he looks good enough to present in public without coming off as some eclectic negotiator or space wizard. His hair is even combed. It's almost suspicious. He isn't planning on anything, is he? He'd better not be... Regardless, he comes down and sits in the cockpit next to Mirielle, wearing that smile of his and waiting for them to land at Doaba Guerfel. Nomad's Retreat. A beautiful resort town in the northern Nomad Mountains, a place that has always tried to be a wonderous respite for all weary travelers (who can afford it), even throughout the Empire's Reign.
  2. [8:49 PM] *Mirielle Strovas notices his entrance but keeps her eyes peeled for any trouble in the skies. She seems.. not nervous, but very aware and focused, as though expecting them to be blown out of the sky by any number of possible threats. Her grip adjusts on the controls as she shuffles around in her seat a bit, inching slightly away from the other available seat, as much of an offer as Marque was likely to get.
  3. [8:50 PM] Marque Jensen: An offer he takes. "Hey," he says in greeting. "You sure you wanna come? I'm not going to any parties or seeing any sights or anything."
  4. [8:52 PM] *Mirielle Strovas unfocuses ever so slightly on the view in front of her. "Is there a reason you offered then? And only offered for me to come along?"
  5. [8:53 PM] Marque Jensen: "Oh, right..." he says with a little chuckle, "I did that thing where I don't explain myself again, didn't I..."
  6. [8:53 PM] Marque Jensen: "I'm from Doaba Guerfel."
  7. [8:54 PM] *Mirielle Strovas looks fully over to the Jedi, eyebrow raised. "So this is something personal and probably not related to our bounty?"
  8. [8:54 PM] *Marque Jensen points out the window as they dock, over to the edge of the resort city. "Right over there, family worked for the city back when it was still Nomad's Retreat."
  9. [8:55 PM] *Mirielle Strovas seemed to land the ship rather well despite taking her eyes off the cockpit. She flipped a switch, which caused a hissing sound from somewhere as the ship settled and locked in place.
  10. [8:56 PM] Marque Jensen: "Nah... my friend, Garm Ellen... he died a while back." The jedi shrugs, getting up from the chair and stretching. "I found out back on Tattooine."
  11. [8:56 PM] Marque Jensen: "Heh, kinda explains things, doesn't it?" he jokes.
  12. [8:57 PM] Mirielle Strovas: "Why are we here then? What are you expecting?"
  13. [8:57 PM] *Mirielle Strovas she checks a few more things and fiddles about (according to you) with some gadgets, a few more hissing sounds erupting from the ship.
  14. [8:58 PM] Marque Jensen: "I just wanted to... Iunno, see him one last time."
  15. [8:59 PM] *Marque Jensen shrugs, "it's kind of cheesy. But here we are on Corellia."
  16. [9:00 PM] *Mirielle Strovas furrows her brow, obviously expecting something hidden in his words, but doesn't want to push a possibly touchy subject. "And.. you want me to come?"
  17. [9:00 PM] Marque Jensen: "If you like," is all he says, standing in the doorway.
  18. [9:01 PM] Mirielle Strovas: "Eh, why not. I'd like to take a look around."
  19. [9:03 PM] Mirielle Strovas: "Let me change though, this place is a little... higher class."
  20. [9:03 PM] *Marque Jensen smiles, more genuine than usual. "Thanks."
  21. [9:05 PM] *Mirielle Strovas walks to her cabin, the door sliding shut. She emerges moments later, in.. pretty much the exact same flight suit, this one just having less wear and tear to it. She nods toward the back of the ship where the ramp is lowering.
  22. [9:07 PM] *Marque Jensen should have known not to expect a fancy dress, but he had anyway. He chuckles, and offers his arm to the captain as they walk out.
  23. [9:09 PM] *Mirielle Strovas rolls her eyes at the arm and claps him on the shoulder, then lets her arms hang as they walk. "Are we... visiting a grave site?"
  24. [9:12 PM] Marque Jensen: "Yeah," he says, taking it in stride that she won't hold his arm. "It isn't that far from the station. Well, the tram goes there." Said tram is only a few meters walk from the space dock, thankfully. Efficient city planners. "Just figure I'd go and... I don't know, say hi. Maybe... maybe go see his mom."
  25. [9:14 PM] *Mirielle Strovas walks for a bit towards the tram. She takes his hand and squeezes it, then lets it go. "That's... a lot more than I would have given you credit for. Were you close to his family?"
  26. [9:16 PM] Marque Jensen: "Kinda. A while back, before I went off for a life of adventure and all that jazz." He puts his hands into his pockets, and looks at the lights dancing through the windows and across the floor. "He kinda... we drifted apart, after I left, and he got on slick[starwars.wikia.com]."
  27. [9:19 PM] *Mirielle Strovas sits back in her seat, soaking everything in, just listening, trying to focus on what he was saying and parse it all out, then struggling to find something appropriate to say. "That's... I'm sorry to hear that happened."
  28. [9:20 PM] Mirielle Strovas: "Did you see him at all since then?"
  29. [9:22 PM] Marque Jensen: He's quiet for a long time. Two whole stops. Then he finally speaks up. "No... I mean, kind of. I saw him once, after we drifted apart. I was... back here on Corellia, for my mom's funeral. I didn't even realize it was Garm at first."
  30. [9:26 PM] *Mirielle Strovas leans forward, uncrossing her legs and setting one elbow on her knee, her hand holding her chin. She slowly turns her head, her hand now supporting her cheek, to look at Marque. "Your.. mom's dead, too?"
  31. [9:30 PM] *Marque Jensen smirks, and shrugs at that, taking his hands out of his pocket. "Yeah. While back. She had Kanju's. It was a long time coming."
  32. [9:31 PM] *Mirielle Strovas lets out a long sigh. "And... your father?"
  33. [9:32 PM] Marque Jensen: "Uh... that I don't know..." he admits, wincing a little.
  34. [9:34 PM] *Mirielle Strovas leans back again, crossing her legs. "That's strange. I don't know where my mother is, and Dad's dead." She gives a little chuckle. "Nothing to do but act carefree and happy all the time though, huh? Otherwise you just sit around wallowing in self pity."
  35. [9:37 PM] *Marque Jensen leans back, having a good laugh at that, "Oh come on, I'm not wallowing in self pity, there are plenty of bastards. Hell, plenty at Doaba Guerfel." He gives a dismissive little wave, "I just generally find it better in life to smile." The tram stops, and Jensen gets up, offering Mirielle his real hand. He makes a good point, but maybe he's just lying to himself instead of to his captain.
  36. [9:40 PM] *Mirielle Strovas takes the hand to get up, then walks out with Marque. "No, I mean.. you can either sit around and feel sorry for yourself, or.. you try to forget it. Or move past it. Do what you need to do. Be productive, rather than letting it ruin you."
  37. [9:41 PM] Marque Jensen: He shrugs again, "pretty much." No one else is getting off at the cemetery. It's not that big a tourist destination, and this is off season as it is.
  38. [9:52 PM] *Mirielle Strovas walks alongside, following him to the site, studying him carefully as he weaves through the graves.
  39. [9:55 PM] *Marque Jensen just walks through the cemetery, letting the Force guide him. It takes him in a meandering path through the statuaries and headstones. The cemetery may be for those year round residents, but it's part of Nomad's Retreat, and everything here is beautiful for the tourists. He walks with his hands tucked in his pants, looking at all the craftsmanship around him, and the art. Stone angels, most human but some not, most gorgeous, but some hideous and foretelling how death comes to all. His steps slow. And he signals for Miri to wait. He goes forward, and kneels down at one of the graves of a twenty three year old man named Garm Ellen.
  40. [9:57 PM] *Mirielle Strovas spent most of the time studying the Jedi in a new light, watching every twitch and movement with new meaning behind him. She tried to keep as silent as possible (+10 stealth) to let his mind wander and work. She stops just a split second before his hand comes up to signal at her, and she blinks, reading the grave in front of Marque.
  41. [10:22 PM] Marque Jensen: "Hey, Garm..." he says quietly, snatching a flower out of the vase on the grave next door. He rolls the stem in his fingers, and just looks at it, playing with the petals. "I'm sorry about turning you in. I thought it would help you, but I guess not... sorry I never came back, like I said I would... I guess..." he bites his lip, tugging a few of the petals off with a quiet whisper of servos, letting them fall to the ground. "I guess at least you died happy, right? I don't know much about slick overdoses. I met the Heroes of the Battle of Yavin. Han is every bit as cool as we thought he'd be..." he's pulled off all the petals, and tosses the stem aside, grabbing another one from the vase next door. He goes through three more, telling his dead friend about how he's a jedi now. "I don't really know if I wanna be one anymore. It isn't like we thought it'd be," he admits. "I couldn't really save anybody. And you died while I was off in the Banthaa's crack..." he changes subject, smiling, "hey, remember that girl I told you about? I met her again." Then he looks over his shoulder, remembering she's there, sad smile on his face. Are his cheeks wet? He turns back to the grave, "she came with me... Anyway, I guess... I just wanted to say I'm sorry, Garm."
  42. He puts down the last flower in the remnants of it's slain kin, and rocks on the balls of his feet before getting up, back stiff from crouching down. He turns around, wiping his eyes. "Must have been raining..." is the excuse he makes, chuckling a little at his own joke. "Come on..." The might-be Jedi goes back over to Miri and offers his crooked arm.
  43. [10:33 PM] *Mirielle Strovas 's head was tilted upward, looking up at the sky. She blinked a few times, gave a sniff, then took the arm, "Yeah.. rain", and walked back with him. She walks a little further, then drops the arm and puts hers over his shoulders, giving him a strong, bolstering tug against her. She leaves the arm around him as they make their way back to the tram, her mind desperately trying to hold on to everything she just heard and piece it together. She didn't know what to expect coming out here, but would never in a millenium had guessed this.
  44. [10:36 PM] *Marque Jensen laughs a little, not really sure what's gotten into her. He smiles the whole trip back, leaning back his head and looking up at the tram ceiling. His shoulders slump less, and he seems less... bothered. "Thanks," he says again, leaning over to give Miri a little bump with his shoulder. "You didn't have to come, but... I'm really glad you did."
  45. [10:40 PM] *Mirielle Strovas tilts her head back and forth, her neck popping. "I.. guess I was curious. You're a lot more than I thought or give you credit for. And..." She turns to look directly at him. "You.. really do talk about me, huh." She gives a half smile, then leans her head back onto the seat again. "I know I might.. seem a little weird now, but now that I know you aren't just some plucky happy-go-lucky insolent jerk, you're... kinda hard to be angry with. I'm glad I came as well."
  46. [10:42 PM] Marque Jensen: "Hey!" he says, puffing up his cheeks cartoonishly, lips pursed. "I'm still a happy-go-lucky insolent jerk."
  47. [10:42 PM] Marque Jensen: "I mean, wait, what?"
  48. [10:45 PM] *Mirielle Strovas turns to look at him. "It's not even that. Just... you never let on that the world kinda gave you a bad hand. And.. you wanted me to know all this, so. Thanks." She puts her head in her hands, lets out a long sigh, then slumps back into her seat. "It's not fair you know, I really don't want to have to pity you."
  49. [10:48 PM] *Marque Jensen laughs, and gives the captain a pat on the shoulders. "Then don't. I didn't bring you along as some sort of trick, I just... I don't know, wanted you to be here with me."
  50. [10:49 PM] *Mirielle Strovas gives him a smirk and looks back up at the ceiling again. "Yeah. I'm glad you trusted me to let me know all this though. I like knowing what my crew is up to."
  51. [10:52 PM] Marque Jensen: "What was your dad like?" He asks, after a bit of thoughtful silence.
  52. [10:56 PM] *Mirielle Strovas is silent for a bit, then lets out a long sigh. "He.. he raised me. Himself, mostly. I was his little girl, and he raise me to be tough, and to not let anyone get to me. He was my idol and my hero. He joined the rebels and fought in the war, but... never came back from that." She gives another sniff as she continues staring at the ceiling.
  53. [10:57 PM] Mirielle Strovas: "Why don't you know where your dad is?"
  54. [10:59 PM] *Marque Jensen bites his lip. "Well, because he was just some rich braintick on vacation..."
  55. [10:59 PM] *Mirielle Strovas turns to look at him. "Oh.. you've... never met him?"
  56. [10:59 PM] Marque Jensen: "He was some big shot from Coruscant, unless he was lying. He was only here a week."
  57. [11:00 PM] *Marque Jensen gives Mirielle a friendly nudge in the ribs, grinning despite the subject matter, "all those times you called me a bastard, huh...?"
  58. [11:01 PM] *Mirielle Strovas pushes his arm away, grinning. "You're terrible."
  59. [11:02 PM] Marque Jensen: "Yup," he agrees
  60. [11:03 PM] Marque Jensen: "We're quite the pair..."
  61. [11:03 PM] Marque Jensen: "What about your mom?"
  62. [11:03 PM] Mirielle Strovas: "Seems so."
  63. [11:04 PM] Mirielle Strovas: "Nah.. she left for spice when I was young. Don't give a tauntaun's ass where she is."
  64. [11:05 PM] Mirielle Strovas: "Probably dead somewhere. She deserves it."
  65. [11:06 PM] Marque Jensen: "Good riddance," he agrees. "Maybe she and my dad are out there somewhere going over the river somewhere."
  66. [11:07 PM] Mirielle Strovas: "Eesh. Wouldn't that be something. I'd hate to run into the type of offspring THEY'D have."
  67. [11:09 PM] Mirielle Strovas: "Well, this has been... enlightening. Hopefully you don't trigger a deep down need in me to mother poor little you. And.. we should get back to work. Find a buyer maybe, who's after us, your mission..."
  68. [11:10 PM] Mirielle Strovas: "Hey.. you don't.. like being a Jedi?"
  69. [11:10 PM] *Marque Jensen clears his throat, "Oh, right... you heard that."
  70. [11:11 PM] Mirielle Strovas: "Is that why you're doing this?"
  71. [11:12 PM] Marque Jensen: "No, not... well, not entirely," he admits. "I mean, I'm all for carrying out the rest of the mission, just... not going back to Yavin."
  72. [11:15 PM] *Mirielle Strovas gets up, the tram having arrived back at the ship. "Whelp, let's just see what this big universe has in store for us. Not much else you can do but go forward."
