- Buckle Bay is a medical genius, and a social retard. He lives with his brother Buffy Bay under the old pokemon center that they (Buffy did most of it) converted into their personal haven.
- The top floor of the pokemon center has been remade into a conservatory, that is as elegant as it is practical. The glass roof has been completely redone, and the ground covered with soil the color of coffee. A clay path has been constructed that leads through out the roof top garden. The path Begins at the stair case, front left of the building and flows from there to the back of the room, where the fire pit and the Overlook lay. The Overlook is what Buffy has taken to calling the non existent west wall of the room. The Overlook is mostly a benefit to the conservatory as it faces west, so it is sheltered from the harsh winds of the city in the north and the sea in the east, but still is can be a liability. It is the most obvious point of entry for any attacker (unlike the ground floor the second story has little in the way of security), and it makes the idea of climate control laughable. At the precisest of the Overlook Buckle (really Buckle this time) put up a picket fence, the tips of each picket has been painted a bright orange.
- The fire pit is shallow pit encircled by earth colored stones about the size and shape of small tree stumps. Around the fire pit a few larger stones of similar shape, though much paler in color have been arranged to form a sort of star the points out past the Overlook. To the north of the fire pit there is a spot for both the storing and making of fuel, as well as a small shack that provides board to the less fine pillows and blankets made by the Bay family; two large blue tarps room with their softer cousins. Buffy does his best writing by the fire. He likes to sit and wright while he waits for sunset. Buffy wrights about his family, about half of it is true. He likes to make up stories about him and his brother being traveling doctors, going from town to town leaving a wake of peace and health. He wrights also a lot of his younger sister, Bonnie. She works as a courier and is often away from long stretches of time, when ever she gets back she always has lots of stories to tell. Buffy listens carefully, always carefully, then right before sunset wrights it all down. Sometimes though he gets worried about Bonnie when she is away, so he wrights stories about her. Stories with happy endings, and that calms him. Buffy also wrights about his thoughts, most of what he rights is about his thoughts. Sometimes he cast them into verse, but much more often than that he scribbles them down about as fast as they come to him. All of this helps Buffy stay sane. He is only a month younger than Buckle and 11 years older than Bonnie, but most days he feels 22 years older than both of them. Buffy is the only half sane one of the three remaining children of the great Patton Bay, son of Madeline Bay (the only ditto to never know it was a ditto), and the only other ditto to never know it was a ditto. This (to Buffy’s mind) makes Buffy the single most depended on being sense Atlas. How could he not feel this way? Buckle would surely have poisoned himself and the whole town with his reckless experiments if Buffy didnt record all his working recipes so religiously. Buckle would never have finished building anything other than the conservatory and lab if not for him, they would have no home and no custamors. They would be broke if not for Buffy’s good bizsness sense (the only thing Buckles knows about money is that he wants it). Forget finishing revevations, it was Buffy who came up with the idea to use the old pokemon center in the first place (not that Buckle would even remember that). They would be dead if Buffy didnt constantly save them; conversing the village guard not to kill them, fighting off those weavile twins, stopping that break in (Buffy is still bothered by that one), convincing Buckle not to go out into the hurricane to look for orbs, and many many (many) more. Don’t get him started on Bonnie. That girl must have some kinda aura of adventure (this is a very bad thing to Buffy). Every other time she visits she seems to bring a typhoon of trouble with her. Despite all this (or maybe because of it) Buffy loves his brother and sister more than he loves the sky above; and if Atlas could hold up the sky, well then why shouldn't he be able to? Atlas didn't even have love on his side.
- Although it does get tiresome, and he often snaps at the townmons (that is even more tiresome). He has snapped so many times he has gotten a reputation for it. To Buffy’s thinking; he is pretty much always kind and gentle (on good days he can be witty too), which is part of why his snaps scare people so much. Its a complete U turn, and it hits hard. Things have gotten to the point that the only remaining half sane Bay sibling is the one people treat most like a nut case. Sliver lining is they don’t bother him while he writes anymore.
- In the conservatory Buckle grows many things, most of them supplementary to his real crop; Berries. It was often said (by his little sister) that Buckles grandfather must have taken a a berry wife.
- This is was of course, absurd, Bonnie was a kid (or more of one) when she came up with that one. Still, there is no denying Buckles strange magical skill with berries. Oran is what he grows the most of, he has a damn near constant supple of the things, He cultivates many other Berries as well, and he does it well enough, but not like his orans. His orans are the best. Not the best thing he grows, but the best anything anyone grows. Buckle Bay’s orans are the blue of the sea caught in the gleam of a sapphire, firm like marble, tender and soft like green moss, bittersweet like the sun in a storm, and as perfectly subtle as morning dew. Taking a Bite out of one its like- my God- its like kissing the women the that moon would be. They are with out question, with out equal. His skill in their shaping is also- although not nearly so completely perfect- quite the marvel. On the ground level of the pokemon center, behind the behind of the counter, is Buckles lab (only Buckle hates to “word lab” and insists that everyone call it his studio). The studio is as organized exactly the same way as a forest, and is damn impossible for anyone other than the planter of the forest to navigate. So many jars of juice and pulp, so many boxes of roots and leaves, so many cupboards of minerals, so many draws of fine tools, so few machines all of unascertainable nature. How the room is lit depends on what kind of chemicals can be allowed in the air. Some times a mighty oak log is brought in to burn, other times a twig from a chesto tree, most often it is light by birch wood burning in the furnace. The pale wood casts a warm glow on everything in the studio. When Buckle brews his many magic medicines and wild tonics he enters a state of focus that the high monks of the low mountains of Jovsavo would kill for. In this state of mind he works diligently for many hours making big batches of many things, although he looks rather silly- very much like an octopus having a seizure while trying to drive a jet plane into combat- this is when he is most serious. Interrupting the good doctor while he works would likely result is something bad happening to you, almost certainly involving bleeding. The town certainly would not be doing as well as it is if not for him. He has a good heart, he just has a hard time with words, and emotions, and thoughts. Part of why he started making medicines was so he could help people with out having to spend all that much time with them (he much prefers the company of plants to things that can speak, even when the things that speak say nice things). The other, bigger, part, was the attention. All he has to do is whip up some berry juice, or maybe a gummy, and people fall over them selves to be give him free shit and kind words. At least that’s what Buckle thinks. Truth is that people are nice to Buckle not because because he makes such kick ass drugs (even though he does), or because his smoothies taste like what would be left over if ambrosia and manna made sweet sweet love by a warm fire on a cold spring day (which they do), or even because he is the only doctor in town (he isn't), but because they like him. The talk of the town is that the good Doctor Buckle is a stand up guy, that’s sharp as a Slash, and has a wicked sense of humor, real unique fella (they mean all this in a good way of course). The only change that occurred when Buckle became a medicine man was that he was talking to people more.
- If only they knew Buckle is just as conceited, humorless, manic, and mean, as people think he is pretending to be. Why, they would treat him even worse than they treat his brother Buffy. Its a good thing then that people will never find out. Why? They don’t want to. If they found out they would have to treat him worse than Buffy, and that would mean losing their favorite medicine man, so they just laugh it all off. Its for the best really, its not like Buckle does a bad job (I hope I have conveyed how far from the truth that is), he’s just... extrinsic. Rude custamors will soon find them selves rude test subjects, this is well know in the town and strangly enuogh well liked.
- The ground floor of the pokemon center has seen the least amount of love. The biggest change was obviously Buckles studio, but that was less renovation as it was repourpousing. That describes the second floor best really, reporpuesed. Mostly, they cleaned it, threw a sign up out front, and called it a day. Although they where repaired, the front door and lobby windows stay permanently open, so there is no functional difference. The main medical room is now Buckle’s studio, the ER still proves useful in its original form. The men and women bunk rooms have been converted into green houses so that a few herbs may be grown all year (the conversion of the bunk rooms must have used up all the love the brothers had for the ground floor). The ground floor is the only floor seen by non family members.
- A green wood door opens to a short brick stair case leads down into a foyer. The foyer is flanked to the north by a large window, across from the window is a coat rack that vaguely resembles a tree in winter. The floor of the foyer is covered by a white rug that contains 3 brown circuls roughly the color of the walls. Out from the corner of the rug you can see the reddish wood used as flooring. Past the foyer there is the den, the north side of which has a large fire place made from the same brick as the stairs; a small stove is built into it. On the west wall there is a long low table, on it there are 3 bowls and 3 mugs. The first mug is white with a blue handle and its corresponding bowl white with a blue lip. The second mug is green on the outside and white on the inside and lip, the bowl is the reverse. The third mug is brown for the bottom third and handle, there is also a brown stripe where the handle meets the main body, the bowl is black all for all but the lip that is pink. From the right side of the fire place extends a wall of brick, shorter and lower than the table on the west all. In the bay created by the fireplace and its arms, the floor is covered by many soft and comfy things. To the south of the fire pit there are 3 doors, each one leads to one of the Bay siblings rooms. Bonnie’s is the only one that is locked, it is also the least used. Buckles room is small and plain; it has only a bed and a small chest. Buffy’s room is the bigger and only slightly less plain; it has a bed (of course) a small chest (of course) and a desk. The desk is rather ornate and distantly art nevou (not that any pokemon in the world knows what that is), but its most stricking feture would be its seeming near constant use. The desk is almost always so completely in use that it is impossible to see its top, its sides so stained with ink the original color could only be made out by a color expert. Buffy loves his desk, as he should; for it is a wonderful work of craftsmanship, but really he loves it because it was a birthday gift from his dear brother Buckle.
