Chapter 13 - Dec 1943: Pax Brevi

US Intelligence finds evidence that China, Russia, and Eretna have all begun their own nuclear program. There is no telling how far along they have gotten, but one thing is for sure. The US and Britain are not the only nations to have theorized about an unworldly explosion caused by fusion.

Russia breaks the few months of peace by invading Georgia for its small enclave state of Rostov on April 7th, 1944.

Volunteer divisions from Britain aren't enough to save poor Georgia, and it is nearly swallowed up by the Russian tide within weeks.

In Brazil, a civil war has begun, and the democratic rebels is now attempting to wrest control of the country from the dictatorial Brazilian government.

President Eternien decides it is not worth going to war over, especially given how terrible the conditions were in the last war in South America. Two veteran US infantry divisions under General Lucas Luc are sent as expeditionary forces to the rebelling Brazil. But before the forces even have a chance to fight, the rebels are defeated, and democratic Brazil is annexed back into the country.

It takes much longer than anticipated to fully defeat the Georgians, but they do surrender in July. Russia, in a dirty move, does more than just take Georgian Rostov. The entirety of Georgia is annexed into the Russian Empire.

The second their war with Georgia was over, Russian forces began beelining toward the UBP. Now, they are massing along the border. Clearly, they do not plan on a lasting peace. A newly formed 20 division army is sent to Scandinavia to shore up Britain's defenses.

As Russia leans more and more towards war, the US economy begins mobilizing. Just as before, civilian factories are converted to military use, closed munitions and plane factories are reopened, and new units are put into training.

The end comes on October 7th, 1944. Russia declares war on the United Baltic Provinces.
