Top 10 video game series(I cheated edition) with my progression on them.

1. Shin Megami Tensei/Persona series(haven't beaten SMT:If)
1.Fire Emblem(Completed the entire series every single version)
2. Mega Man Series ALL(Completed)
2. Dragon Quest (Beat every single mainline DQ)
2. Sonic(beat everything cept Sonic Lost World)
3. Xeno series(Haven't finished Xenogears and Xenosaga trilogy so basically I'm a fake fan)
3. Castlevania(Beat every game cept Bloodlines and Curse of Darkness)
3. Tales of Series (Played every game but haven't beat Eternia or Destiny II)
4. Yakuza (Beat all cept Dead Souls)
5. SaGa Series(Haven't beat RomSaGa1, FF2, FF3, Unlimited Saga(Probably never will) SF2)
6. Ys (Played all of them but haven't beat V(Sick emoji) and working on IX)
7. Trails series(Haven't beat From Zero/Ao or Cold Steel yet 2/28/2021)
8. Final Fantasy series(I have beat all mainline entries)
9. Shantae(Beat every cept original)
10. Sonic(I have beat every Sonic game cept Forces)

It's 1/15/2024 let's do this once again after YoshiP gave me hope for FF and after SE is making me 🤔 at DQ

1. Megaten(Even despite all the Persona oversaturation I think we can see good stuff in the future)
1. Fire Emblem(I think this series is in a good spot looking forward to FE4 remake or a new entry)
3. Dragon Quest(Very consistent series with few flaws)
3. Mega Man(My second love I have the same things to say about it as DQ)
5. Final Fantasy(my first love, While I have been negative on this series I cannot deny how important it is to me and how there is still so many great games even though I don't fuck with the newer ones)
6. Zelda(consistent series I have the same feelings as FF where I didn't fuck with BotW or TotK but BotW more than TotK great games just needs more cool items and cool stories)
7. Castlevania(This series is basically dead but I love it a lot(
8. Tales of Series(Namco does not know how to use this IP, love it to death sometimes more than everything in this list but it will always be B-tier in the eyes of people)
9. Yakuza/Like a Dragon(I think this is a very consistent series with some high highs being Yakuza 0, original 1&2, Yakuza 7 and Kuroyou, I can't wait for my next series playthrough)
10. Xeno series(initially had this higher but need a series playthrough to get real feelings

Honorable mentions: Sonic, Mario, Shantae, SaGa, Ys(initially higher but need to do a series playthrough), Trails(initially higher but quality drops off in Cold Steel arc), Breath of Fire(initially higher but was just on a high still easily Top 11-20)

I thought it would be interesting to place a list as if I got everything I wanted from each series.

1. Final Fantasy (Keep the edgy action games as spinoffs, mainline are in turn based or turnbased adjacent, mix of real time and turned based is fine, always have at least 6 party members minimum, every other FF has a Job system and Dissidia is revived)
2.Mega Man(The only games being made are Mega Man X games, StarForce and Legends with bigger budgets and every other year there is a huge crossover event between all the franchises)
3. Megaten(Persona and mainline SMT releases are traded off and given the same love regardless of sales, a big crossover fighting game is created with SMT, Persona and Metaphor, remakes of SMT1, 2, Persona 1 and 2 exist, Raidou is revived, DeSu is revived )
4. Fire Emblem(I think FE is the most consistent series despite not having very many finished games so if games just actually finish and more Avatars were like Alear this would be nice(
5. Dragon Quest(More unique music, put every game on steam, no midi music, make non-offensive dark skin characters, talking Hero, more female leads, maximum of only 3 previous songs can be reused)
6. Zelda(Traditional 3D Zelda still exists with smaller scale open world games fusing into it, Top down Zeldas would still exist as well, Zelda II gets a remake)
7. Tales of series(Honestly just bigger budgets, go back to using World maps, probably copy FFVIIR on this actually and continue to make big crossover games)
8. Castlevania(Make a game about the war where Julius killed Dracula for good, give Sonia a good game, continue to make both Metroidvania and Whipvanias, give Shanoa more games, do another crossover game, have Belmonts akways be playable in Metroidvania)
9. Yakuza(Really have no criticisms other than do faithful remakes that respect the originals, use Akiyama more, Majima game??)
10. Sonic(literally give Sonic a bigger budget and time and use Blaze more)

Comment: I think we can safely say my solid 5 is Megaten, Mega Man, Dragon Quest, Fire Emblem and Zelda. Final Fantasy can easily take that spot based on future releases. We will see how the FFIX remake is handled

1. Megaten - my goat series prob till I die or they royally fuck up a mainline game
2. Mega Man - my goat platform series too many good games across different genres
3. Fire Emblem - recent games have been a lot weaker but I think we can only go up
4. Zelda - same as Fire Emblem
5. Final Fantasy - series is way too influential on my personality even if I hate how it is now it can't go lower than 5
6. Dragon Quest - love this series to death, really wanna see some changes though
7. Castlevania - not much to say it's fuckin Castlevania
8. Tales of - series would easily be Top 5 if it wasn't a Namco IP
9. Sonic - just love these characters too much even if the game quality is a rollercoaster
10. Xeno or Yakuza - can't decide between the 2 Xenoblade 4 or X2 will help me decide

2. Fire Emblem - always big 3
3. Mega Man - Honestly with how Capcom treats this it might fall out of Big 3
4. Zelda - curious what the next 3D Zelda will be like and next 2D Zelda will look like
5. Sonic - it's earned it's spot in Top 5 potentially big 3 if Sega keeps it up
6. Dragon Quest - forever a Top 10 contender we gotta see DQ XII man
7. Tales of - replayed a lot of the series and there is new hope given Top 5 contender
8. Xeno series, played a ton of Xenosaga last year I think this could be a Top 5 contender in the series but Xenoblade replayability holds it back
9. Castlevania - forever love this franchise but will continue to not really go up due to it being dormant
10. Monster Hunter - I think this will eventually leave top 10 my #10 is always cursed.

Honorable mentions: Suikoden - I plan to play the entire series this year and it might be revived, I have only played Suikoden 1 & 2. Mario - the goat but may never be in Top 10 unless new RPGs are on the menu, Wonder was lit though, Breath of Fire - easy easy Top 10 entry has been there before but Capcom gotta show me they care, Yakuza - not much to say can't wait for Yak 9 and Akiyama Gaiden, Goemon - looovveee this franchise man but not sure if it's Top 10 level, maybe my thoughts change if I learn Speedruns
Shantae - need a series replay waiting for LRGs to send the new GBA game good lord, prob Wayforward's fault too

Additional Notes: honestly what comes down to what makes my Top 10 is, does it make me feel good, am I satisfied with the current state/how many games exist. Castlevania is by all means a dead franchise but I'm satisfied with how many games exist and Bloodstained exists, Mega Man I am absolutely satisfied with how many games exist but I do feel it's a franchise that should still get games if Pac-Man is getting them. I think what it will come down to for Top 10 spot is Atelier and Onimusha will Capcom fuck up Onimusha? Stay tuned

I FINALLY THINK I HAVE A SOLID 10, It was really tough I was considering removing Xeno for Metroid because honestly the Xenosaga trilogy is doing a ton of heavy lifting for it and it's a dormant franchise, but we'll see how I feel about Xenoblade 4!

Okay I lied, Xeno got pushed out because I did a replay of the Xenoblade series and I find those games to be great first experiences but not great replayable games, Tomb Raider is something I got into this year and I pretty much love the franchise and it's getting 2 games, The Mega Man dream is alive so Mega Man is back in top 3 and likely staying there unless the next 3D Zelda is amazing(I doubt it)

Well what can I say man, YoshiP and his team said the nice thing in this abusive relationship and now I have cope for FF again. Tales recently got an announcement for Eternia and while that will never leave my Top 10 it's just something I want to mention. This will likely be my Top 10 for the rest of my life let's be real, only real potential screw ups are from the bottom 3. I do not see my Top 3 ever changing(even though it has before but I get emotional sometimes) I think my Top 6 are locked in but it just takes one Sonic game I'm not happy with and one Final Fantasy that's great to win me back
