  1. >play CM
  2. >get Researcher by surprise
  3. >quickly read about it
  4. >heavy RP
  5. >spend the next three hours actually doing legitimate RP like I've never done before, but before we go that far
  6. >meet my colleague, he's into chemistry, I'm into xenobiology
  7. >not going to actually have ayys on anytime soon so I create two monkeys with cubes to fill two controlled cells
  8. >decide that we're finally going to get that scientific breakthrough all researchers dream of
  9. >my colleague is on board and start mixing up chems to feed to the monkeys
  10. >I start documenting this on paper (like actual tedious paperwork in an authentic fashion)
  11. >take control pictures with a polaroid camera
  12. >test subect A1 and A2 begin testing
  13. >hour 01:00, A2 is given compound KV-12 and A1 - designated the 'sub' is given knowingly trashy chems which we don't name because it's mixed ashtray garbage
  14. >we mill about, I smoke and talk shit about the doctors, he furiously mixes away at the chem station and even starts a few accidental fires
  15. >I write up a W-Y non-liability and ND paper regarding our super secret project and make it so the CMO has to sign
  16. >No CMO, Commander isn't interested in assigning one
  17. >None the less I decide to sign myself due to ancillary circumstances, I am now head researcher
  18. >hour 02:00, A2 seems unchanged, A1 seems unchanged, my colleague prepares a special compound for A1 which we anticipate will provoke a reaction. A1 begins to drools, before we depart we suddenly notice A2 is jumping about frantically
  19. >Is this telepathy? Is this sensory? BREAKTHROUGH
  20. >polaroids and a thesis are prepared for writing up
  21. >I go downstairs to get masks and more latex gloves for stage two and bump into the corporate liason
  22. >can't find CMO so I fill him in on the absence of such and that this place has really gone to the dogs, which it had. Doctors were laying around on the stretchers and a few had gone braindead
  23. >he wants to speak to me in my office as the research team are the only ones who seem to have a purpose
  24. >comes up and I give him the introduction to my colleague our activities
  25. >excited to actually see a progress in the narrative of our roleplay as we announce to the liason that on behalf of W-Y, we have potentially unlocked a biological breakthrough
  26. >liason is fascinated and wants to see the reports and such
  27. >but before we do that has a concerns about the mentality of the commander (who was doing a poor job that round) and wanted me to conduct an evaluation
  28. >before we can discuss this further, XO enters and forces my colleague to the ground
  29. >threatens to brig him if he doesn't conduct surgeries downstairs
  30. >we roleplay out a bunch of valid reasons why he shouldn't, couldn't and doesn't have to
  31. >ignored, my colleague is dragged off
  32. >me and the liason include this in our roleplay narrative
  33. >spend the next twenty minutes writing a corporate litigation (again full format and authentic) and the liason prepares an affidavit
  34. >actually get logged out from the server because of inactivity whilst writing the fucking paper, lose it all but I fortunately keep a pasta as I went along (that's how dense and in depth it was)
  35. >liason arrives just as I finish the paper, I also grab my research papers and we go to the commander
  36. >grumbles and gives us a few minutes in his office
  37. >liason gives the whole speel, the introduction, what is occurring, down goes the affidavit and my litigation (against the XO, it was legit I wish I kept the pasta tbqh) and I follow it up by giving my presentation on our research and the importance it yields. Doctors saving lives, Researchers saving worlds and so on
  38. >before I can actually explain to him the research that was violently interrupted by the XO, and give a case to return my colleague to our work he brushes it off and just leaves the office abandoning me and the liason
  39. >liason goes off to furiously fax this all off to W-Y and I hunt down my colleague
  40. >find him and he's doing a terrible job at surgery, more harm than good, it looks like a marine is hovering around the hall making sure my colleague stays put
  41. >notify him about what I've been up to with the liason, he is relieved and wants to file his own legal infringement
  42. >as I'm about to try and wiggle him out of this suddenly it's code red time
  43. >marine runs off, I grab my colleague and bolt for the research wing
  44. >fortunately there is a little armoury outside and we kit up
  45. >vests and smgs hardly a fit fight against a xeno but decide the best place to go is liasons, link up with him and contact W-Y
  46. >rush down and through medbay to the office, it's getting frantic everywhere
  47. >liason is nowhere to be seen, except he's now hiding in his private quarters with the shutters down, whoops forgot W-Y is a corporate entity that doesn't really care about you and the liason is a weasel when it comes down to a life or death situation
  48. >doesn't reply or open, so we book it back to the research wing to lockdown and hide out
  49. >gunshots and shrieks everywhere
  50. >somehow make it back to the wing entrance, but no power to the doors and no crowbars in site
  51. >colleague wants to go back down to find one
  52. >I'm against it knowing it's too late they are down there but refuse to let him go alone
  53. >go down the ladder and we're instantly minced by an ancient hunter
  54.
  55. Anyway between three hours and a lot of heavy roleplay later, it's a real fucking shame that neither the XO nor the commander actually replied to our roleplay prompts. Apparently the liason didn't get any 'fax replies' even though there were at least three admins on, and a bunch of underling moderators.
  56.
  57. It is what it is but the three of us were feeling sour and thought it verged on failRP territory so I prompted an admin to see what they thought, explained everything and asked for his opinion. Gave our case, the character reasons, the motivations etc. There was a legitimate narrative that multiple authoritative roles weren't interested in responding to appropriately, and wouldn't you know he didn't really understand what it was all about but thought that 'medbay doesn't have enough hands so XO was in the right to powergame his rank'
  58.
  59. That's the story about my first and last truly real effort involved roleplay experience in CM.
