- So for this Halloween special, I was going to do a normal NoTHTD% run (which, for those of you who do not know, forbids the use of Twin Headed Thunder Dragon, and typically uses a combination of Skull Knight, Summoned Skull, and Dark Magician to survive.
- **Before I continue, this steam will be the first in a LONG time that I do facecam. Why start now? Because I am attending AGDQ, but not running anything. I'd like for some of my viewers to be able to tell if I am on camera briefly or not, simply for funs sake. So facecam will now be something I do every now and again. Eventually, before AGDQ, I'd like to be doing it every stream. Continuing:**
- However, I wanted to mix it up a little, whilst still giving myself a shot at finishing. So, today is going to be Ushi Oni and Summoned Skull strats. There also may be Pumpking and Soul Hunter in the run, if my deck allows, but they will not be focuses of the run. The big 4 of today's run will be:
- Ushi Oni
- Summoned Skull
- Skull Knight
- Dark Magician
- So, now came the routing. I wanted to do something outside of the typical NoTHTD% box (basically mage solider BCD-POW and Meadow Mage SA-POW for the entire run). So, I compared the equips that are the same against those 4 monsters.
- Ushi Oni - Dark Energy, Axe of Despair, Malevolent Nuzzler, Violet Crystal, Horn of the Unicorn
- Summoned Skull - Dark Energy, Axe of Despair, Beast Fangs, Black Pendant, Malevolent Nuzzler, Violet Crystal, Horn of the Unicorn
- Skull Knight - Dark Energy, Beast Fangs, Black Pendant, Malevolent Nuzzler, Violet Crystal, Horn of the Unicorn
- Dark Magician - Dark Energy, Black Pendant
- I omitted some equips that only show up once or twice, because those won't be worth my time. Basically, the equips that show up the most in that list are the most valuable. To count:
- Dark Energy - 4/4
- Black Pendant - 3/4
- Malevolent Nuzzler - 3/4
- Horn of the Unicorn - 3/4
- Axe of Despair - 2/4
- Beast Fangs - 2/4
- Violet Crystal - 2/4
- These are listed in the order of usefulness. My next concern was to find out who dropped the MOST of these in their drop pool. Who was the best one-stop-shop? I listed some of the duelists here:
- So, it seems in terms of equips (and general usefulness of drops), Mage Soldier A-TEC is the way to go. With a 188/2048 chance for a useful equip, he is invaluable. However, I cannot rule out Pegasus's usefulness, as he is a close 2nd in terms of usefulness and equips. Plus, I have to consider that the two equips Pegasus drops works on ALL 6, and Megamorph is obviously more valuable than any other equip. So there will likely be a mix between the two during my farm.
- That takes care of the equips, but what about the base monsters I need to create the monsters the equips will power up? Here is what I came up with for a route:
- - Start with Black Pendant, Malevolent Nuzzler, or Horn of the Unicorn. These 3 are easily the most useful equips that you will very likely not end up with 4 of on accident.
- - Villager 1 will be the farm 1 spot. He drops Pot the Trick and Ancient Jar, along with Mystic Lamp and Fake Trap. I also want to mention Sinister Serpent. I am going to try to put in a few reptiles and Crass Clown/Clown Zombie. It will help me make a few Soul Hunter here and there.
- - Continue through campaign past Bakura (or past Mage Soldier if my deck can handle it). Bakura will be a farm spot for a while. For one, He drops Time Wizard, making him the replacement for the normal Jono 1 farm done in NoTHTD%. Also, he is a literal HAVEN for dark spellcasters. PLUS, Black Pendant AND Invisible Wire (in case of no Fake Trap) drops each at a 32. Both would help a LOT.
- - Mage Soldier A-TEC, and Pegasus A-TEC. A mix between both, with an emphasis on Mage Soldier A-TEC will do. Mage Soldier's A-TEC list, outside of having an amazing chance to drop good magics, has Job-Change Mirror and Embryonic Beast. Yum.
- - High Mage Martis / Meadow Mage SA-POW farm. This is the bulk of the farm, likely. Martis drops a TON of higher level fiends, making that job-change mirror have more fusions. Also, he drops 3 cards that, if I obtain even one of them, will be a HUGE asset to me: Zoa, Ushi Oni, and Soul Hunter. Meadow Mage farming will be sprinkled in rather than being the MAIN focus here. This is for the Dark Magician, Skull Knight and MBDs that will help tremendously.
- The route varies quite a bit from the normal NoTHTD% route. I originally was going to do NoTHTD% with a slight emphasis on Ushi Oni, but that is boring. It is overdone. This is not meant to be a serious end-game attempt. This is meant to be fun, with a chance of finishing. So, I want to make this clear:
- I DO NOT PLAN ON FINISHING! Seriously. I don't. Why? Because it's Halloween, and I'd like to go do some things later tonight. So if this run is on the death bed 10 hours in, I am not afraid to kiss it goodbye. If it is looking good at that point, I will stick it through. But just understand that this entire stream is meant to be a fun, laid back, Halloween themed stream. GFC_Grill will be stopping by as well for a long time.
- Enjoy yourself!
