  1. [18:05] "Should the human go through with her deal...you'll be free to leave within a few months. However..." Veles' shoulders come to rise and fall. Now staring across the bridge. What she'd initially captured Darrel for is done and over with. All that's left is to observe how the mutations effect him.
  2.
  3. Physically, and psychologically.
  4.
  5. "The alternative is to earn them back."
  6. (Veles)
  7. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  8.
  9. [18:11] Months... "Months..." Could he...? He gripped his hand tight. "Months is too long." He murmurred, staring down at the trees below. He always liked to burn things.
  10.
  11. And going this long without the ability to do so right. His hand slammed into the post with frustration. Almost rage. "FINE."
  12.
  13. His eyes closed, as he seemed to consider something, mouthing a phrase to himself. But, it didn't seem to soothe him. Not as much as anytime before.
  14.
  15. "Earn them how."
  16. (Darrel Hull)
  17. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  18.
  19. [18:16] "Look at you. More interested by the second, huh?"
  20.
  21. Her speech, that had been lackadaisical at best, was now brimming with many different approaches. Her interest, likely tampered with and enhanced as they spoke more on the subject.
  22.
  23. He never figured he'd be the sort to communicate in a conversation like this with the spider, but, she had a way with words. He found it rather soothing to hear, and over-all her sight on things was what he was after.
  24.
  25. "A realm like that. . could be used for so much. To get to a level like that, it's as if I'd have to devour the entirety of the cosmos itself."
  26.
  27. And even that alone has his mouth watering. To consume the whole of the cosmos, to. . have an existential rip in the fabric of things inside of him? To subject people to, not death, but an endless wonder of dread and forever-ness.
  28.
  29. He trembles.
  30.
  31. "I'm glad I called you over. My heart's racing."
  32. (Seequor)
  33. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  34.
  35. [18:17] Lots of anger going on here! That won't do. Lavinia didn't get mugged today, so it definitely was a good day. For that, she just had to confer some goodness to the needy.
  36.
  37. Clean and innocent, the aspiring culinary master approached the pod of intriguing individuals on the bridge with a sealed contain in both hands. It was warm, thanks to a basic heat rune. Beyond that, it was hard to tell what it was.
  38.
  39. "You sir need a good ol' Lavinian meal, m'hm. On the house. If y'like it, be sure t'check our grand shop in Theria."
  40.
  41. She locked her eyes on the collar they had been discussing. An awkward pause followed.
  42.
  43. "Errr, or any upcoming subsidiary! M'hm!"
  44.
  45. The item was offered to the redhead, with a smile.
  46. (Lavinia Walters)
  47. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  48.
  49. [18:21] Oh, she laughs. Not condescendingly at all, now! It is soft, and reserved, and in some manner pleased. She had spoken herself to that point, thinking on the fly. Most of her good ideas came from having no latch on her lips, and it was always nice to hear that she was very good at what she did.
  50.
  51. "Of course. If you do come that far, you'll have to let me have a look around inside your world and see what it's like for myself."
  52.
  53. A half jest, and half genuine curiosity. If he could go so far, why would she not want to see the fruits of that labor?
  54. (Yalmavanta)
  55. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  56.
  57. [18:30] {Item} You picked up Fire Crystal..
  58. [18:35] That frustration earns a smile. Should he use that anger, that rage, and turn it into power? The transformation would me more likely to progress swimmingly.
  59.
  60. "Depends. How far are you willing to go, Darrel?"
  61.
  62. There is no motion made to stop the interaction between Daemia's find, and the prisoner. Waiting on Darrel to reply before informing them both of the tutor.
  63. (Veles)
  64. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  65.
  66. [18:40] He roughly rejected the offerred food, slapping the container roughly away. A mildly irritated growl as he looked towards Lavinia. "I don' trus' food I don' make." Especially around here. Especially from strangers.
  67.
  68. Although... There was a pause, as he glanced back over to Veles. "How ought I know? I don' even got a clue wha' yer expectin'." He hadn't had enough experience with this sort of thing. Or these demons. "Or wantin'." Asides power.
  69. (Darrel Hull)
  70. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  71.
  72. [18:49] The container- no, her good will was slapped away! A dramatic slow motion played before her eyes as her hard work was shove away and hit the ground. Maybe the bowl was robust enough to survive, it was uncertain. What was certain was the dumbfounded look on Lavinia's face as she stared down, silent.
  73.
  74. "Wh- . . ."
  75.
  76. Red veins shattered her optics and blood pressure rose significantly enough to have a vein pop out of her forehead. Jaw clenched, teeth gritting, her gaze slowly veered to the angry prisoner.
  77.
  78. "Y'know . . . There's only one thing I hate more than people touchin' me. 'n' that's people who waste. Wastin' good food givin' outta kindness too."
  79.
  80. Her initially cupped hands rose ever slightly to chest level, fingers hooked as the dishonoured cook attempted to contain the rage Veles was all too familiar to.
  81.
  82. "Lady Veles. He is essential to yer work, ain't he? I . . .I really need t'know he is!"
  83.
  84. The glare of fury remained with the only barrier between the prisoner and Lavinia being the head demon's word.
  85. (Lavinia Walters)
  86. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  87.
  88. [18:59] "What I'm expecting, or wanting, is irrelevant to how far you're willing to go." Spoken as her arms cross beneath her chest, displaying little emotion on her visage. Staring forward, even as the offered food is slapped away. Listening to the other, yet not turning to face her directly.
  89.
  90. "He is."
  91.
  92. Spoken calm as ever. "So." She is uncertain when the witch would arrive, but that much means little to her in the moment. "Lavinia. The power I showed you before? There is one who can teach you how to control it proper.
  93.
  94. I will be sending her to you both, so that you mean learn our art; the magic of demons."
  95. (Veles)
  96. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  97.
  98. [19:02] Approaching the Demon tower, Blake had little idea of the entity that they had come to have a curiosity for. Approaching the lot that seemed to stand by the bridge, she made note of Darrel. And so perhaps the one she wanted to speak to was around?
  99.
  100. "Ah yes. I am looking to speak to a Lady Veles? I was not given a physical description." A sword moved to place itself against the pommel of her Blade, scanning between the number of Demons. Only to set her eyes on Lavinia. "Oh, hi." A casual wave passed toward her in particular.
  101. (Blake Augustus)
  102. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  103.
  104. [19:11] Crash... The bowl hit the ground, maybe intact... Hard to tell, since he didn't care. He could feel the anger just near him. "I don' like strangers shovin' food in m'face." And he matched, almost as nearly.
  105.
  106. "An' I don' even need yer food. Yer wastin' it tryin'." There was a moment, as he raised his foot to stomp on the bowl... Before just refrainning. A large exhale.
  107.
  108. "Take yer stuff back." He mutterred, before Veles spoke once again. How far was he willing? He crossed his arms. "Far as I need fer m'flames back then."
  109.
  110. That was the true frustration. Although, a semi-recent face would be seen. One he barely knew, so he paid Blake little regard.
  111. (Darrel Hull)
  112. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  113.
  114. [19:22] Bijel Volk says, "Since you took all my coin, I suppose fetching me a leg wouldn't be too much to ask for."
  115. [19:22] "Wonderful. Then you and Lavinia will be learning the occult under Lemuria." Spoken as one calls her name. Turning her hand slow and sluggish to cast her crimson gaze upon Blake. Flicking her tongue to taste the air, before slithering forward.
  116.
  117. "You wish to speak?"
  118. (Veles)
  119. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  120.
  121. [19:22] She was so ready to inflict all sorts of misfortunes on this man. The young cook was seething. There was so many things she wanted to say, from calling out his logic to just downright insult him.
  122.
  123. The heat of her mana oozing from the raw anger she was experiencing was perhaps nauseating to those whom mana was restricted. Reeking nearly as bad as the auras of the many occultists of this land. But all of it would serve nothing more than venting, as Veles manifested herself.
  124.
  125. "Tsk. Very we-"
  126.
  127. Pained words were cut short as the ginger didn't seem to have had enough with what he had already done. He was about to stomp her hard work. Now he was just begging for it. By reflex, she'd shove the male with quite a bit of might.
  128.
  129. "A S S H O L E."
  130.
  131. Lavinia did go down to pick it up, though. Never waste good food. Though, with that debacle potentially over, she could perhaps siphon in some of that leaking fury and lock it away somewhere.Calm down.
  132.
  133. "Mmm, what's her name, Lady Veles? Maybe I know her."
  134.
  135. And then, a Blake showed up. True to her decent manners, the still rather flustered cook turned to greet with her own wave!
  136.
  137. "Oh, oh, howdy!"
  138.
  139. Wave turned to a fist with her thumb pointing behind.
  140.
  141. "That's her, over there, m'hm."
  142. (Lavinia Walters)
  143. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  144.
  145. [19:24] "..Fetching you a leg?"
  146.
  147. It seems that Seneval isn't exactly sure as to what Bijel is talking about, but.. after assuming that he's talking about mythril kits, he merely turns away, no longer interested.
  148.
  149. "Weren't you trying to get me killed the moment I stepped over? I'm sure you can handle that much on your own, if you're so full of bravado."
  150.
  151. For now, however, he turns to observe the situation ahead. More Occultists?
  152. (Senevál)
  153. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  154.
  155. [19:25] Veles says, "Teach them however you deem fitting."
  156. [19:26] Lemuria happily waved at the two of them, her expression and her voice both brimming with enthusiasm. The woman really was passionate about teaching the occult.
  157.
  158. "I am happy to meet the two of you!"
  159. (Lemuria Augustus)
  160. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  161.
  162. [19:27] Seeing the snake slither on closer, the eyes of Blake scanned their form. While they had seen snake demons in their true form, and felbloods who looked overall more human, the Witch had never seen Veles or anything like them before.
  163.
  164. "Ah yes. Hello. I am Blake Augustus and..." A scan to her right. A finger jabbed in the direction of Lemuria. "That lady here is my big sister. Anyway, I came here on behalf of a friend of mine, Celine. She is ever so worried about her boyfriend Darrel. So much so she is thinking it might be necessary to kill some demons to release him. Now, I value this friend and I value my demon allies.
  165.
  166. I am wondering if there is some compromise for Darrel's freedom that can be made?" Another scan was given toward Veles's form. She tried not to stare at the serpent. To look her from top to bottom and yet...
  167.
  168. It was ever so hard not to stare. She was certainly a unique creature even among Demonkind.
  169. (Blake Augustus)
  170.
  171. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  172.
  173. [19:32] Lavinia had been left somewhat heated from that little confrontation. Drops of sweats accumulated near her hairline and her breathing took some time to get even again. Her green eyes also kept some redness, a vessel probably popped here and there.
  174.
  175. A small hand rose to brush her hair to the side, clearing her messy bangs from her reddened visage so she could better present herself to the State Sponsored Teacher.
  176.
  177. "Oh, howdy! Pleasure's all mine, Madame Lemuria! M'hm! Name's Lavinia. Lavi's fine, m'hm."
  178.
  179. She tried to mirror the adult's enthusiasm. Didn't quite succeed. Kind of bummed from the previous issues.
  180.
  181. ". . . Am I learnin' with that turd, though?"
  182.
  183. Her thumb pointed at the ginger.
  184. (Lavinia Walters)
  185.
  186. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  187.
  188. [19:37] A rough shove, before he had made his decision to abate. Seemed he wouldn't get to make it, as it was taken from him. And that made him want to stomp the bowl all the more.
  189.
  190. Although, Veles's voice distracted him. And he lost focus, turnning then.
  191.
  192. A tutor? The occult... How would... It had been in his dreams so much more. And he'd keep waking up sweatting when it all went pitch black. Fine. If that would give him what he wanted, then he'd take it.
  193.
  194. He walked over to Lemuria. "Darrel." All he said. He was never one for introductions. Although at Lavinia's comment... He'd just mutter something, before shaking his head.
  195.
  196. "Ya ought be glad I got this on. Kid."
  197.
  198. Although, once again. His focus was taken. Celine was trying again. He heard her name, and looked over. It wasn't going to happen easily. "Tell Celine... Tha' it'll all be over. Soon." The rest of a year...
  199.
  200. Not soon enough. But he wanted her to stop worrying. And not get herself killed.
  201. (Darrel Hull)
  202. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  203.
  204. [19:39] Lemuria Augustus exclaims, "Come on you two. Smile! Smiling makes everything better!"
  205. [19:39] Lemuria Augustus says, "I want to see the same enthusiasm that I have! And not the fake kind."
  206.
  207. --------------------------------------------------------------------
  208.
  209. [19:39] Veles says, "Sibylle. Show Lemuria to the chambers of knowledge and torture."
  210. [19:40] Lemuria Augustus says, "You need to be enthusiastic about -something- if you ever hope to learn it."
  211. [19:40] Sibylle says, "...."
  212. [19:40] Sibylle asks, "But I was going to play with him?"
  213. [19:40] Lavinia Walters exclaims, "I am VERY enthusiastic 'bout kickin' his ass! M'hm!"
  214.
  215. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  216.
  217. [19:40] Veles says, "It won't take long."
  218. [19:40] Darrel Hull says, "..."
  219. [19:40] Darrel Hull says, "Only thing I've cared 'bout is fire. But fine. I'll work wit' it."
  220. [19:41] Dagon says, "Do leave him in one piece, Sibylle."
  221. [19:41] Veles says, "Nevermind. I forgot. It was ruined recently."
  222. [19:41] Sibylle says, "Ohhhh. Fantastic."
  223. [19:41] Sibylle says, "It's okay."
  224. [19:41] Sibylle says, "It's being fixed!~"
  225.
  226. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  227.
  228. [19:41] Lemuria Augustus says, "Let us just make our way to behind the tower to get away from the noise."
  229. [19:42] Lavinia Walters says, "Knowledge 'n' torture. Ah yes, they inevitably go together."
  230. [19:42] Darrel Hull says, "... Celine."
  231. [19:42] Lemuria Augustus exclaims, "Eh. This is a good a spot as any!"
  232. [19:45] Lemuria sat down and crossed her legs, gazing upon her two prospective students with a look of absolute enthusiasm-
  233.
  234. One that quickly changed to skepticism. One that was judging them.
  235.
  236. She gazed upon the two of them, paying close attention to their words, cadence, and body language, surveying for any weakness she could find, and any signs of deception or uncertainty.
  237.
  238. "What reason have the two of you to pursue this magic?"
  239. (Lemuria Augustus)
  240. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  241.
  242. [19:49] The relative distance from the tower was welcomed, yet... Could he? A clawed finger tapped frustratedly on the collar. As if he was evaluating his options.
  243.
  244. But he glanced at the two there and finally, he'd sit down. "I wan' ta get back ta what I enjoy." He answerred simply. "An' I can't do tha' wit' this thing on." Tap, tap, tap.
  245.
  246. "So, ta get it off, I'm supposed ta learn a magic I don' care much 'bout."
  247. (Darrel Hull)
  248. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  249.
  250. [19:54] Mimicking her new teacher, Lavinia sat Indian adjacent to the passionate Lemuria. There seemed to be quite a bit of energy oozing from this individual, equal part passion as her gaze shifted to Lemuria, equal part burning frustration when it shifted to her peer.
  251.
  252. Small hands clenched her calves as she focused her attention on the teacher with the first question posed. Lips pursed and pupils peered downward as some introspection was needed now. And with all that anger coursing through this one, thinking wasn't the easiest task.
  253.
  254. "Mmm . . . T'be honest? I wanna reach peaks I can't how I am now. Can do this with any magic, really."
  255.
  256. Fingers drummed against her exposed calves, taking a few more seconds to ponder.
  257.
  258. "But there is somethin' . . . Allurin' 'bout this power. Each time I'm exposed to it, I feel an attraction. M'hm. An attraction t'destroyin' what angers me. What tries t'stand above me. Nothin' feel more right than this darkness, m'hm!"
  259. (Lavinia Walters)
  260. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  261.
  262. [20:01] A magic he wasn't even interested in...
  263.
  264. Lemuria was, at the very least, unamused at this answer. Occultism was the magic she was the most passionate about by far! It was, to her, the one magic that represented self-expression above all. The magic of a true artist (albeit a mad one)! To see someone so uninterested in learning it went against all she knew.
  265.
  266. But perhaps the process of shifting to a mindset where he could appreciate it was part of Veles' goal.
  267.
  268. She was, by comparison, much more pleased at Lavina's answer. That kind of pull is exactly what she was looking for.
  269.
  270. "Tell me... have the two of you been made aware of what occultism is? Of the central tenants or any aspects of the philosophy behind it?"
  271. (Lemuria Augustus)
  272. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  273.
  274. [20:07] He never sugarcoated things. Not easily. Although, the other there... Yeah, that made sense. She had seemed excited for all of this from the beginning. Although, that magic in his dreams had been trying to turn him over.
  275.
  276. The lure of the flame was too bright. Although, once asked the question...
  277.
  278. "Destruction or some such. Rot." As for the tenets? He'd never looked much into it. "Burnin' things down already does tha' more than fine enough." Not looked much more into it, because he'd been trying to train his flames to eat the stuff.
  279.
  280. Perhaps that was why he'd been resisting the call within him for so long. Even subdued, those flames were hungry.
  281. (Darrel Hull)
  282. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  283.
  284. [20:07] Oh this felt like some sort of pop quiz. And Lavinia was counting on being a model student. Though perhaps the issue here would be her eloquence. Not her bizarre drawl but simply her lack of literary prowess. Finding the right words was hard, hence the frequent breaks to think.
  285.
  286. "Mmmm . . ."
  287.
  288. Arms crossed, she really tried to figure out how to express this one. Pupils lifted up, racking her brain for the proper formulation.
  289.
  290. "Well! I know it is the magic of destruction, m'hm! Opposite of 'em holy magics. And as it should, enhances 'em destructive capabilities of other magics, m'hm!"
  291.
  292. She provided some somewhat exaggerated gestures upon explaining what she 'knew' about the magic.
  293.
  294. "A magic that responds well to anger, heh. Anger 'n' hate."
  295.
  296. A growing grin poked against her cheeks.
  297. (Lavinia Walters)
  298. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  299.
  300. [20:08] Darrel Hull asks, "... Enhances other magics?"
  301. [20:10] Lavinia Walters asks, "M'hm! Ever seen 'em demons beat ya' up even more when they suck in that magic in 'em?"
  302. [20:11] Lavinia Walters says, "The one that mugged me did that. Fuckin' asshole."
  303. [20:11] Darrel Hull says, "I jus' burn away mos' that magic bes' I can."
  304. [20:12] Lavinia Walters says, "Can't do that anymore though, hehe."
  305. [20:12] Darrel Hull says, "Tssss..."
  306. [20:12] Lavinia Walters asks, "I could break yer legs right now. You wouldn't be able t'do a thing. Does that make ya' angry?"
  307. [20:13] Darrel Hull says, "Don' make me feed ya to tha flames too kid."
  308. [20:14] Darrel Hull says, "I refrained from stompin' yer bowl anyhow. "
  309. [20:18] "There is... a bit more to it than that."
  310.
  311. "Chaos. Destruction. Revenge. Progress. Growth. Indulgence. Mercy. Occultism has represented many things over the years, the symbolism behind it being unfathomably ancient. But, fundamentally, occultism is the magic of the self."
  312.
  313. "Occultism is shattering the moral foundations one stands upon. Wanton destruction and chaos is merely the easiest way to go about it. This is not a magic natural to humans, so in order to learn it, you must fully immerse yourself in your own self-interests and break the constraints that others have over you-"
  314.
  315. Lemuria gazed at the collar, awkwardly clearing her throat.
  316.
  317. "-...philosophically, of course. All arcane magic is based on how you interface with the world above all else, so learning it is merely about shifting your perspective and giving the emotions that come with it form."
  318.
  319. "Specifics will come in time, but Iam willing to answer any questions now. So if you have any, please feel free to ask."
  320. (Lemuria Augustus)
  321. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  322.
  323. [22:48] "What flames? The ones y'forgot when y'put that silly collar?"
  324.
  325. A nasty smirk took shape on her visage. She was keen on bothering this collared man. He did mess with her food bowl, though.
  326.
  327. But when came time to listen to class, Lavinia was as still as a statue, focus entirely dedicated to the lecture. Too bad she couldn't take notes, but her memory was decent enough. She hardly blinked too and stayed wide eyed.
  328.
  329. "M'hm, m'hm."
  330.
  331. With a few nods, she manifested that she at least understood the concepts laid forward. This was only possible due to prior notions. It was impossible to not have those when living among demons, really.
  332.
  333. She rose her hand like the good student she was.
  334.
  335. "'tis a reason why I respond so well to it, right? I feel so strong when others try to subjugate me 'n' I defy 'em with all my will. I get so energized, 'n' my body burns like when Lady Veles first exposed me to this, m'hm!"
  336.
  337. Passion flared in her voice.
  338.
  339. "Feels like the conclusion of the magic, I s'pose, is almost always destruction. Like when y'break somethin' to make new stuff. Or y'destroy all that stands in yer way to achieve yer goals."
  340.
  341. Bit of a simplistic way of seeing things. Maybe her way of seeing things.

  343. (Lavinia Walters)
  344. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  345.
  346. [22:49] What a list... He didn't care about most of the words there. Other than he'd always been the sort to pursue what he wanted. Carefree. And that was why he was here.
  347.
  348. To get what he wanted back. But he kept quiet, letting his hands drop away from the collar. And now idly dig at the dirt. Tearring up the grass... "Then why's it callin' to us?" He murmurred. He couldn't deny that much. Ever since Veles's work... His dreams were a struggle between the flames and the dark.
  349. (Darrel Hull)
  350. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  351.
  352. [22:58] Lemuria would be lying if she said she knew exactly why occultism would call to someone. She saw it as something that must be pursued, else people would learn it easily! She thought to herself, but it didn't take her long to come up with a response.
  353.
  354. "Well, occultism is the magic of demons. Perhaps the demonic influences are what is calling out to you?"
  355.
  356. It was just a theory, but it was one grounded in reality enough to have some merit.
  357.
  358. "Remember, occultism is not natural. Any kind of exposure to it can cause small shifts in your mindset to build up over time; dreams would perhaps be where those could begin."
  359.
  360. "And yes, Lavinia, that is probably why you respond to it so well! And I appreciate the enthusiasm!"
  361. (Lemuria Augustus)
  362. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  363.
  364. [23:07] Lavinia definitely lit up upon being complimented so! This was followed by a giggle before she started to ponder her teacher's words again.
  365.
  366. The teen's eyebrows would furrow upon registering the new information. By no means a history buff, but the tales of Mordred and even the creators were passed down locals of every level.
  367.
  368. Tapping her chin with her index, she'd pose the following.
  369.
  370. "Hmmm, Madame Lemuria, if the dark 'n' occult ain't natural, then why are everything that make it so natural to the world? Destruction, progress, emotions . . ."
  371.
  372. Although perhaps the borders between history and myths were so blurred so deep in the future that there was no telling who was right and who was wrong. Only the angels truly knew.
  373.
  374. "Even the night we see, feels like it is a form of the dark in this world. The unknown, the solitude when yer blind . . ."
  375.
  376. Slightly nervous, her digits continuously tapped her forearms, as her arms remained crossed.
  377. (Lavinia Walters)
  378. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  379.
  380. [23:10] Demonic influences.... Oh. Right... He chuckled faintly to himself, raising a clawed hand to his head. He dipped his head, partially coverring his face. Demonic influences. The answer was so stupidly obvious. It was probably the sleepless nights getting to him.
  381.
  382. "Yer right... That is what it is." After all, that was what... Veles wanted. Wasn't it? No wonder she wanted him learnning. Just to accept it. Maybe, if he'd get what he wanted.
  383.
  384. "A'ight then... Seems it's comin' fer me anyhow." He murmurred faintly to himself. He'd been keeping the dark at bay as best he could in his sleep. The fires had always been his ally in that regard.
  385.
  386. But the realization, even if from someone he didn't like... That it could boost his flames. Was all so alluring. "So... How do we begin?"
  387. (Darrel Hull)
  388. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  389.
  390. [23:20] "That is a fantastic question, Lavinia! You are the first person that has actually asked me just why occultism is unnatural! Well, the reasoning behind that is simple, and while it may be difficult to believe, it is almost always true:"
  391.
  392. "People are fundamentally predisposed towards working for the betterment of a group, a greater whole, or some grand design. No matter where their opinions or feelings towards that come from, that is how people are programmed. That is how they must be. The mindset necessary for occultism runs opposite of that. The only time most people act fundamentally self-centered is when they feel like they are owed something, or that whatever their target is deserves to be taken from."
  393.
  394. "This is a mindset that can be taken advantage of to take your first steps into occultism. It is the mindset that -should- be taken advantage of, even! While your mindset can progress past that, at first, I would suggest starting out trying to think of ways in which you can take from others or target those you believe deserve vengeance."
  395.
  396. "The reason I discuss mindset so much, Darrel, is because occultism is a highly symbolic magic. You cast it from the heart. You must give your emotions form. So, in order to get started, you must understand what you must feel. From then on, it is only a matter of immersing yourself deeper and deeper into that mindset until you manifest occultism when giving said emotions form."
  397.
  398. Lemuria either put a lot of thought into this, or just liked hearing herself speak.
  399.
  400. Probably both, come to think of it.
  401. (Lemuria Augustus)
  402. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  403.
  404. [23:29] A bit shy after being doused with quite the eloquent answer, the fascinated Lavinia slowly rose her hand.
  405.
  406. "But . . . Humans can hold both 'em opposing magics. Not together, but, they can hold 'em both. While demons can't. Maybe that means that humans have the same potentiel t'do both? Self-servin' or not?"
  407.
  408. While it seemed like she was pushing a philosophical debate, Lavinia's opinion stemmed from actually experience. Or rather, the root for all this delicious anger and hatred she harboured: Her delightful mother.
  409.
  410. "Demons can't do anythin' but act self-servin', Daemia explained this t'me thoroughly, m'hm. But humans can choose either direction. So . . ."
  411.
  412. Turning her head after keeping it lowered during her musing, she'd face her teacher with an expectant stare.
  413.
  414. "Maybe it is natural fer humans t'swim in the dark. 'Cause they can chooseto. I uhm . . . I get very angry when others wanna choose fer me."
  415.
  416. Her tone lost more of its flame the more she dived into this rabbit hole. She liked to be defiant, but despised going against those she felt respect for. And right now, she felt like she was going against her teacher.
  417.
  418. "Mmm, I understand though, m'hm. I've been feelin' this fer a long time now, 'n' am used to this mindset."
  419. (Lavinia Walters)
  420. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  421.
  422. [23:30] The feeling of needing more. Desiring what others have. Really, that wasn't something that was natural for him. At least... Until lately. The weight around his neck being the practical symbol of that.
  423.
  424. He wanted his magic back. He wanted the idiot girl there put down into her place. But, it wasn't able to be done. Not as he was. "Symbolic... Yeah, tha's mos' o' what fire is." A magic that grew best from emotion. Not just mana.
  425.
  426. After all, it needed fuel. "Guess I can do this then." Normally, he'd cast it into the flames. Fuel for the fire.
  427. (Darrel Hull)
  428. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  429.
  430. [23:33] Lemuria Augustus says, "Excellent."
  431. [23:34] Lemuria Augustus says, "It is not that difficult once you grasp it."
  432. [23:34] Lemuria Augustus says, "You just need to be made aware."
  433. [23:35] Lemuria Augustus says, "Now that you know the mindset is what leads to occultism, Lavinia, you will find yourself making progress at a rather rapid pace."
  434. [23:35] Lemuria Augustus says, "The same applies to you, Darrel."
  435. [23:35] Lemuria Augustus says, "And-"
  436. [23:36] Lemuria Augustus says, "Just so you know what it looks like, I will demonstrate what the... 'default,' so to speak, occult spell is."
  437. [23:40] Lemuria held her hand up, an occult flame surrounding her arm. Her general demeanor became noticeably darker, shifting from an enthusiasm to teach to a rather blatant enthusiasm to destroy, but luckily, it wasn't directed towards her students.
  438.
  439. With a single push, Lemuria fired a flurry of dark orbs towards the sky, each one dissipating shortly after. Nothing was harmed; Lemuria's general respect for nature made her desire to preserve it rather than destroy it, and as such, she opted to aim it towards the sky. But it was pretty clear that such a move could hurt things had it been directed at them, rather badly at that.
  440.
  441. "This is what uncontrolled occultism looks like once given form. However, once you figure this out, it will become much easier to shape it into a variety of other things."
  442. (Lemuria Augustus)
  443. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  444.
  445. [23:45] A flurry of occult orbs were shot into the sky. A feeling... That Darrel had grown used to in the air around. He'd felt it enough. Fought it, fought alongside it.
  446.
  447. He'd seen this manifestation a few times before as well, but still... It was mesmerizing almost. No, that mesmerization was a new feeling. Something that felt wierd.
  448.
  449. "Figure it out... Any advice fer tha'?" This was... Was it natural to him now? It wasn't supposed to be. It was hard to figure out. Difficult.
  450. (Darrel Hull)
  451. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  452.
  453. [23:48] Oh, finally some practical! Lavinia watched carefully, eager to witness some occult in action without it ended with her being mugged. The volley of dark orbs was truly a spectacle that left her in awe.
  454.
  455. "Woah . . ."
  456.
  457. A few blinks followed before she'd opt to stand on her feet too and adopt a firm stance. Proactive as ever, she'd start to channel mana throughout her body as she taught herself through past trials. It wasn't occultic whatsoever, but it did radiate some of the sensations that resembled occultic influence. After all, she adopted the proper mindset rather easily.
  458.
  459. Staring at her hand with hooked fingers, she'd stare up at the sky and imitate her teacher's movements. As she did so, the marking on her arm grew slightly brighter, reacting to the usage of her circuits.
  460.
  461. What came out would be a wave of mana that many could use even at the most basic of magic wielding stages.
  462.
  463. "Tsk."
  464.
  465. Dissatisfied, she'd try again. Each time, trying to have the neutral mana at least take the shape of a volley of spheres. Though instead, the colouring would be a bit off, being a bit darker in hue rather than transparent. It was clear Lavinia had a very strong penchant to the occult already, plus an occultic mark on her body, so it'd come to no surprise that her mana would adopt similar qualities in an attempt to imitate it.
  466.
  467. "Mmmm! This is haaard!"
  468.
  469. Long way to go, but she had the spirit.
  470. (Lavinia Walters)
  471. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  472.
  473. [23:51] Lemuria Augustus says, "What I did was visualize my resentment, hatred, or what have you focusing into my hand. Then I just... pushed mana through it."
  474. [23:51] Lemuria Augustus says, "It took a few times."
  475. [23:52] Lemuria Augustus says, "But do not underestimate what visualizing can do for you."
  476. [23:52] Darrel Hull says, "Focus those feelin's then..."
  477. [23:53] Lemuria Augustus says, "Emphasize the visualization part."
  478. [23:53] Lemuria Augustus says, "Like... imagine yourself holding those feelings in your hand."
  479. [23:53] Lavinia Walters says, "Mmm, yes."
  480. [23:53] Darrel Hull says, "A'ight."
  481. [23:53] Darrel Hull says, "I ain' got much feelin' wit' my mana right now."
  482. [23:54] Darrel Hull says, "But I can try it."
  483. [23:55] Lavinia Walters says, "Think I understand it pretty well."
  484. [23:55] Lavinia Walters says, "It's comin'. Mmmm."
  485. [23:55] Lavinia stares at her hand as it clenches.
  486. (Lavinia Walters)
  487. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  488.
  489. [23:55] Lavinia Walters says, "I definitely visualize. Heh."
  490. [23:55] Darrel Hull says, "I always jus' fed those feelin's inta my fire."
  491. [23:56] Darrel Hull says, "Ta make it stronger."
  492. [23:57] Lemuria Augustus says, "Either way-"
  493. [23:57] Lemuria Augustus says, "I am rather exhausted now."
  494. [23:59] Lemuria Augustus exclaims, "So I believe we should call it here, unless you desire for my lessons to degenerate into nigh-incoherent babble!"
  495. [23:59] Darrel Hull says, "Right."
  496. [23:59] Lavinia Walters says, "Hehe, that'd be pretty fun I reckon."
  497. [23:59] Lavinia Walters exclaims, "Alrighty teach!"
  498. [23:59] Lavinia Walters says, "I just have one question, Madame Lemuria."
  499. [23:59] Lemuria Augustus asks, "Hm?"
  500. [23:59] Lavinia Walters asks, "How far have ya' mastered this magic?"
